I am very disappointed. Kid would come home crying everyday from being bullied. Some kids there are very rude, racist, sexist, etc. I had asked some other parents and they were having the exact same problem and were hearing it from their kid. The school presents itself as a kind Christ-centered community. From what i’ve seen and heard, it is the exact opposite. Just from being in their chapel, I see unfairness, exclusion, and pain. I am very disappointed and would not recommend at all.

Not only the school , but the staff are terrible , going on by Christian and acting with No Respect and no human values at all doesn't go along .

Things may have changed since I attended this school, but their approach to homework was not effective. Imagine yourself as a 12 year old, sitting in a class all day, being lectured, and then you go home and you have 3+ hours of homework to do. This is a lazy and ineffective approach to homework. It leaves the responsibility of helping the child on the parent's shoulders rather than the teacher.

It was about half and half when I attended this school. Some of the teachers were wonderful, and others could barely keep the class from falling apart. I left this school after my sophomore year to attend public schools, and I discovered that not only was the curriculum years behind the state standard (I had to test into my junior year) but I had been taught by instructors who were not certified.

"Compassion" isn't something I ever experienced here, nor was it taught to me. We were taught to hate people who held different beliefs. I remember in the 6th grade our teacher would pretend to be an atheist and we were instructed to argue with her, and to insult her. In the 8th grade I was bullied extensively, and rather than help, one of the teachers (who was not a real teacher, but a parent hired to fill a vacant spot) joined in with the other kids.

The principal was ineffective, and though my parents approached him multiple times when I was being bullied, nothing was done. He blamed me. He said I was doing something to set the other kids off. I was asking for it.

Some teachers would go out of their way to help students who struggled, but that was the extent of it. There were no special education classes or classes for students with learning differences. But that may have changed.

No. As I mentioned, an instructor joined in and bullied me along with the other students. Multiple teachers witnessed the others kids bullying me, and my parents had many conversations with the principal, but it was never handled appropriately. The bullying stopped when I left the school. I was never bullied in the public school system.

My experience was wretched. I came into this school in the 5th grade, so I was an outsider and not easily accepted by the rest of the kids who had all known each other since kindergarten. I remember feeling lonely. I had little in the way of friends here, and the lack of support from the teaching staff just made it worse. When I think of kindness, compassion, and Christian values, this school is the farthest thing from my mind. I am glad that others have had a better time here than I did, because I wouldn't wish my experience on anyone.

We love it there! I have to completely disagree with the previous reviews. I have only heard of 1 parent that was unhappy. Best thing we ever did for our kids!

The elementary levels are satisfactory but as you enter secondary levels the quality goes down. Total emphasis on sports and the coaches ridicule the kids not willing to spend all their time on football or basketball. Academics continuously take a back seat to athletics. Secondary academics aren't challenging and kids (especially athletes) are allowed to redo work repeatedly to make grades. No upper level college prep classes unless you take onsite classes for additional costs of college tuition and books. Little to no college counseling. Lots of favoritism and nepotism. Issues that are well hidden when you are looking at the school initially. School is becoming very crowded as they keep adding students to the school while trying to build a new campus.

It depends on the teacher from classroom to classroom, expecially in the upper grades. Elementary teachers are very good.

The elementary principal is terrible, she is constantly reminding new coming parents that all the kids who started kindergarten together are a family and new kids are outsiders and she treats them as such. They also hound you and make you feel bad for not donating to their additional causes

Huge improvements have been made over the past few years at OCA. We moved our 2 elementary children from edmond public schools to OCA this past year and they were WAY behind and they were making straight A's @ edmond schools. The academic level is much higher than their previous school. because of this I know they will be much better prepared for college. The sports are competitive there and they even have a great elementary althletic department. They have chapel everyday and enjoy learning other subjects with a christian perspective. We love OCA and highly recommend it.

Small school where kids can be involved in many activities, however, most activities take a back seat to boys sports. Lots of politics with the administration and very closed to working with parents' ideas. Advanced classes and student/teacher ratio are not as advertised. Academics are not emphasized like sports and discipline seems to be based on how valuable the child is as an athlete or their family is to the school. Disappointing move for us, make sure you do your research.

School Admin and teachers are set in their ways and are not willing to adjust to help children learn. Class size is larger than advertised, 1st grade class was the same as Public school with 21 students. Amenities and resources are not on par with other private schools in the area that offer a much cheaper tuition rate. Environment is not so "Christian" with staff being judgemental and political. Better more affordable private schools in the area, do your research!

Advertised student to teacher ratio are lower than actual. 2014 1st grade class and 2015 2nd grade have 20 students with a teacher and aide. Academics are good, Christian learning is excellent, ACT scores are on par with Edmond public schools.

We love OCA. We appreciate the small family like environment. There are quality teachers that really care about the student as a person, not just another name on the list. The small school gives the students many opportunities to be involved that they might not have at a large school.

As a parent of two students who graduated from OCA, I can tell you that The Academy is a fabulous place. The academic and spiritual environment give students the tools they need to be successful. Students are not just one more face in the classroom they are loved as they are taught and gently guided by excellent teachers. Students can participate in many extracurricular activities - from service projects, to athletics, to academic meets and more. I strongly urge you to visit Oklahoma Christian Academy if you want something different and wonderful for your child.

What a blessing to be able to get a good education in a teaching environment where christianity is not just implied but applied. Teachers are encouraged to teach biblical principles and use scriptures as they illustrate and teach. We've also enjoyed living in Edmond and still being able to provide for our children a small school atmosphere where everyone has a chance to be involved in music, sports and acedemic events.

I absolutely love this school. The staff is very attentive to our children and I love how secure I feel with my son at OCA. You must be on a list to pick up a child and if they don't know who you are you have to show Id. The curriculum is fast paced but with the small class size my son is a grade level and half ahead of his peers at the local schools. The Christian atmosphere is truly a blessing and has a significant effect on our son.

As a recent alumni of OCA, I wanted to share with others the wonderful experience that I had. I believe that I am the person I am today because of how OCA shaped me. They gave me the tools I needed to succeed in college, many things that my peers struggled with in college were just a review of high school material for me. I was able to experience many different things that other in large schools are unable to do, I participated in 4 different sports and was involved in several different clubs. I made lifelong friendships. Overall I couldn't imagine having an experience that comes even close in any of the big schools that Edmond has to offer. If you want to join a community of great people and give your child a fantastic education, OCA is where you need to be.
