My oldest son currently goes to Penndale and I am dreading sending my youngest in a few years. The building's nickname is "Pennjail". There is no air conditioning. There are run down facilities and barbed wire fencing.
Athletics are decent but terrible communication (won't post schedules). The academics are rough. They operate with a 90%-10% in many classes and the teachers do not communicate the grades. They do not hold conferences.
Attending sporting events is awful as the students are allowed free run of the events. Special education is abysmal. My son was denied to even be tested for an IEP. I am a teacher so I knew how to advocate but the casual parents will not be as lucky.
It is very clear in the district that the focus is the high school and the middle grades get overlooked.

My child is happy, safe, and thriving. He's pushed academically, and the faculty is responsive.
7th grade is a huge jump from elementary school. Your children aren't coddled and babied any more. They are held accountable. Feels like the perfect environment for us.

Every singe one of my teachers were amazing, some of them even keep in touch and check in to see how things are going. I felt that my needs and concerns were always cared for. The stereotypes hinder families and students from embracing the education and support that faculty and teachers provide. Every instance of bullying, academic integrity, etc. was always handled well and effectively by administration.

They think everything is petty and does nothing to help the bullied

Bull shi t only if you are on homeroom or higher

Never communicates back with parent(s). IEP kids gets tossed to the side
Posted: December 30, 2018
They don't do prodo call when students are getting torchered by another student and threatened. They think it's petty that the bullied tells and written reports on the bully. when the bullied stands up and now faces crimal charges even when staff stood there and watched. The staff is nothing to protect students.

They ship kids to alternative school to higher there overall rating

Minus 100 trying to move out of the school district because rating and putting lower class kids last is not ok with me
Posted: December 13, 2016
This school and its staff are a danger to the students. The police are at this school on a daily basis, many times multiple times a day. Children are attacked and bullied and the school does nothing to stop these kids. Be cautious sending your children here, they are not protected as they should be.
