First, there is no diversity and there is racism. This school has 4-5 hours of homework and has no organization when it comes to helping students.

First and foremost, please do research into any school that presents itself as "Montessori" because, the woman who actually created this style of learning/ teaching never trademarked it, there are no standards or any kind of accreditation needed to advertise as a Montessori based school. This school was NOT a good fit for us or my child. She would come home crying, sobbing, having full blown meltdowns every single night, about what happened during the day. Things as simple as not understanding how to put a puzzle away or needing help opening a container in her lunch, due to the teachers' inaction and refusal to help (under the Montessori guise), my child would have meltdowns every night and every morning. The teacher then explained that she simply needed to rotate the puzzle and it would have fit but, my child was so distraught by the whole experience that she likely wasn't in the correct frame of mind to cognitively understand the expectation. In the teacher meeting, I was told that most of the kids there watch Bluey and my child was at school talking about watching the Barbie movie.... what that has to do with her education, I will never know. My parenting was also scrutinized during that teacher meeting, she said that I needed to "intervene quicker" when my youngest child and oldest child are having normal sibling disagreements because I don't want my child labeled as "explosive." At what point does a teacher look at a struggling student who is but 4 or 5 years old and realize that it is no longer a matter of fostering independence, it is a matter of a little child needing an adults help? I will say, the other parents were and likely still are, very generous. They got the teachers plenty of nice lunches, massages, gifts etc. and then I hear one of the teachers complaining in the hallways, making jokes about how she just cannot wait for the holidays and to be done working... I was shocked at the level of ungratefulness and overall out of touch perspective considering just how predatory some work places can be, especially for teachers. I would encourage any family to form their own opinion and this school likely will fit well with others but, it did not serve my family or my child well. She has done significantly better in public school.

As an alum and parent of a student I cant say enough positive things about Westminster. It is a journey for the student in which each year builds on lessons and experiences culminating in 8th grade. Bob Vernon is one of those teachers (8th grade) that everyone remembers as a pivotal in their growth as a person. The schools focus on teaching a student to think independently, work with others, and how important it is to contribute to the community is invaluable. Bullying has never been tolerated and addressed immediately.

I was hired to teach at this school, but I quit after a few days because of an unreasonable workload and dishonest administrators. I was literally scheduled to teach twice as many classes as my colleagues, with no reduction in duty assignments. It was not disclosed to me during the hiring process that I would be expected to do the work of two departing full time teachers. I specifically asked about the person I would be replacing, and they only mentioned one name, so this was a deliberate lie of omission on the part of the head master and the division director. They pretended to be supportive, while dumping an impossible amount of work on my shoulders.

This school is not at all diverse in terms of learning style, race and religion. White students have said the n-word to students of color, and nothing is done even after the same child has done so multiple times to the same student. If you have learning issues, dont come here either. They do not have the staff or supports to help your child at any level K-8. They are the school for the unspecial as the administration likes to remind parents.

Parents are excluded from being a part of the school. They may not help a child to their locker under the guise of building independence in the child. The administration at the school will not listen to parents. If you have an issue, then they will say go somewhere else.

There are so many other schools to chose from where you and your child will be supported and cared for. Keep researching and find the better fit.

The theme of the Primary school is "peace". They teach young children to work together and be peaceful, but yet independent. My 1st grader knows that she is expected to be a good neighbor at school.

There is little to no homework in the lower grades. None in Kindergarten and only a request to read for 15 minutes a day and work on some sight word flash cards for 5 minutes a day in first grade. Not the nightly fight of homework that some of my other friends are going through with their children.

The teachers adapt as needed to your child. They don't forget the classroom goals, but they make sure that each child gets there on their own.

