The school is wonderful and diverse. I have visited many schools and walking into Kulp you immediately notice the building is updated, clean and full of positive messages and student work on display. The teachers we have experienced are engaged, though I will say classroom sizes are large, about 20-22 kids in a class on average. That's ok for us, but I know that can be tough for some other students/families. We also appreciate the school's effort this year to create a community through after-school events. Very happy with our decision to attend Kulp.

The principal, Christina Carter, is a malicious bully. She told a fifth grade teacher to line up the students by race and have the lighter ones call the darker ones darkies as well as a few other highly inappropriate names. She does a lot of weird, extremely unprofessional things and is the type of person you would feel uncomfortable with as a next door neighbor, let alone your child's principal. I just withdrew my child when I found out this was actually true about the fifth grade teacher. Calling names is never appropriate. When I heard this happened at this school, I didn't believe it, but several witnesses did confirm it and also I have heard so many negative things about the school's principal that I figured the glove does fit. Such a disgrace. Christina Carter, name calling is never appropriate. You are a massively large bully.

Why is this school all over the news but still has 4 stars? This is disgraceful. Privilege walks and making children apologize to other children for their skin color? This is horrendous.

Every class seems to have too many kids. When the teachers complain about it, you know there’s an issue. The amount of kids in each class does NOT give each student what they need.

Too many bullies in this school, even in kindergarten!

IEP’s and 504 plans are not followed. The parent shouldn’t have to keep a close eye on this.

They don’t follow IEP’s. It shouldn’t be a parents job to make sure they do every step of the way.

Horrible. My children hated it here. I do not recommend. These teachers seem like they’re in it for the money, they have no compassion!
There are too many kids in each class to be effectively taught.

Two of my children attend Kulp. We moved back to PA in the middle of the school year. My children were not used to this type of school. But the staff (principal and teachers) gave them time and lots of effort. My children have been there for 3 years now and are doing great. I love the principal who knows each's child by face and name. The teachers and support staff that I ave met and worked with are all great. I am so happy that my kids attend Kulp.

Kulp is the model for elementary schools to follow. The staff is friendly, knowledgable, and more than helpful. The principal is extremely involved with the students and knows each of them by name. There is a genuine sense of caring and concern for each and every child at this school. The parents are very involved with school organizations and events, and they always welcome newcomers into the fold.
