My daughter has been physically assaulted 3x. She’s had teachers leave because they were assaulted. It’s not safe.

My experience with this school was awful. I cannot speak for all teachers, but one. I was amazed at how little she actually taught her students. A typical day consisted with her reading them stories or the students working on their literacy platform (freckles). Not once did I see her teaching the students anything valuable. She constantly would yell at the students for the most simple things. For example, if they wanted to share something that happened at home good or bad, she would shut it down by telling them she just did not want to hear it. I was applaud by her behavior, considering she has been teaching 20 plus years at this school. During the state exams she was concerned that most of her students were struggling with time management and how it would reflect on her. Well, maybe she should actually teach them a few things. Word of advice for this teacher, stop the storytelling and actually do your work! These students are doing poorly because of teachers that are only working for a paycheck and not caring for the students well being.

Though having 2 private locations (Buffalo hearing and speech, and UB speech plus my sons teacher who has a degree in special Ed along with our pediatrician all stating my son needs speech. The school declined him services. They are setting my son up to fail, by not providing him the services he needs to succeed!

His teacher, aide, and principal have all been great. We truly do love the school. But the fact they don’t provide services to special needs children who need the services brings my overall experience down. My son needs speech. And yet the special ed department declined him even though he is speaking 2 years behind. And can’t form relationships with his peers due to not speaking correctly, and then not understanding him.

This school is amazing. Never had any issues.

There is no extra help for students in need. I feel brushed off by staff and my students teacher.

This school is wonderful! I have 3 children, whom have all had different teachers, and I was more than satisfied with the help and attention each one of them have received. I think that parents that complain really need to step back and re-think what they have said. My daughter does not have special needs, however she is in an inclusion class where special needs students are integrated. It is wonderful for her to meet all types of children and it is making her a better person!! Also the clubs that are offered here are wonderful for the kids and I also love the character awards that are given to the kids. It really makes them feel special!! I think the staff is doing a wonderful job!!!!

Union East Elementary is disappointing. My daughter is currently in Kindergarten here. The teachers do not have the available resources to properly teach these children. There is no testing system to see which students need extra help or those who may be a bit advanced. Therefore a number of students are suffering and not getting the education they need. The children in her class evidently, from teacher comments and my daughters account, have behavior issues. Guns, death and sex are some of the first things my daughter learned upon starting kindergarten. There is VERY LITTLE parental involvement in this school. The ones who are struggle to keep this school afloat with constant fundraisers. From day one Carrier Coach has been late or early with times varying within 30-40minute windows. The bus driver has changed no less than 10 times since the of the year and we're in March now. Calls to Carrier coach, the school and the district bussing manager have proven unsuccessful. There have been times my 5 year old daughter has had to direct the driver to our home. In short this school is a disappointment and planning and sacrifices should be made to AVOID this school at all costs.

It's fine if you have no other alternative to send your children. It is a basic public school. There are many rude parents, many rude teachers and a few of the office staff who really need to not work within a school. If you are going to be rude to people, do not work in an elementary school. You have to be fine with the teachers because there is no other choice. My daughters teachers are nice, but they are swamped with kids and there is no time or oppurtunity to do anything different besides the same thing each and every day. The school is filled with tiny robots. Little kids who are all told to act the same, learn the same and do not talk, touch or smell anything within the school. Like most schools in this area, there is no oppurtunity to branch out and learn differently. A shame really.

This District is not for children who need extra help, they did not help my children at all!!! You would think being out here and the teachers pay is soo well that i wouldn't have to basically tuter my own child even when he clearly needed professional help, drive them to school when they r being bullied on the bus because no one would help, and fight and i mean fight for my oldest to get into a special school because they wouldn't or couldn't help ( i think wouldn't they get thousands of $$ for "special" kids to be there from the goverment just so they can shove these kids through the cracks) SO IF YOU HAVE CHILDREN WITH "SPECIAL NEEDS DO NOT SEND THEM TO CHEEKTOWAGA CENTRAL!!!!!!!!
