My wife and I have three daughters who started at Sewickley Academy in 2014 – two of whom have graduated and one remains at the Academy in the class of 2027. Our two older girls were four-year, three sport letterman and are now studying chemistry/neuroscience and international studies, respectively, at top colleges. Our youngest is just completing 9th grade at SA and lettered in soccer, basketball and girls’ lacrosse. Our experience at SA has been truly exceptional and put our girls in perfect situations to succeed at exceptionally challenging colleges. Over the course of their careers at SA, our two graduated daughters completed 14 Advanced Placement courses and one completed the school’s remarkable Global Studies certificate. As they entered college, they took with them the study and time-management practices they had learned at SA, along with outstanding writing skills honed over the years. The Academy’s exceptionally skilled faculty lead the students through challenging academic programs tailored to each student’s goals and needs. The Dean-based advisory system provides a thorough, rigorous planning process for each student that begins as they enter the Senior School and provides a pathway to their targeted college and career objectives. With over a decade of experience at Sewickley Academy and now two graduates thriving in college, we can assure prospective families that no school in the Pittsburgh region comes close to Sewickley Academy as a true college preparatory experience. Certainly, SA’s price tag looks a bit scary, but we’ve found that the school has a wide range of financial support and incentive opportunities that bring the region’s finest education within the reach of any family.

Sewickley Academy offers excellent academic/artistic/athletic enrichment for their students. They listen to the parents requests and concerns and incorporate the parents' feedback into their strategic discussions to truly make the parents and students feel that they are heard and respected. My son and I made the decision to switch to SA in 5th grade, and he could not be happier peer wise or thriving more academically than he is here. This was the best decision we ever made, and can not speak highly enough about the school, facilities, faculty, staff, and administration. We highly recommend SA to any family looking for an advanced level of academic excellence for their children.

My daughter transfered to Sewickley Academy to complete her junior and senior years of high school. SA did a fantastic job in preparing her for college. I believe much of the work that she completed in high school was at the college level. My daughter hit the ground running and had straight A's her freshman year at SMU !!

Proud parent! This is our 1st yr in the USA & at the Academy after moving from overseas & attending intl schools.The Academy has exceeded our expectations not only in the rigorous academics but more importantly in the character development.The academics are advanced but they make it fun&engaging.Their language program is excellent as well and the children talk and engage in the target language which is fostered by a lot of TPR(Total Physical Response)activities.The science program is strong as well.Taught by a specialist with a PHD (not by the homeroom teacher)who teaches 4th&5th graders at the Science lab.The arts are fostered as well and form a very important part in the kids education.The faculty is involved in the community&constantly inspire the children.The dance teacher,is absolutely amazing with them and is very active in the theater scene in Pgh landing leading roles in Pgh.The library is full of wonderful librarians that constantly instill a passion for reading and work really hard to maintain and expand an excellent collection.The Academy is also a wonderful community that embraces diversity&it's parents.They welcome parent feedback & involvement,it's a true partnership.

As a proud parent of two SA students, nearing the end of a fifteen year journey, I highly recommend this school for families of all backgrounds. While independent schools are not as racially/culturally diverse as they could be with regard to the student body and faculty, the overall experience has been favorable at Sewickley Academy on many levels. What my children have gained is well worth the sacrificial investment I've made over the years. My daughters are very well-rounded; their exposure to unique opportunities at the school has contributed to their open-mindedness. They are well prepared for college and life, having developed not only a competitive advantage academically but also confidence, independent thinking, leadership qualities, a sense of community and respect for all. In many ways, the school has upheld my family values. I am proud of what Sewickley Academy has imparted in my children academically and beyond.

I have 4 children at Sewickley Academy and could not be happier. The lower school is nurturing while introducing the children to an academic environment. The middle school is a great transition, teaching students to think for themselves and the high school has been an amazing preparation for college. In addition, the college counselors were fantastic and helped my daughter find a school that was a perfect fit for her.

Sewickley Academy is a great fit for our family. We came from a parochial elementary school. We researched high schools thoroughly. We considered Central/Oakland Catholic and OLSH. Sewickley Academy does not teach religion, but it does reinforce values. My children receive so much more than text book knowledge. They have been taught how to be positive leaders, caring individuals and philanthropists. All their clubs at school include an aspect of giving back. It is not a "me" environment, but a sharing of talents for the entire community. I also love the senior school block schedule. The classes are college prep, but the schedule is a college schedule. My son started college this year and he was already a strep ahead in time management. I credit the block schedules. With sports, the school produces great teams. They have a no cut policy. And, academics come first. The teachers are available to help during the day and immediately after school. SA also has a fabulous college guidance program. No school is perfect, but this school is perfect for our family.

