This school is the worst school a parent can put their children in. Principal, and Family coaches are awful. They are rude and dismissive. They do not have take any of concerns serious and only willing to falsely mark your kids absent to call truancy. This is by far one of the worst school. Please stay away. It will cause your child anxiety and depression.

I decided to switch from Reach to Agora and immediately regretted it. Its fine for my highschoolers,still not great but its okay. Now I would not recommend this school for children with Autism and behavioral issues. Being on camera is not optional and they will force your child to sit for 7 hours a day in live lessons. There is no flexibility at all and if you question it at all they are rude and remind you that it is not optional. If I wanted them to be in class on camera all day every day I could have just sent them to.public school. My son has severe social anxiety and I have explained this until I was blue in the face. They don't care. We are transferring out after not even a month. Would definitely not recommend

Kindergarten was excellent for my high function autistic child. First grade not so much. The teacher is awful and dismissive and has no patience for special needs kids. The administration is also terrible, from learning coach to principal, they are combative and dismissive. Also be diligent and careful with paying attention to attendance. They will mark you child absent even though they were present. Will definitely be looking into other options for my son. If I could rate 0 stars I would.

The school was ok up until recently when the assigned family coach decided to be very unreasonable and very passive aggressive. She ignores my calls when I have concerns but emails me after hours (12 am ) when she knows I can't reply. She sent a threatening letter via certified mail saying I was in violation of a SAIP for my son when he shouldn't have been on an improvement plan to begin with according to the laws in PA. After speaking with her about this my son was marked absent the following 2 days as if she purposely marked him absent. If a child logs in late, they will mark them absent. Also I experienced connectivity issues and my son was in class but the wifi signal kept dropping. He continued to log back in until the issue was resolved and they could see that he did but he was still marked absent. I feel that my children are being unfairly targeted. A teacher emailed my other child that is a student there and spoke to her in such a rude, degrading manner about an assignment that was not even due yet. My child has Straight A's and has had them the entire time since being enrolled. Another teacher is assigning work on the weekend when school is not in session, then closes the assignment by 3pm therefore causing a zero if the work is not done. No one expects to have work assigned on the weekend, so my child got a bad grade as a result of this. Our family coach lied about being able to opt out of the PSSA's when it is permissable in PA. I took 2 of my children for testing and someone threatened to shoot someone at the testing site so I refused to bring my children back the remaining days, this is when I was contacted and informed that I could opt them out so that they would not be marked absent. My oldest son achieved all A's and B's on his report card which constitutes honor roll designation. When I asked our family coach about it she said she thinks it's GPA based and my son needed a 3.8 and he had a 3.75. When I mentioned that he received honor roll before with without a 3.8 GPA but based on having all A's and B's she gave some made up excuse. Seems as if she has some jealousy and control issues. They sent an email threatening to lock my oldest who is a senior out of classes due to meningitis vaccine records when I already communicated with them the date and time of her doctors appointment. I am working on putting my children back in traditional school and obtaining legal counsel. I will not continue to allow my family to be mistreated.

Agora Cyber Charter school has been great for my child. They are very accommodating of students with special needs. You can choose to do synchronous (live classes) or asynchronous classes. The family coaches are very involved with the parents. Overall I'm very satisfied with their curriculum.

This school (agora) turned my child away because her father isnt in her life but his name is on her birth certificate.. I repeatedly spoke to members of faculty about his absence and they approved the paperwork after and the only I had to do was get the immunization and I DID and once I did put on the paperwork a week later they rejected the letter about his absence after they already approved it and when I spoke to someone again they told me wright a letter stating why he isnt around.. I HAVE NEVER HEARD OF A SCHOOL TURNING AWAY A CHILD BECAUSE THEIR FATHER ISNT AROUND!!! Id like the number to whoever is funding this school because Im definitely reporting this disgusting behavior!! Like thats getting too personal and I feel disrespected because this has never been a problem and Ive been taking care of my child for 17 years enrolled her into school many different times and this has never been a problem until now and whoever is the front desk person or whatever definitely needs to get fired because I honestly believe if I was white this wouldnt be a problem.

I was a student at this school all the way from kindergarten to 12th grade. When I was younger, I tested a lot lower because I wasn't trying. As I got older, I got straight A's. Me nor my mom had any idea that I was in an under average level class until I tried to get asynchronous and they told me that I couldn't because of the level I was on. I, as a preteen, had to email the PRINCIPAL on my own to ask to be leveled up to a proper level. Nobody told me the day my classes would switch. When I got asynchronous, it was absolutely horrendous. I was counted as absent on hundreds of occasions. When I went to classes because I was genuinely struggling, no help was given. Teachers were rude, ignorant, and overall avoidant. Nobody asked why my grades fell. Nobody asked if I was struggling. Absolutely nobody. When I was in like the 5th grade I almost got expelled because someone read the chat logs and thought that I cursed in the chat. I again had to email the principal completely on my own because my mom didn't even believe that I didn't do it. They also accused my wife, who has the same name and was in the same class. It wasn't her either. Not once did they ever apologize to me. I can't even believe my mom left me in such an awful school for my entire life. I graduated, but I learned almost nothing. Everything I know is nearly self taught.

