I sent my son to Maritime after observing the he needed a different structure. The faculty and staff did such a great job at helping him realize his potential. His confidence and maturity have boosted so much over the last few years. Maritime is a game changer!

I'll always be thankful for the professionalism of everyone. They really adore the students and it shows. I would recommend this school to ANYONE.

All 4 of my children have attended Maritime,2 of which have graduated. The other 2 are about to enter their Junior year. I believe this school has given all of my children the proper tools to be very successful in life. I have made some amazing connections to some of the staff. They go above and beyond to make sure not only my students, but all students be as successful as they possibly can. I have no doubt in my mind that sending my children to WNY Maritime Charter High School was the best decision ever!!

This school helped both of my sons find structure and direction, seeing them all the way to graduation. I believe the academic and life lessons learned during their time at the school will be something they carry with them thru their adulthood.

As the Commandant and Head of Schools at Western New York Maritime Charter School, I write this not as a promotional gesture, but as a testament to the transformation, resilience, and mission-driven culture we are building every day.

WNY Maritime is not for everyone—and that’s intentional. We are a military-style charter school rooted in leadership, accountability, and self-discipline. We serve a high-needs population, and many of our cadets come to us facing significant academic and social-emotional gaps. We do not make excuses; we meet them where they are and raise the bar, not lower it.

Our NJROTC program is central to our identity, instilling core values such as honor, courage, and commitment from grades 5 through 12. But what truly distinguishes us is our belief that structure and compassion are not mutually exclusive. Our staff is trained to lead with both high expectations and high support. We don’t coddle, but we don’t ignore needs either. We teach our cadets how to lead themselves before leading others.

We’ve made strategic academic gains through vertically aligned curriculum planning, benchmark-driven instruction, and the use of data to guide interventions. We hold our educators to a high standard of performance because our students deserve nothing less. We invest in professional development and are currently scaling initiatives in literacy, math fluency, and Regents mastery.

We are also honest about the work ahead. We are scaling to excellence, with every staff member and cadet held accountable for moving the needle forward.

For families looking for a school that prioritizes character, discipline, and long-term success over short-term convenience, WNY Maritime offers a powerful alternative. Our goal is not simply to graduate students, but to send forward disciplined, self-aware, and resilient young men and women ready to thrive in college, career, and life.

If you are a parent or guardian seeking structure, values, and a no-nonsense path to leadership development—this is a place worth considering.

It is a supportive school and strongly helps with character and grades. I am currently a sophomore in this school and it is the best school I have been in my whole life.

I went to his school back when it was still starting out. Great learning environment and structure that generates personal drive for advancement. It also helped me prepare for my career in the Army and I am still active-duty. Even if a child does not want to seek a military future, I'd recommend it regardless of what others say.

I've had 2 children at Maritime and am very pleased. The leadership program is an excellent way to build character. The teachers were very accessible and worked so hard to help the kids connect. I love seeing them in the Navy uniform. It helped my child to focus on school. Lots of tutoring available for remediation and Regents preparation classes. I'm impressed by the opportunities to advance in JROTC rank or play sports or just go to school in a safe, clean, orderly and positive environment.
