My daughter attended this school and was bullied the whole school year. Not only was she bullied she was injured at the school and it was all caught on video. I pressed charges on the other student and nothing happened. The school cannot protect these kids, they do the bare minimum. My daughter grades wasn’t good because of the bullying at the school. Nobody cares especially if u are a person of color. The bullies that starts the trouble, They get suspended for three days and come back doing the same things. The officers on site, is a joke. The amount of bullying my child endured caused her stress, they don’t take bullying serious until someone step in then they cover their tails. Maybe if they cared more and did more about bullying, Norman district could be a success.

Worst school ever. Bullying happening at the school and they do nothing about it . They don’t care, they do the bare minimum just to say they done something. Racial slurs was being said and they did nothing about it. I really thought this school was better than any other school but I was proven wrong, the bullying my daughter experienced there was a horrible experience and something needs to be done. Two police officers on duty and they are worthless to have. This district need to put a stop to bullying and protect the kids that attend this district. Very disappointed in this school.

This school has put me through hell and back. Didn't do anything about my friends and I getting sexually assaulted by a guy and blamed it on us. Another thing is a guy walked up to my best friend clearly drunk and threatened to kill her, nothing happened. They actually got mad at us for sticking up for ourselves. This school has no remorse for anything that happens and just want to keep their grand ol' image.

Expect controlled chaos at all times. Even the admins do not know what is going on half the time. Not all the teachers are knowledgeable about their subject they teach and your student may have student teacher unsupervised by regular teacher and all of this occurs in college bound classes. Overall too big for admin to manage.

I'm a sophomore at Norman North and I honestly hate this school so much because of everything that I've dealt with, if I could give 0 stars, I will, first of all, I had a teacher in the 9th grade that was seriously entitled and disrespectful (she was my English teacher), I had unfair lunch detentions because of her, and don’t get me started on the principals, one of them, Ann Blatt, is the most entitled of them all, she gets angry over everything, I have a friend there who was a senior there this year, who went a little too fast in the parking lot, and she was FURIOUS over that, like come on, he didn’t mean to go a little fast, and now he dropped out and got a GED because he couldn’t take it anymore, and honestly, I agree with him, if I were old enough to, I'd drop out immediately, this school is the worst school that I've ever been to in my 16 years of life, I recommend for parents to not let their kids to that school at all.

The teaching staff is phenomenal. At Norman North Blue Ribbon School you are surrounded by successful, motivating and brilliant scholars who want success for your kids every single day to be the best possible version of themselves. My daughter was stuggling at first. They helped identify her strengths and weaknesses. They guided her with both. She flourished and graduated with honors. My son loves math and sciences. He was happy to have teachers that prepared him for college. It's a wonderful atmosphere for both educational learning and social fun my kids enjoyed art and media classses...which seem to be cut in other schools. You'll also be able to meet a great variety of staff who will delight and impress you. I highly recommend this school and I've done the research.

AP teachers- mostly all are very good.
Non AP- a good amount VERY BAD and ONLY care about being a sports coach or don't do anything to challenge students. People who only take non-AP classes graduate with minimal knowledge and are not prepared for higher education.

No gender equity resources, uses money to invest in not in academics, but TVs in the hallways. Not enough minority representation in student government. Also, during its big donation week, SPUD week, is designed so only very wealthy students can participate alienating many students from participating.

I graduated from Norman North in 2014 and am now out-of state. This school definitely had opportunities such as a decent amount of AP classes to take. Many of my AP teachers were very much interested in seeing their students succeed. However, the classes I took that weren't AP, I had mostly AWFUL teachers in them. A good amount were sport coaches that did not care about the material and struggled to teach it. This school was majority caucasian and had mostly only caucasians in their student government, which isn't good because even though diversity was low at this school, it still existed. One year, my entire junior class of girls was made to go to the auditorium to be told my local police officers to take a self defense class. This is fine, however there never was a lecture for all the boys not hurt girls and women. The school didn't offer sexual education or any gender equity resources. My experience living in Oklahoma and from this high school motivated me very much to leave the state. I am fortunate enough that Norman North gave me some opportunities so I could leave Oklahoma.

I graduated with the NNHS class of 2008, and I'm now an "A" Sr at The University of Oklahoma, taking a double major in Film/Video Studies and American History. I could never say enough great things about this school. I credit the faculty and staff for my success at OU, as well as my confidence to, pardon the cliche, "spread my wings and fly." The teachers, save for a rare few, are interested and play an active part in your child's education. The AP classes offers students a chance to challenge themselves, the Speech and Drama Department provide excellent skill building opportunities, the Athletics Department is becoming known across the state (T-WHAT?!), and the list goes on. Also, of course, I have to mention that Norman North High School has been named a "Blue Ribbon School" by the U.S. Department of Education? I am who I am today because of my time at Norman North. It's an excellent school.

As a parent of a child who is a B+ average student, NNHS is strictly a C+ average school from an academic point of view. It's a large school with over 2100 kids from grade 9-12 and the quality of introductory math & science courses are very dependent upon the teacher. Many of these teachers have many kids to teach and must ensure that the child passes the End of Instruction (EOI) exam mandated by state law. In the process of doing so, the child learns how to do well in standardized testing because all class tests are multiple choice, which has value for the SAT & ACT, but it is questionable if the student actually learns the material where they can think independently and apply what they've learned for more advanced courses in math & science. There are many intelligent kids at NNHS, but they do well not because of NNHS instruction, rather it is because they study the subject outside of school. The counselors are of little help since the only way a student can get attention is to be in trouble or is a National Merit Scholar candidate. Good, hard working and honest students will be short changed in their education and not be ready for college.
