My child has had continuous issues in this school. So bad so that he was pulled from school recently.
My final was that he was special testing and the tests ran over lunch some. He was never given lunch even after he brought it up to his teacher. Instead he went to recess and it was never mentioned again. He came home starving and when I called the principal they acted like it was no big deal. Accidents happen but a child should NEVER go all day without lunch. No one had an explanation for what happened.
This is one thing on top of 50 that have continued while we have attended this school over the last few years.
Dont get me started on the bullying problems.

My son is continuously being bullied. When he tells on them for being mean his teacher calls him a tattle tell. Ive reached out to the teacher multiple times about the issues.
He requires an IEP and I will say the school has been great about helping my son to figure out the best ways to suit his needs.
Im not a fan of the office staff at the desks. Every conversation Ive had with them on every occasion they seem like they are in a bad mood and dont want to deal with anything. Even the way Ive seen them converse with the children coming to the office for something seemed rude.

I attended Monroe as a child as was so excited for my children to attend as well. But, learning seems to have taken a backseat to parties, hat days, pajama days, and whatever other days they can come up with. My daughter won a cooking competition and was in the running to go to the state finals. They chose someone else to represent Monroe, and that was fine. But, she followed up and kept asking about it, with no response. Finally she found out (from the cafeteria lady) that someone else was chosen. I was really upset about the way this was handled, as it seemed like they were hoping we would forget about it and we would just go away. Talk about crushing a little girl's dreams.

My pre-k has learned so much this year and the teachers have been a great asset! I have volunteered at many of the elementary schools in Nornan and found Monroe takes more concern for child safety and security than the others. I have also had many children at my home while babysitting and feel that those who attend Mobrie have a greater knowledge of basic skills than others! I volunteer as much as I can and so I see first hand what goes on! Great teachers, hall monitors are in the ball and the children all seem to be happy when they come and leave Monroe! Extremely glad I decided on Monrie to send my child for his early education!

Amazing dedicated teachers! Embraces the arts more than any other public school I've been to and visited. The arts are incorporated into all subjects in ways all different types of children enjoy.

I have two children at Monroe for the past five years and could not say enough good things about it. Both of my children require teachers with skill and patience in order to thrive and have found those teachers each and every year. The arts, music and science curriculum is outstanding. The PTA is heavily involved and helps strengthen the school community. Every staff person from the principal to the janitor know and love the children at this school. We love Monroe!

This was a good school, past tense. Monroe and their principal seem more concerned with status quo and appearances then teaching. This is a good place for children to slip through the cracks, especially if your child deviates even slightly from an antiquated norm. The principal is unreceptive to parents concerns on subtle bullying by the teachers and even supports those teachers who actively undermine children. Monroe received a C on their state report card and in my opinion are lucky they did so well. Monroe has outstanding faculty, great parent involvement and excellent enrichment programs, like Manyawi World Music Ensemble. Monroe is part of the A+ Schools network, which means that they invest in teacher training and incorporate lots of arts and hands-on learning experiences to make learning exciting. My kids, who are now in middle school and high school, received a great foundation for success by attending Monroe.
