Theres a lot thats wrong about CM, and it only seems to be going downhill each year. Special Ed. is a joke at this district. For a district that likes to claim they are great for special ed, it took over half of my schooling to force them to get me the support I needed because they just do not care or want to do it. There are way too many students there for the teachers to be able to care individually. I had a teacher here that told us, I might remember your name this year, but I cant promise I will next year if you come say hi because there is just too many of you. If you want to know your teachers, stay away from here. A majority of the students here are rich kids that think they are better than everyone else. The education is very average, despite what they will tell you. There are plenty of things that I had to catch up on when I got to college after attending here. I have plenty of stories to tell of how CM has messed people over throughout my time in school there.

The school board and administrations focus is not on the education that they are giving students. Their focus is on making the school look perfect and seeing how many CM logo stickers and blue and gold paint they can put into the schools. The robotics room was forced to move from where it was located directly next to the wood shop so that students could use the resources in it, for an esports room. Shop classes are also no longer offered at the high school, but there are two levels of esports classes. Dont let people fool you into thinking this is a good school. If you have the money to live in CM, go pay to live in a different Pittsburgh suburb, because this one isnt what its all cracked up to be.

THIS SCHOOL IS UNACCEPTABL, I HAVE NEVER BEEN DISSAPOINTED AND I THINK THEY NEED MORE LEARNING ON HOW TO FOCUS ON THE "POPULAR KIDS" AND MORE OF THEIR MENTAL HEALTH STUDENTS. THERE IS NO RESON WHY THE KIDS ESPECALLY AFRICAN AMERICAN STUDENTS SHOULD BE COMPLAINING ON THE AMOUNT OF RASCIM AND DISCRIMANATION AND THEY ARE NOT DOING NOTHING ABOUT IT.

Terrible School District. My husband and I are extremely disappointed in my son's high school experience. The district is way to big. Teachers and guidance counselors do nothing for the kids. Bullying and Drugs are a major issue in the high school. Everyone just turns a blind eye. Nothing will ever change. If you have a choice, do not send your kids here.

School claimed to be able to aid kids with disabilities and made many promises. (for clarification, I have autism, and was a member of the gifted program) They blocked my case manager for doing her job at every opportunity, and it took the threat of a lawsuit for them to actually work with me and my mom to get me to graduate. I will admit, there was maybe 3-4 good teachers I've had, but the fact that my brain has repressed a lot of memories from high school as a trauma response should tell you everything. Also, the one chemistry teacher threw a hissy fit and punished the entire class for "stealing" his Christmas tree (he misplaced it in a cabinet). He also revealed to the outgoing class that I was in, but also the incoming class that I had a GIEP, and stated that I wasn't living up to the fact that I had it... In front of like 50 kids... He said this to a depressed, bullied, autistic kid who was on the verge of crying... and saw nothing wrong with that. Ok, rant over.

This school is absolutely amazing. This year was my first year making high honors overall which all the schools I have attended in the past. Many of my teachers are well understanding about mental health needs. Although last year was horrible due to Covid, I did do much better this year due to in school learning! So many of my teachers are absolutely sweet and I do hope next year, as I turn to become a junior, the other teachers are understanding. This past year I gained confidence to try out for Bella Voce although the choir director, Maggie Sisson, was leaving to move. Regardless of my favorite teacher moving, I will still proceed to do what I like most; singing.

School policies not only interfere with the education of children with disabilities but actually limit their ability to be functional members of the school itself. Despite the reputation of the school district, this high school is not a place for students with disabilities.

If you are looking for a military prep school feel, this is the place to be. The leadership inspires fear and blind obedience, anything else is subject to extreme psychological (and even physical) discipline or exclusion from classes.

Reporting bullying is seen as being too weak to stay in school, suicidal thoughts are looked at as a means for suspension, and bullies are often viewed in the best light as 'saviors' and 'positive role models' even when they are caught in the act.

Many of the teachers are helpful in the 40 minutes of class but totally unavailable after that time is up.

The students mainly develop their strength of character in spite of school officials, not because of them. Some teachers (ex. Rick Bell and Natalie Montini) do encourage positive character development. They teach only elective classes, but ones well worth the time if it fits a schedule.

Well below average. This is an environment that harbours hatred and polarizes children's thoughts. They learn to stop thinking critically and take information at face value, regardless of the source. Unlike what high school is designed to do, Canon-McMillan High School actually makes its students less prepared for life than when they left middle school.

One of the few minority students that went here. Was moved to sit with other minority students in all my classes and was subject to subliminal racism from the teachers. Students harbored strong resentment towards me for "not being white" and I was frequently told to get a dictionary and learn english from the gym teachers. I don't know what other world these other guys are in, but I for one, am glad that I moved. Enjoy this school if you can. The teachers overall are very helpful but it's not worth the trouble.

I have an an excellent experience with CMHS. I can't say anything bad. The faculty works very hard with each student's individual learning needs.
