Moving from the city of Philadelphia to Collegeville and having my children attend Perkiomen Valley Schools was the best decision my family made. From Elementary school, middle school and high school my children have thrived as result of the academics and social environment. I've had a child who managed some bullying in middle school and the school was amazing. I have a child in special education, and they are flourishing. My engagement with the counselors and teachers has been nothing but wonderful. The only negative I see is with the School Board and THE PARENTS. Our School Board is pulled too far either left or too far right. The political fighting is out of hand. There is no middle ground, and it is extremely frustrating as a parent who is not a liberal or a conservative.

After my adult children graduated from the Perkiomen Valley School District, and with my youngest currently in 11th grade, I have many positive remarks about Perkiomen Valley High School. The school offers a wide variety of sports, academic programs, AP courses, and extracurricular activities, all within a supportive learning environment. I specifically chose this school district for its quality, and Perkiomen Valley High School has truly exceeded my expectations.

The school was known for sports and that's it. Academics was poor, bullying was allowed and nothing done about it, and lunch was a joke.

While on paper this school district offers a great all around educational environment I have been extremely unhappy sending my kids to this district. There is a definite problem with the school in regards to race and diversity. Not everyone is racist here don't get me wrong but when concerns of a racial nature occur the school district does not respond appropriately and lacks the structure to know how to approach problems of this nature. I have multiple children in the HS, MS & Elementary school and all of them have been the recipient of bullying from a racial perspective. I have found each school has lacked in their response and have left all of my children feeling vulnerable and not safe at a place that they should be safe to learn and grow. As much as I love the area, I sadly am now planning to move to get my children out of this environment. Its almost sad that in 2017 this is still such an issue and that the district is so resistant to either accepting that there is a problem or taking action to prevent it from occurring.

I would have given it 5 stars, but while the English, Social Studies, Languages and Math Departments are doing a great job the Science Department has been a huge disappointment. For six years now my kids have been taking science classes at the high school and the teachers are mostly professionals who moved from the lab to the classroom. Unfortunately they don't know how to teach to the middle. They teach for perhaps the brightest kids, or perhaps for pleasure of the sound of their own voices, but apart from the Chemistry Classes none of my kids -- who do very well in other subjects -- have felt like they understood or liked their science classes. Earth Science, Biology, Physics.... it's all been a wash-out, and the PSSA test scores demonstrate the short comings of the teaching in this area. I have seen no progress or even awareness that there is a problem with the science department, but I feel like our kids have not been well served. Apart from that, this has been a great high school for my kids. There's lots of parent involvement, lots of care and enthusiasm from teachers and staff. There's an atmosphere of mutual care and respect all around, a very good thing.
