Im writing this as someone who once had a lot of faith in this school. Before COVID, it truly felt like a safe and supportive environmentmy three children all attended, and we had positive experiences for years. Sadly, that changed drastically in recent times.
My daughter was the target of ongoing bullying, and when we reached out for help, we were met with silence and inaction. The situation was especially troubling because the student involved had a personal connection to the principal, and it felt like the school prioritized protecting its image and relationships over the well-being of the students.
We ultimately had no choice but to transfer our daughter to another high school, where she could finally begin to heal. But the emotional toll of what she went through will stay with herand usfor a long time. She wasnt the only victim either. That same student was suspended just six weeks before graduation for bullying another girl, proving this behavior was part of a larger, ongoing issue.
I share our story not to cause division, but to raise awareness. I know were not alonethere are likely many other families whove gone through something similar and felt unheard. Even driving past the school now brings back painful memories of the nights our daughter cried herself to sleep.
If youre a parent with a child in this school, I urge you to stay informed, stay involved, and dont be afraid to speak up. Every child deserves to feel safe, supported, and protected at school.

CB West is a great school for teachers and students. It is in a great location, providing many opportunities for enrichment. West offers many additional opportunities that none of the other schools in cb provide.

Common sense, common courtesy and respect prevails even when people/ parents dont think they or their children should reciprocate.
The goal in this school is to prepare the next generations to be able to open their minds, listen to all sides and to be an independent thinker to work for a common goal for the betterment of everyone not just select individuals/ groups.
The goal is to raise everyone up to their individual full potential not to drag everyone down to the lowest denominator.

CB School District has become a nightmare. The new board is using the district as a political tool to push far right extremism on teachers, students, and parents. This has never been a district that necessarily embraced diversity, but my kids used to feel safe enough because CBSD encouraged the idea of supporting others. That's no longer the case. While they may say they do, the board is now removing books, changing curriculum, restricting teachers from showing open support for marginalized kids. They have even banned teachers from having a pride flag in their classroom. Now that they are looking to change curriculum to also align with their political agenda, a thorough education will no longer be available. Don't be fooled by the fancy buildings and test scores. If you are looking to move here and public schools are important, look elsewhere. If you are a minority family looking for a district where your family will feel supported, run from this district.

My son went to CB West. He graduated with honors from Drew University in NJ this spring. His results speak for themselves.
