It has been an excellent experience for all four of my children. We have found the administrative team to be supportive and the teachers outstanding

I used to love the school when my child first attended it in third grade it has gone down here for the last 3 years they can't keep teachers they can't keep principles they don't like to communicate with the parents they want to do everything through email the principal can care less about the children that they have this year she will say one thing to you and turn around and lie about it the next time you see her I don't recommend this school to anyone any longer teachers does not like to communicate with parents they are younger teachers so they don't have the patience with children

I transferred my son to this school and at first thought it was not such a good idea after some experience with a teacher but change will always be different. After communicating with teachers about myself and my son we came together to help each other. Nothing will be perfect but I know he's at a better school for him!

I transferred my son to this school recently because of the great things I heard. Everything about this school is amazing, the teachers, the staff, front desk staff included. My son hasnt been the easiest to deal with but thankfully they are VERY supportive, they have such a great Special education program as well as emotional support. I never received this type of help at his old school that I am getting here. The principal and assistant principal are absolutely wonderful people also very supportive. My son being at this school has got him the help that he absolutely needed all along. I will recommend this school to anyone!

This school started out as a community based school with loads of interaction between parents, staff and teachers. Now it has become a locked down institution where all interactions are handled via email, text or apps. At times this appropriate but overall it makes me feel like my kid goes to a school run by Amazon.com. This school year, the school lost 65-70% of its teaching staff to other opportunities and this high level of turnover has immensely lowered the quality of the teaching staff. Most of the current teaching staff seem more apathic and unhappy than ever.

There is absolutely NO special education going on in this building. It might sound good on paper, but no one is addressing these students' diverse needs at any point throughout the school day. Any decent special education teachers will LEAVE this mess because they are not providing adequate supports for learning to be able to happen. This school gets a ton of money from the federal government to support students with special needs. Where is that money going? Why?

I love this school. You can just tell that the staff and teachers like working there. They all know you kids name and are friendly when you walk in the door. Also, the teachers do so much for you, and are very responsive and supportive. Our son struggled in reading in kindergarten in 2020. Then over the summer they offered him this free reading group. With the support of his teachers he's now close to reading at grade level. They have the best teachers and multiple teachers in the classroom. Also, they get a special once a week (Spanish, dance, music, gym, and library). Lastly, they always try to get the kids outside for recess.

Both of my children attended EVCS. The teachers are excellent and the school really focuses on the whole child. I can honestly say that EVCS helped my children become better humans. The focus on social emotional skills is excellent. EVCS teaches kids how to think rather than just doing test prep. My kids actually liked school during their years at EVCS. They had recess and special area classes every day and there were lots of extra-curricular activities.

This is not a great school for children with disabilities. There are several good teachers and support teachers but no one that assist in supporting children with disabilities. I have been a parent at this school for over 15years with three of my children. School was great for my other two. My last one diagnosed with a mental and intellectual disability. I thought greatly about the school as my first two children didn't need the support. After my third child started That is when it all started. Even with a plan 504 plan in place, my son was constantly getting removed out of school because they cannot handle or at that time follow the plan to help my child. Constantly calling me to pick him up with no answer to what the trigger was or what was done before calling me. This risked his education and my job. There is no direct special education in this school. Just counselors and teachers that pull the kids out the room/ situation. I would never recommend applying your child with a disability to this school. There has been so many issues spoken by parents of children who attended this school regarding to the same.
On another note. There are amazing teachers in this school that have helped me amazingly without being able to help in the situation.

I also really like how the teachers focus on white students more than anyone else you can tell cuz 70+% of white students do good on the state test but 28% of black people do good on the state test

EVCS is a wonderful school! The teachers and staff care so much for the children. Along with their standard subjects, EVCS offers art, gym, dance, recess, field trips, and community involvement.
My daughter never complains about going to school. It feels like a big family.

EVCS is a wonderful school and I feel blessed to have my children attending this school. My kids are currently in Kindergarten and the 2nd grade. There is a strong sense of community. I love the fact that there are three adults in my children s classroom. I feel like each child is given the attention that is needed. The teachers are great with collaborating with the parents to help the student reach his or her goals. My daughter came in with an IEP and needed a little more individualized attention to get the grasp of material being taught. I ve seen a lot of growth in her and she is now exceling in more ways than one. She is a lot more confident and on task. This is due greatly in part to the teachers and I working as a team. Both of my children have great school pride. My son couldn t wait to start kindergarten and absolutely loves the school. I never have a problem with them not wanting to go to school.

I'm a student attending the 7th grade at Elmwood Village Charter School. This school is the best one I've ever been in. The kids here all wear a smile on their face. The teachers are great as well as the students that attend. New kids should not be afraid to attend this school. The kids at this school will become friends with anyone who needs it. Teachers care for these kids like their own and help them with anything they need, while having fun doing it. The people in the office also work hard and do an excellent job. This young school has certainly made its name known throughout Buffalo. Parents if you wish your kid to attend this school I say that it's worth it.

We have 2 children in this school and have been very pleased with their academic and social progress. The teachers and director are very accessible. Teachers know and care about your child. They will work with you to ensure that your child is learning and thriving. My children look forward to school and are happily greeted at the door as they enter and leave each day. We are pleased that the school is expanding as every child should be lucky enough to have the chance to attend a school such as this.

We applied to Tapestry and EVCS and got into EVCS through the lottery (and were waitlisted for Tapestry). My daughter is a first grader here this year, having started in Kindergarten, and we couldn't be happier with the school! The teachers and staff are well-educated and caring and truly dedicated to the success of each child, offering additional help to children who need it (like my daughter, who stayed after with her kindergarten teachers to strengthen her reading skills so that she would be ready for 1st grade) and also giving the more advanced students enrichment opportunities so they don't get frustrated with material that is already familiar to them. I was somewhat concerned about taking on responsiblity for transporting her to and from school, on-site before and after school care is available, so my work schedule doesn't have to be interrupted. The daily interaction with teachers, staff, fellow parents and students pleasantly contributes to a feeling of community A great school overall! It is so wonderful to have the option of staying in the city and knowing that my child is receiving an educational experience similar to that offered in Suburban districts!

I am thrilled with my child's school. And now that 7th and 8th grade are being added, I am even happier. One of the strong points about EVCS is that the atmosphere is very welcoming to all families, including GLBT families.

I've recommended EVCS to everyone I know with young children. My daughter can't wait to go to school each day! The teachers are amazing, the staff is kind and involved, and the entire EVCS community works hard to make both the school and surrounding area a better place. Wonderful!

I cannot say enough about this school. This school truly has a community feeling to it and every employee is dedicated to making sure the children succeed. Extra help is available for those that need it and all of the extra classes like dance, music, Spanish, gym and art contribute to turning out well-rounded students. The affiliation with the Boys ans Girls Club for before and after school care is outstanding. I would highly recommend this school to any parent in Buffalo.

This school has exceeded my expectations. My child has a disability and all the staff went above and beyond make my child ready for the first grade. There is a family atmosphere that makes everyone feel welcome.