The school in general is terrible when it comes to learning. I have to pay private tutoring for my child. Their "synchronized" classes are not really synchronized. Usually, kids are provided a link to watch a YouTube video , then the class is over. Your child would learn more from YouTube than from Agora.
The special education department is just terrible. It would take up to 10 days for the special ed. to respond to parents' emails or concerns. Never seen this level of incompetence in any other schools.

I have done many different cyber schools and Agora is by far the worst one. The teachers are absolutely awful. The coursework is terrible. 10/10 do NOT recommend this school. You can learn more by watching TV than attending this school.

My child started Kindergarten with Agora and it was an entirely different experience than 1st grade has been so far.
I am extremely disappointed in the current teacher. There is zero fun, no social aspect, very few breaks, and a complete lack of patience for these young children.
We will be looking into different school options for next year.

Agora was our school of choice for my sons first year of school (kindergarten), during the pandemic. Agora is a very organized school and the teachers are wonderful. However, this school lacked resources for my special needs child. While my experience with the family coaches were great, my experience with administration was not. At the start we had a wonderful sped coordinator but sadly she resigned . During this transition, Jennifer Clarke replaced her and this is when things took a turn for the worse. She was unprepared, rude and dismissive of all my concerns. She made our transition a hard one . Being a special needs parent is challenging enough ; add being a single parent to the equation and you have almost impossible circumstances. This lady made no accommodations for any of our needs and made it almost impossible for us to receive the help we needed. Overall, I would rate this school a 3/5

Best choice for students that need an environment free of distractions, are shy to ask for help, and need teachers that will work with them. Live classes every day just like a brick-and-mortar school but without the problems that peers can cause (no bullying, no distractions, no class clown). Teachers are able to use the whole time to teach rather than half the class disciplining or correcting homework. Opportunities for socializing in clubs and "days out."
Definitely recommend.

I myself graduated from Agora back in 2011 and it was a great experience. I transferred from a public school which was a terrible environment. All together the high school experience with Agora was great I had no complaints.
Now I have kids of my own and my oldest is currently in his third year with Agora and I am so happy with our decision to enroll him. The teachers have been wonderful. He was able to learn and progress so quickly with Agora, they identified the things he needed improvement on and gave him the extra assistance in that area quickly getting him caught up. The teachers make it very clear what needs to be done and when. At the beginning of every week there is a weekly plan sent out which is super helpful and sets the expectations for the week. The students are able to interact with each other and with the teacher during the live classes which I really like because my son was a little shy, but now he is very comfortable talking with everyone and he is enjoying it. I am really impressed with the connection the teachers make with the kids. At the end of each year so far it has been so bittersweet because of the relationship that is built during the year. There is so much more of a connection built than I ever experienced through public school. I am beyond happy with our experience so far and I am excited for my son's future with Agora and to get my other child started with them as well.

Both my 5th and 2nd grader go to Agora and for us personally it has been a fantastic transition from brick and mortar schools. You absolutely have to go into this program ready to work though, if you don't necessarily have the time to put into it then it probably won't be the best option. In my experience both of my boys have learned a great deal more than they did in their regular elementary school. My 5th grader went from being a grade level behind in reading to being at grade level in the first year that he was at Agora. Both of my boys have just soared with understanding math better and they have so much fun in science especially when they have hands on projects to do. I do not plan on going back to traditional brick and mortar anytime soon because I feel like I would be doing my kids a disservice. Like I said if you as the parent and your child is willing to put in the work required then you will not regret your decision on attending Agora.

Ha! My son had zero consistency in all of his teachers attending class with no substitutes in place. At least once a week classes were cancelled for things like moving and vacations. Dont expect substitutes either, this school doesnt have them.

The approach to homework is just as good as it would be at a Brick and Mortar school (at least from my experience). While it is more effective at higher grades (6-12), it still presents well all throughout. You are assigned homework at the end of most classes and you are given due dates, while some teachers are more lenient than others you will still fail if it isnt completed. The teachers push for completetion as much as they can but honestly, they can do no more than a B&M teacher could. The responsibility ultimately falls on the student and the parents.

Considering the difference between an online school and a physical school the teachers are doing the best they can. They have office hours, live sessions, emails, phone calls, peer learning time etc. Heck, they even get together with students who aren't doing well and offer solutions/come up with plans to help the student succeed. Regarding live sessions, it's not as though a student is just given books and told to go off on their own. Teachers actually teach the things the students are learning about using a range of media.