Sewickley Academy has been worth every penny for our family. Our two sons have attended K-5 at the Lower (elementary) school and the benefits to our sons have been incalculable. The teachers are engaged and creative, the administrators are student-centered and attentive and the students are supportive of each other. All of my initial fears of it being a bastion of socio-economic elitism that lacked diversity were immediately assuaged; the classes reflect diversity in every form. While the school certainly has wealthy students, working-class families such as mine are well-represented. It has a family-like atmosphere and my wife and I have found it to be a wecoming environment. It is academically-challenging but supportive, ensuring that each student ispushed to achieve her/his individual best. In summary, I consider Sewickley Academy to be the best investment for our family. You have many less expensive options for your children's education - but none better.

This is by far the best private school our children have attended. After moving a lot overseas and attending international schools I can honestly say SA is even better than an international school. The teachers are caring , kind and life -long learners. They have a solid curriculum and execute it to a T. Rigorous academics even in the Lower School but great balance in making sure the kids have FUN learning. Our kids love the weekly assembly in the LS and the character building. It is community of respect that embraces diversity and is led by great administrators who genuinely care for the students and get to know them. The principal in LS hosts " Lunch with Mr.Hansen" with a small group of students each week to get to know them and interact in a more personal level. It is an AMAZING community and our family couldn't be happier. This is the BEST private school in Pittsburgh! and we are glad to be a part of it.

Why I chose Sewickley academy for my three kids? As patents we should acknowledge that we have a responsibility to humanity. Raising our children to be intelligent, caring, strong, wise and focused is our task. While education starts at home it is imperative to give these kids the best education in the world. We cannot leave the raising of our kids in the hands of a broken system. Higher education is one of the greatest gifts we can give our children. Why settle for the propaganda-filled, rhetoric that has people trapped in the chains of the ever decreasing middle class why cheer for a local school team when 95% of them have lost already. Why wear school colors with pride when 78% of the graduating class will never see a day of collage and of the few that do most will struggle and never complete it. The public school system is broken. Watch the documentary called Waiting For Superman It is your responsibility to push humanity into achieving greater advancements by maturing the generations to come. Andrew Carnegie said this school is for the sons of workers He greatly understood investing in our kids education will be our greatest legacy. Sewickley Academy is AMAZING !!!

Philanthropy is part of what makes the school so amazing. The endowment and annual fund make it possible for the school to provide the breadth and depth of outstanding programs and great teachers to deliver them, as well as make a Sewickley Academy education as affordable as possible for families interested in options beyond public school. In my opinion, there is no better investment than my children s education.

We moved here from another state and this is our 4th year at Sewickley Academy. Initially my children were spread throughout all 3 schools and now we have 2 in the senior school and 1 in middle school. They are having incredible experiences and growing personally, socially, and academically through the support and commitiment of this school. The teachers are so encouraging, have such a positive impact, and care about what they do! The arts, athletics, and service learning experiences have further enhanced my children's all around growth and sefl esteem. The college preparatory focus of the senior school offers rigorous academics in an enironment of support among faculty and peers and step by step guidance and assistance through the college process that is invaluable! We are seeing our children happy and making great friendships in a place where they are motivated to learn, try their best, and grow in their self confidence. To us, this is a process that began in their early school years and goes through their senior school years. Attending Sewickley Academy has been a major part in that and a special place for our family.

Our daughter, currently a sophmore at Sewickley Academy, came as a freshman from public school and was immediately assigned an advisor who she meets with on a regular basis. With the personalized individual attention afforded by smaller class sizes and more attentive teachers, the Senior School has provided an outstanding as well as challenging opportunity for her academically. In addition the wide range of extra curricular activities, including the athletic, music and fine arts programs available at Sewickley Academy have enriched her development as a confident, well rounded individual. Being involved in SA's art program has uncovered artistic abilities that we were previously unaware of! Our daughter is flourishing in SA's college- like environment and we are becoming very confident that she will be well prepared for the college of her choice.

We have been members of the Sewickley Academy community for two years now with children in pre-k and first grade. Our experience at Sewickley Academy thus far has been beyond our expectations. The children are challenged academically, not just in reading, writing, and arithmetic, but they are also exposed early on to Spanish, science, computers and library. The lower school curriculum also includes art, music, PE, and dance. Sewickley Academy is an unusually warm and tight-knit community, parents are actively involved, and teachers are responsive to students' needs and parents' concerns. We could not be happier with the academic and extracurricular opportunities it is providing for our children.

It's not worth the money. The school puts their endowment before the welfare of the student. Check out the website, the only thing you can find are links how to donate. I believe they repeatedly failed my kids.
