I am extremely disappointed at the lack of communication with Akron Middle School. We had problems with little to no communication last school year. This year my son is currently being homeschooled. I contacted the school weeks before the school year started about submitting homeschool paperwork.
My first contact was to the registrar who brushed me off and said she couldn’t help me. My next contact was to someone who my child told me takes the homeschool paperwork. She took a week to return my phone call. We then exchanged emails, or at least I attempted to but each time it took days for her to respond and then she stopped responding completely. Then, three days after school resumed I began receiving voicemails from the attendance office stating my son was marked absent. I called back to say he was being homeschooled and the woman from the attendance office told me I wasn’t allowed to homeschool him. I then began receiving emails from the school and letters in the mail from the principal about his absences. I then had to report the school to CPS and get them to advocate for us.