My time so far at Agora has been amazing. I will admit that when I first started in 7th I did have a hard time getting in with things and I was dealing with emotional issues from previous experiences at my last school. Even then I still managed to truly connect with my teachers and enjoy that school year. I am currently in my 8th-grade year and I will be staying on for Highschool ( at least until senior year). My teachers this year have truly helped me grow as a person and develop my own sense of self-worth. I have been presented with more opportunities then I could have ever hoped for and I know I will continue to thrive here. I do want to touch on a few topics in this review though.

Firstly, I would not recommend that anyone enroll their K-5 students in Agora. While this school does have a great curriculum it can be extremely time consuming and slightly confusing dealing with the younger students workload and schedule.

For those in higher grades, I would say that you shouldn't enroll unless you are prepared to be dedicated to your schooling. Online school requires a lot more self-discipline than a physical school and it's not an easy way to slack off either. A lot of people seem to have the misconception that in online school you just sleep all day, have a small amount of homework and you can do whatever you want. You can't, you will still fail. You need to set a schedule and actually work on the assignments and the work that is given to you.

For those worried about bullying, I will say that it is practically nonexistent at this school. The chat in live sessions is moderated and all sessions are recorded. If the chat does happen to get a bit out of line, a teacher will step in immediately and rectify the situation.

Overall I would say Agora is a really good school for those who want to get away from bullying or become more confident in themselves. Or for those who are seeking more of a challenge from school but want to work at their own pace. While Agora may work for me it may not for and parents and students alike should keep in mind that everyone experience is different and you can only gather so much from a review.

This has been the worst mistake I have ever made. I was locked out of my sapphire portal to excuse my son's absences. I was reset so i went in to excuse him for each day he had missed, I received an email telling me what could and could not be excused! Wow. Not to mention if you student is 5-7 minutes late he or she loses credit for an entire day! We have a coach that we have met one time. Who is going to bat for these student teachers Lie often and how can a student have an 85%in a class he supposedly never attends! Its defiantly a BLACK /WHITE Issue and thats not good. More importantly to accuse a parent of lying for a child is very disrespectful. We were told credit recovery was available and that was totally untrue. This just sucks for kids who had trouble in a class room setting to be told LIE AFTER LIE and now feel cyber bullied Oh no. Where does family complaints and issues go to?????

This school effectively deals with bullying? the teachers bully black students and have no respect for anyone rights a parent. The family couch is Child protecting service. THey seem more worried about whats going on in your home that teaching the black and other kinds of colors and races. They have no respect for the parental rights or input in what they learn some of the teacher been to jail also. The jew kids get more learning time undercover also they do this during spring break and other holidays. If you disagree with anything the teacher teach or make your child do even if it against you religion expect child protection at the door. It had to get anyone at all at the top for help or even complain. This school is evil to save your child do not send them to each failed time they sent Child protection to my home and they find nothing it was just a way to get inside the house to investigate to and terrorize you and your family into submission to there agenda parent beware if you believe in Jesus you better be careful around this teacher's or black at this school. It depends on the teacher if the teachers are passionate about the subjects they're teaching then they will go to great lengths to help you comprehend it. If they are teachers that are always too busy for help sessions or leave you on your own when you are stuck with a homework question, then chances are there ineffective.

This school is terrible. My K student couldn't understand anything the teacher was teaching to him. Please note they do not use k12 books, it's just there for fun. The work is extremely confusing. It's nearly impossible to learn or hear anything in live classes.

As a parent my first day in this school was extremely frustrating. I have never been this frustrated in any previous cyber schools. I tried this school because I absolutely love the k12 curriculum. It's amazing but unfortunately they do not use it. So I'm withdrawing both my children.

Do not send your children to this school in grades k-5 maybe higher grade levels, it will very confusing for younger kids. If you ask my children what have there learn so far in this school. Their answer will be absolutely nothing.

I pulled my son out of our local public school due to a combination of bullying, and the stress the teachers impose on students to over perform. I have to say that in the success of the student depends on their learning coach - the parent. My child just finished up the 8th grade and couldn't be happier. Anytime there has been a misunderstanding or question, I can email his teachers and get an answer very quickly. Kids are given a lot of freedom in an environment like this, but if they are not disciplined or self directed learners already, it is up to the parents to teach the student that with that freedom comes a great deal of responsibility. Students do have to stay on top of their assignments. It's not spoon fed to them, but that's a skill that needs to be developed in life anyway. This learning environment may not be for everyone, but I've seen my child not only thrive, but his anxiety and depression has dissipated. Still, I can't stress enough that the parents need to be involved. Check their work. Ask them to teach you what they learned, sit in on some classes, or watch the recordings. I strongly believe that after some time of doing this, the child will be able to do it on their own, but this is a great way to learn for a student who does not thrive in a typical environment.