I have a public school background. I am not "well-to-do" so I feel like my opinion of this school is fairly objective. We have two kids attending (for the last three years) and have had nothing but good experiences at WM. Looking at the three reviews below, I think they are from the same parent. That reviewer's experience has not been my experience. In terms of tech, my children are younger and I'm glad they are NOT getting a tremendous amount of screen time at school. Classrooms do not need to be high tech to be effective for teaching, in fact, the less tech the better IMO (especially at a younger age). The teachers are all outstanding. While there are some parents that seem a little "snobish" that is not the majority and is certainly less than in most private school circles. The best "proof" of a good education is the graduating class. I have heard countless stories about WM kids going on to high school at the other private schools and doing very well. I have also talked to WM graduates - none of them had a bad thing to say about WM and all credited WM for a great deal of their success. In short, I was not married to sending my kids to private school but we have been so happy at WM there is no way I would go anywhere else. Our three years have been outstanding and the kids love, love their teachers every year.

This school can not do anything right. My little girl was taunted and bullied when she arrived and the school staff did nothing to help. The school is a cliché, and you can only fit in if you have been at the school from the start. The school is outdated with the looks, as well as all of their tech. their computers are "set in the "00's " said my daughter. She left two years ago, and we will never go back. I called and asked for help and so did my little girl. They didn't help, I just kept getting calls saying that I needed to pay them. I am not going to pull out my checkbook if they are not going to help my kids.

I feel that the new Co-Director of the school is taking a fantastic approach into making the school a better place, but Bob Vernon, the head of school, is making the entire school old and liberal. My son and daughter have told me that the technology at the school is extremely outdated and is tougher to use. With the $28,000 a year and book bills, the school should be able to afford iMacs in EVERY classroom and computer labs. Kids these days need to have access to all of the technology upgrades they can.

I would never recommend this school to anyone. My son and daughter have told me that the technology at the school is extremely outdated and is tougher to use. We had a very disappointing year at Westminster after transferring from a public school. It was very cliquey and not inclusive to new kids or parents. The school was very uninvolved and not accepting of learning style differences even with a bright motivated student. When we withdrew the school did not reach out at all to find out why and how our experience at the school was. They were only concerned about remaining tuition. On top of that our child was behind academically when returning to public school.

My wife substituted there today as she has before. She was teaching 6th grade Spanish and her third hour class refused to do anything they were supposed to do. They would not even respond when she was calling attendance. The students apparently have a certain sense of entitlement and can do as they please without consequence. My wife was scheduled to substitute again next week, but unfortunately has to decline as she does not feel comfortable in the current environment that exists at Westminster.

Excellent school! It was our first year and my kids just excelled. They are so excited about learning. It is summer and they miss their school. They love their teachers and made new friends. The school encourages students to think and work well with others. The school is teaching students to become problem solvers at a young age. It is not focused solely on doing more home work and believing more work is better. In my opinion, there is no perfect school. However, if you are looking for, academic excellence, impeccable social skills and a friendly environment for your student, I beat you will find it at Westminster in Oklahoma City.

If you have a self starter, great school. But if your child has any special needs, this is not the place for you. No communication just not welcome back. After they preach how important communication is. I emailed a staff member and no call back just a short email. But I think if you take out your checkbook, they will bend over backwards for you. Just glad I didn't give the substantial donation I was going to give. A horrible failure for my extra special child.

I strongly disagree with the parent who wrote that they do not help children with ADHD. My daughter was diagnosed with ADHD and is not on medication. Her teachers are aware of this and have assisted us with many behavioral interventions and have sought to help develop talents that give her confidence to work through challenges. We communicate through email almost weekly and they have assisted us with study skills. My daughter is still easily distracted but reads at a 12th grade level and is making A's and B's. Communication is key; if you work with your teaching team they will help you. If you feel this is not the case, I know Mrs. Waldo or Mrs. Regens are there to help. Best of luck to you. My son looks forward to school every day, tells anyone who asks that he loves it! He is learning things I don't even know, and hes only 6! His teacher gave me her personal cell before the school year started and has never ignored my calls :) She talks as long as I need to and always tells me how wonderful and amazing my son is. What mom doesn't love to hear that? Plus, I know he feels exactly the same way about her. Love love love this school
