We are so lucky to call ourselves part of the Vernfield family. My child struggles with mental health + behavioral challenges and the school has not only been unbelievably accommodating, they've gone out of their way to see to it he has the proper support he needs. He is now thriving.
The teachers + staff genuinely care about the students and it shows. The principal goes above and beyond for the kids and works hard to make sure everyone feels safe and like they belong.
The home & school works hard to put on many fun events and activities for students and families, which effectively creates a true sense of community. We are thankful we decided to move from another neighboring district and up to SASD.

Not a school I will recommend for people of Colour. Your child may end up traumatized by the level of unconscious bias from the teachers. They will truly make the child feel like a fly in the bowl of milk.
Please speak up for your child and watch out for a change in behaviour. If you feel your ward is being picked on, it is probably true.

The experience at this school has been disappointing

This is an excellent school! Children are treated so well and are always so cheerful and happy! The staff goes out of their way to help students especially those with deficits. The principal is great in helping students one on one. Any parent teacher meeting offer full info and input and never do anything regarding education without parent input and opinions. If you think another path is better we all discuss and come up with new plans. My kids went there for 3 years and have moved on to middle school. VF helped make the transition easier. We will miss VF! No wonder they are rated so highly! Many clubs and activities to get involved in. Teachers will contact you with good comments, not just poor ones. Trust the principal. He's a good guy. They were also great in transitioning Lower Salford students over when they shut down. So much more to saya

Awful school with uneducated teachers who do not know how to use all of the state of the art technology that they flaunt. This school in particular has an alarmingly high rate of children on psych meds. 4 parents in my neighborhood were talked into putting their perfectly fine well behaved children on medication because they were having trouble concentrating. Large Pharmaceutical nearby, makes me wonder if there is a connection. Teachers are not very involved, children always look unhappy and are set home with more homework than they should for their age. Most of the other parents are happy with the school, either. 3 families moved out of town this year because they were NOT pleased with this school. We are considering moving as well.

My 2nd grade daughter was sent home consistently with over 5 pages of homework every night for things she had not yet learned in school. When we asked the teacher to help us understand why our child did not understand the work, the teacher was short with us and took over a week to respond. This teacher was asked to step down due to complaints and is no longer a teacher.... she is working with special needs (thats terrible)

Favoritism is a big problem at this school among teachers who favor students who have parents that go to their church etc.

Our children attend Vernfield Elementary School and we couldn't be more impressed by the principal and caring staff. Staff members volunteer to work with students after school in inovative programs including, Reading Olympics, Math Olympics, Student Council, Book Groups, Just Say No Club, Dodge Ball, Parent/Community Evening events not to mention Parent/Child/Teacher nights to dance, sing, read and play together. Flexible grouping in the upper grades means kids get individual attention. Our children really soar with the Vernfield Hawks.

This school is incredible. The children are pushed to reach their potential. The teachers are top notch.