If you are not a parent that is on top of your kids every hour on the hour of the day then do not send your child to this school. The live sessions are great. But the lessons are not. Yes I said lessons as opposed to homework. They call the lessons homework but really they are full in depth LESSONS. While your child is in school for hours with the live sessions they spend more hours on the individual lessons assigned for homework. Homework is not supposed to be a lesson but just reinforced work they did in school. Unfortunately this is not the case in any of the subjects. I inquired about a question on one of the end of lesson assessments that was contradictory and confusing. The Teacher seemed equally surprised and agreeable with my response to it that she advised me to contact the K12 team. That was it. She didn't even say that she'd overlook it for the grade or anything. If you are a parent that believes kids are being tested too much already, be prepared for your child to test daily, weekly, monthly and yearly with this school. That is not an understatement. I am taking my child out tomorrow and wish anyone else the best of luck if you decide on this school or choose to stick it out.

I was nervous about homeschooling in the beginning, I didn't want to fail my only granddaughter. After learning how things worked, we were off, we had such a good school year, I'm returning for the 2016-2017 school year. Awesome curriculum, awesome teachers and a awesome little girl who is excited about returning the Agora. She flourished last school year, and I'm expecting nothing less this year.

They have a different standard every month that they do a class with the students and have them make a project etc. To show how they can be that was ie., Respect they ask what they(students) feel the meening is, they give the meaning, and then they ask them to show by writing and/or drawing ways they can show respect or be more respectful to someone.

Though there have been many issues this year with the transitioning from the k12 to the Agora by itself, they are getting it together. They are getting families involved not only in the way the children are learning but it many other areas. There seems to be hope for them as long as they do not allow the board to control every aspect of the school they will be a good school again!

The teachers this year have been fantastic. Given the fact that the Board fired over 130 people, the teachers and Learning Coaches have been inundated with extra work. It is the Board that is the problem. They need to be removed asap.

The Board of Trustees has complete run of the school. They have grossly mismanaged funds and pass the blame onto others. They repeatedly and continuously break the school's by-laws. They refuse to answer to anyone. Agora is being flushed down the drain by power hungry fools who have proven to not care for the teachers, Learning Coaches, and the students.

I have never been a part an organization that was more unorganized, chaotic, and disfunctional in my life!!!!!! I have had nothing but problems ranong from: classes not working, teachers not showing up , and the fact that I as the parent have to grade assignments and act as the educator. They pass this off as "we want the parent to have an active part in their child's education"!! I did more worok than they did. Every problem i had i was sent to another voicemail or another dept. Everytime i didn't kno what to do i was sent to another person. I was told "don't worry about it your child cannot fail 8th grade its the law". WHAT!!!!!!!!!! what does that mean. My child was placxed in 7th grade for the first 4 1/2 weeks of school she was supposed to be in 8th grade. THe 5th week of school they finally put her in the correct grade. they then dumped 23 assignments on her and told her to get them done. She tried to get it all done while working on current assignments. She failed, I failed and the school stated " don't worry about it" we are not going to count the first marking period for any of our students due to technical issues! WHAT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! This school is HORRIBLE. The work is confusing and the teachers can't help as much as they would be able to in our old tranditional school. I know they want to help, but it's nearly impossible for them to do it effectively. My child lost half a year of instruction because there were always so many tech issues. Going back to a regular school.

My son went to Agora Cyber for years. I am a person that struggles to get by so am very appreciative of the internet reimbursement. However, my sons last year at Agora I had problems getting my reimbursement. They had claimed that I did not submit "proper" paperwork. I did submit my paperwork, properly as I always have. I had written an inquired many times. I never did see it. So I left to a school that does give reimbursement's. Hopefully without the hassle that I had received. I hate having a fit over this small amount of money but the reality of it is, while I am raising my child, I am working a whole lot less and bringing home not much to live on. Since I do indeed pay out the money for internet, I was counting on that reimbursement. I was rather worked up about this since I did indeed do my part of the deal. Someone told me to report them to the Dept of Education. I don';t know what good that will do, but I indeed have the thoughts. I do still have the paperwork of proof of my internet expenses.
I think this situation became messed up the way many do with Agora. They are unorganized in their faculty and what they are doing. I have seen signs of this many times over. The right hand don't know what the left hand is doing. It took me loosing money to say the heck with it and move on.
My son is now in Connections Academy. It seems to be a better layout and less complicated then what Agora had for a website. I appreciate that.

My son was a 3rd grade student at Agora last year when it was still partnered with K12 and the experience was very good. This year, it is now 3 days into the 4th grade school year and he has yet to be able to attend one class because of technical difficulties - on their end, not ours. The new system is totally different and very confusing; the teachers don't seem to be able to explain it very well. We are still unsure who his teachers are or how to access his work. Even after sending emails, attending orientation sessions and asking questions for 3 days, we are still unable to figure it out. It should not be this hard. Worse, I think my son is being counted absent for these days, even though he has no listed classes. The one class he did have listed yesterday, we were unable to enter. It was just a blank screen, no many how many times we tried. We are giving it a week (2 more days) and if things do not smooth out, we are finding a different school. Our son did so well here last year. This is a very large disappointment.

I don't feel that this school develops honesty, integrity, or fairness in its students because of the fact that the teachers in the online classes never enforce rules, and they allow kids to hand in assignments that are weeks overdue. This teaches laziness and dishonesty in students, and doesn't at all prepare them to be honest, respectable people.It also teaches students that it's okay to not follow rules, and that rules really don't matter.

I did Agora for 3 years from 6-8th grade, and it was very bad. The teachers never enforced the rules, kids were allowed to hand in assignments a marking period after it was due and the teachers didn't care, and kids were always allowed to private chat (which isn't allowed, according to the class rules) and come to class 30+ minutes late. There was hardly any participation in the online classes because of how poorly the teachers reinforced the rules. Another negative aspect about Agora is that in my three years of being there, I only had one teacher who properly taught all of the materials and made sure you knew what you were doing for homework and understood it. Overall, the teachers are very unprofessional, a majority of the students don't participate, and rules don't seem to matter. If you are looking for a good, trustworthy cyber charter school, then I would highly suggest PA Cyber. But please, don't join Agora Cyber Charter School. It will only make your child more frustrated and confused with their schoolwork!

My child and I experienced a horrible year. They lack proper tech assistance and do not respond to parents. Their family coordinator assigned to us spend more time text she was busy at testing sites but never assisted us with finding a resolution. My child went from a B average student to barely passing according to their records since their system would not record my child's completed grades accurately. Tests that were completed several times would list as M for missing. She repeatedly e-mail teachers and I the principal with no response or resolutions. So much for the child coming first. Clearly the school is in for Federal Dollars and not the student. WHAT A WASTE OF A YEAR FOR MY CHILD.

The only reason I chose Agora is because it's online and I wanted more freedom my senior year. It was great in the fact that I was done with class at 11 am, but the teachers are bad and the staff is rude. My family coach was a nasty person and accused me of skipping class. I have always been an A and B student. Agora wasn't for me and didn't fit my personality. I didn't choose it because I couldn't deal with regular school or I was pregnant like most of the students, I literally chose it because I wanted an easy senior year to transition to college. They force us to do this live session called eagle connection, which is basically "home room" and I had to log on at 3:30 in the afternoon! It makes NO SENSE. Every other school is done at 3:30. Seniors don't get done any earlier like most schools either. Agora goes to June 18th or something. At my old school, seniors are done at the end of May! overall, the teachers and staff that I dealt with were rude and not sympathetic towards my specific needs, but I liked that I was done with school early in the morning.

The school is wonderful. When you hear a lot of the complaints it is because the parent is not giving there time along with the student. Its called home school for a reason, because you are the learning coach. I sit in on all live classes and the reason a teacher marks a child absent is they constantly call on them and they don't answer her. The next excuse I hear daily is the mic is broke. Come on every day your mic is broke. Take some responsibility and buy a spare come on people. The work is hard but if you stick to a routine the child learns at a good pace. Our learning coach is always there to help and is never rude except to the parents of the children who just don't seem to get that this is not a free pass to let your child sleep all day. You have to help the teacher on your end. This is a life style to accept. If your not willing to give your child 100% this is not for you. Keep them in public school.

Overall this is an excellent school! Great teachers, excellent communication, and students interact daily in class through web classroom and regularly offered field trips to the zoo, aquarium, skating parties, school events, etc. Great focus on individualized learning plan which makes it very hard for a student to "fall behind," as school is able to adjust curriculum as long as you are willing to communicate with everyone. Reviews less than 5 star are a prime example of parents who do not choose to help their child and are not willing to communicate with school. Communication is key to your child's success, whether in a brick and morter or any other school. Nothing but great experiences here! Highly recommend this school, going on 2nd year with 2 children!

Nothing but issues. My son is severly ADD but very smart and brick and morter was just too distracting. After enrolling him during summer break before 10th grade they completely changed the attendance policy relying solely on the teacher to take proper attendance and not decide to count the student absent because they "didn't engage or participate". We moved at the beginning of senior year and have sumitted a change of address twice that still has not been processed but they have called me twice about returning supplies that we never received because all shipments are on hold until, you guessed it, change of address can be confirmed. The icing on the cake was when my son excitedly checked the mail looking for his diploma only to find an empty envelope because it was mailed without being sealed and I still have not heard back from administration after leaving two voicemails over the last two days. The family coach is very flighty to put it mildly and never produced results when contacted. Do yourself a favor and keep exploring all of your options before choosing K12/Agora Cyber Charter.

If you're interested in Agora Cyber Charter School, please, for the sake of your child, move on to another school. The curriculum is horrible, incredibly difficult or too easy, my daughter is in eighth grade and my son and other daughter that both completed college had trouble helping her. The family coaches are beyond rude and when calling to inquire about my daughter's report card I was hung up on. Before that I was told that I was "even lucky" that the "Family coach" had her phone with her. The teachers do not know what they are teaching, and the school at times has added on nonexistent absences when my daughter was in class that day. save yourself the headache and utilize another cyber school. The "principal & head of school" are more of a CEO figure and sends out automatic emails when you reenroll in the school each quarter or when they need you to go to Harrisburg and rally for them to get more money. and they send you boxes of books and materials that you NEVER use. For the sake of your child, don't choose agora.

Agora Cyber Charter School seems to be set up purely to maintain their charter without regard to real results. Actual teacher led time was months below the standard, once false orientation, computer downtime, and teacher reassignment (teachers will cover off site testing facilities without a replacement assigned for students from other areas. The amount of time is significant. Teachers may not be available weeks at a time. The computer downtime is always inefficient, but at its worst can shut down the school. One outage this year lasted over a week. Worse is that the administrators categorize this time as student absences. Perhaps to disguise the downtime as student's failure rather than the schools.

We are new to Agora this year, and new to cyber schooling as well. My four children attended a charter school for several years until bullying just became too much of an issue and I decided to do whatever I could to protect my children. Having four children in four different grades, and not being a big fan of technology,I was apprehensive to say the least.. I have to say the only regret I have is that I did not start Agora sooner. Things are pretty much self explanantory but you do have to be open minded and organized. Sometimes there can be minor computer issues but tech support handles them well and teachers are very understanding when there are difficulties getting into class.The curriculum is challenging, but I believe they are getting a much better education now than at their previous school. Our family coaches and teachers have been so accessible and helpful. The decision to cyber school was hard for us because we didn't know anyone else who had done it but sending them to their former school or our own school district was not an option . The staff at Agora made the most difficult decision of our lives the best decision of our lives.

Agora is an excellent school and has helped us make great progress with our children! We where pushed out of old school district when we complained about violence and lack of education in the prior school.We actually got a postem from prior principal saying maybe cyber school. Agora cyber CS. is working out GREAT!!! for our daughter she is in 7th grade and doing very well a lot better than if she was attending our local school distirct. I am an Agora student. The 2012-2013 school year was my first year, and I hate it. Agora's teachers aren't that nice, the work is too hard, the teachers rarely explain thoroughly what we have to do, and they give out way too much work. I did much better in public school.

2012-13 was my son's first year in Agora. Coming from a school that stripped all but the core classes, it was a bit overwhelming to suddenly have so many classes. There is also a lot of testing, but in my opinion, if a teacher isn't sitting in front of your student every day, collecting classwork, how can they ensure your child is learning from the program? It seems perfectly logical to have a face to face assessment several times throughout the year. I am not a fan of PSSA's, but that's a statewide public school test, not Agora's fault. As for all the online assessments, classes, then you have to find time for your lessons... it can be frustrating. However, it IS worth it. Last year I spent every day from the moment my son got home from school, until bed time fighting about homework. NOW he has 3x as many classes and while we do sometimes work long hours, we have the flexibility to take a day, morning or afternoon off! I read reviews complaining of attendance issues, tech issues etc. In September we had some tech issues, Tech support was wonderful & when we were down, we used our time wisely, doing offline work. Attendance we had no problems at all. Just email the office!

AGORA'S TECH & ATTENDANCE DEPARTMENTS ARE LAME (pt. 2) 4. Their attendance office is a joke, but they're not funny. Our children have ONLY MISSED ONE DAY combined (older son a few years ago) when he had the swine flu. However this year we received a truancy notice, threatening to fine us and call Children and Youth, because we did not call with excuses. The letter also noted that our family coach had tried to reach us several times, unsuccessfully. She (FC) has acknowledged that this was incorrect (by the way, she is superb), and that Agora had made a mistake. Agora eventually found their mistake, but now they are telling us that our other child has been absent without an excuse 4x. They will most likely be losing us, not because of their teachers (who are wonderful), but because of these inept departments. A note to Agora's administration: 1. completely revamp your tech department and 2. Don't send letters to parents, threatening fines or C & Y involvement, without being ABSOLUTELY SURE that you're attendance department is CORRECT in their data collection! And even if a student has unexcused absences, you should first call the family before sending a threatening letter.

I have 2 children who have been with this program for several years. Every year it's gotten worse. This is mainly due to the amount of testing. They have four face-to-face tests every year, four required turn in's, 2 4 hour tests online, the PSSA's, and every day a 10 question test on what you learned. Plus: Every month they test in reading and math. It's gotten to the point where it's just excesive testing. It exhausts the kids and teachers. IT DOESN'T HELP! Nothing is important in education BUT the PSSA's scores. There is NO music, art, charecter building, or history. This is just sad. If you want to teach your kid one of these...go ahead but they will not assist you. If you have a high achiever student, they may benifit because the daily online classes will be optional for the "advanced learners". If not...then your kid is stuck doing classes for hours PLUS a daily plan of books, and online cirriculum. That doesn't nec. follow the online teaching. It's confusing for the students, and I don't think it leads for a well rounded students. We're looking at options to get out of this particular cyber charter school program. Good luck!

My child has attended Agora for 1st, 2nd and 3rd grade. Overall it is a great academic program and the teachers are very experienced. We supplement with some other group classes in sports and the arts to gain social interaction. The kids also socialize before class starts each day and at organized school outings every week or two. The program allows you to work ahead if your child is gifted in an area and provides focused specialists if your child needs help in math or reading. It is a lot of work for the parent to supervise a younger student but the overall result is very rewarding. In recent surveys, parents using the k-12 program have 90%+ positive feedback.

I have 3 children enrolled in Agora (1st, 3rd, 4th) this is our 2nd year with Agora and we love it. The curriculum is catered to their individual learning styles. The teachers and family coach are always available to answer any questions I may have. There was some technical difficulties the beginning of the year but all the problems were worked out. I plan on keeping my kids enrolled until highschool, because I do want them to have the high school experience. They play sports 4 times a week so I don't have to worry about them socializing with kids their age. Great school!

I can't say enough good about this school. My son was bullied in traditional school. He was an angry, unhappy child. After 1 year (although he's been in 3 now) EVERYONE would comment about how different he was. He is happy, learning, self confident and thriving. Went from C's and D's to straight A's with a HARDER work load. His family coach is awesome, as are all his teachers. I wish we would have found this school much earlier.

I am a student at Agora and this is my first year. I love it! I had a rough time at my regular public school. I thrive at agora and it is basically the same curriculum as my public school. The teacher are ALOT nicer and are more caring. I missed like 24 days in my public school. I have not missed one day yet at agora. I love going here. I'm a student and I've just enrolled this year and I believe when you don't have faith and devotion towards something, sometimes you may think a situation is terrible. The only reason you're going to feel like Agora's being a fuss is because honestly you don't really care about it-- you just want to take off your anger on something else. I had Earth Science and many other classes and I say it's very well organized for us to prepare and so far my grades haven't flunked even though I've taken 2-3 hours a day to work on every subject. When you do something you love you excel in it with passion. ^.^ The more negative and judgmental you become with something the more you waste time and you're not solving any problems you have. It's great that Agora avoids the central bullying and leads more to a healthier and flexible schedule.

I was with Agora since 2007.agora was a school that had some decent caring teachers,and a good curriculum.In the last two or three years I've watched this school dwindle.I've had an issue where I had to find a a school for my son because I called customer care because I wanted to return the computer ,cause I purchased one.Next thing my son is withdrawn from the school.I had a great family coach ,who tried to help but confused by how that occurred.So I either have to now start the enrollment process again or find a new school.Then the other issue Agora lies to parents I went to they first week of orientations and they specifically said Aims testing is face to face for k-2 only.I checked my k-mail an hour later they're introducing new regional testing for k-6.So more aggravation ,I have two kids left in there and I had thought we had passed the face to face Aims a while ago,now you have to do this three times a year.Also attendance has changed,if your child doesn't come to live sessions ,and even though you put attendance in ,its considered an absence .Beware

I have 3 children enrolled in Agora, and we love it. I started off with my first child in a public school, then we moved and I became a single mother moving into a poverty area and the school we would of had to go to was horrible, I tried schooling at home by myself but missed many gaps. After putting my son in agora he improved dramatically. Now its been 3 years, all my children are in with 2 years ahead of their normal grade averages. They are given the choice each summer if they want public school or back with agora and each year they have chosen agora. They are so proud of their accomplishments and I as a parent and so proud of them and of Agora, had it not been for agora my oldest son would of really struggled I believe for many years. I entered our son in Agora 2011-2012 school year. He thrived in this curriculum. The teacher support was phenominal. Always available for questions and support. My son was not flourishing in our local public school and we decided to try this and see how it would go. My son was picked on daily and had 2 hr school bus rides. When we made the switch together as a family, our son's grades jumped, his attitude towards learning changed, and he was able to focus without the distractions and frustrations of waiting on others in the classroom in certain subjects and being slower in other subjects than others. He is able to work at his own pace now while learning the fundamentals needed. He is no longer discouraged and angry with his performance but is excited and enjoys what he is learning. The time spent in public school was also a struggle for him. He is a self motivator and gets frustrated when he feels his time is wasted. He now has time to volunteer at our local retirement home once a week as well as his karate 3 days a week and 4H classes learning to care for animals and show them for fairs. What a great experience Agora has been for our family! Kudos!

This is my first year with agora and i cant wait to switch school for the 2012-2013 school year. The attendance office is trying to say ive missed 4 days this year when ive really only missed one and it was excused. Each day that i supposedly missed i have turned in assignments but according to agora i had "no user activity". My mom has to pay a fine for my absences the dont even exist . She is extremely mad about these absences because i show her my grade everytime i take a test and each day that ive "been absent" on was a friday, which are the days that i take tests on. The same thing was happening to my best friend before she left agora, so i know i cant be the only one this is happening to. I really do not recommend sending your child here.

I withdrew my child, a straight "A" student with Distinguished Honors from 1st - 6th grades, from the B&M school bec. it was lacking in academic structure and his teacher & the school Asst. Principals were all ineffective at doing their respective jobs. I called K12 and enrolled my child in Agora in 3rd qtr. It was the best decision I made. My child likes school again! He looks forward to his Live Sessions with his teacher, enjoys going on field trips (which he hadn't done since we moved to PA 2 yrs ago), was surprised to see the grade appropriate vocabulary words (he was previously learning 2nd grade level words in 6th grade), and has been doing really well in keeping up with his scheduled class/homework. The teacher is wonderful and always responds quickly to all my questions, the FLC has also been very helpful and informative. We haven't experienced any tech. issues thus far and I'm quite satisfied with the academic structure and process. My only concern is that my child seems to be breezing through the lessons. Not sure yet if this is a good sign or a concern. In the mean time, I tell him to slow down and spend more time before moving on to the next lesson. Recommended.

Big Problems with Agora!!!! My daughter keeps getting attendance notices for days she is not absent. This has happened 18 times this school year. It is really hard to get someone from the school to contact you, they correct days and 2 months later say she was absent on those days again. It is really difficult. We have been told to take a truancy elimination course 2 times now and when they corrected the absences they had already corrected once they reappeared. They are having some kind of serious technical issues. Is anyone else experiencing things like this in the 2011-2012 school year? My daughters friend had issues with her second quarter report card. She should have had all A's. Instead she got C's and D's. It took her family almost 3 weeks to get it corrected and have her As back.

I have just one problem with Agora.....COMMUNICATION. I have had a couple of issues with Agora within the last 2 years. I have had trouble with getting a response from the attendance office, teachers and administators. I have sent in papers and then been told they have not received them. I have had trouble communicating with teachers to let them know that my daughter does not do A+ for reading. I keep getting phone calls and k-mails saying that she did not complete it. I find it hard for teachers to assess my daughter if they don't know what they are assessing. You can not speak to anyone in the attendance office and they do not return k-mails or phone messages. Really thinking about a change of schools.

I have been at Agora sense September 2011 and i gotta say, This school is GREAT! The teachers are always nice, informative and sometimes VERY funny! The school is relativity simple to get around when it comes to finding classes/Live sessions. Excellent teachers do not make up for all the technical problems. After researching different cyber schools, we decided on Agora K12. I had a fantastic enrollment agent who worked with me. Only problem was there was a mandatory class I had to take for their records. When I drove to the location, I found out the class was for parents who hadn't decided on Agora. Since I was already enrolled, I didn't really need the class and had just wasted my time and money going out there. When we started Agora, we had fantastic teachers help up set up and try to learn the program. If they didn't know the answer, they would ask peers until the question was answered. Problem with Agora is that they don't have good technical support. We had problems with the laptop since the first day we got it. My husband eventually figured out there wasn't proper virus protection, and the laptop had never been properly set up! I don't know why it wasn't properly set up before they sent it to us, but that caused us to miss many days since we didn't have the proper equipment. Tech support ran a back up during busiest hours, rendering system unusable. So many tech problems we can't work. Ridiculous!

We love Agora! Maybe we just got really lucky, but our FTC is so awesome! He really bonded with my son and the rest of our family enjoys him as well. He's awesome at keeping us up to date with field trips (a.k.a. Agora Days Out) and will even schedule additional events throughout the week. My son's online teacher is also really great! She almost always gives the kids a few minutes before and after class to chat with each other. Any time I've needed to call her, she has always responded the same day. My son attended a high profile private academy before enrolling at Agora and the Agora curriculum, staff, and bonding experience with my son is MUCH preferred! We are relocating this month to South Carolina and are so sad to be leaving this system. But, we have decided to stick with the K12 program there because of the success we have had with Agora. Great courses and informative teachers! But don't be fooled, everyone says they will be available for questions in the beginning of the year. If you have a problem, contact them for help is what you're told. Well I've had one problem, they threaten me with law action even though I've been to school on the two days they say I wasn't. No one will work with me to fix it. The academic director, attendance office, pretty much everyone ignores my phone calls! Too bad a decent alternative to brick and mortar schools is overshadowed by poor quality administrative figures. I am a good student, 4.0 GPA for two years in a row, never missed a day, always submitting work on time, and never mouthing off. I get treated like a slimy thug when it comes to getting these WRONG "unlawful" absences removed though. Administrative figures ARE a joke! They NEVER call you back! It's been a week and 30 calls...

The problem with Agora is that it is at the mercy of K12, a for-proft business that shamelessly recruits disadvantaged and disengaged students and then expects them to master a very demanding and mostly asynchronous curriculum. It's a recipe for disaster. Agora targets Title-1 families: poor, badly educated and coming in without the necessary skills to succeed, especially in cyber school. Many of the kids had truancy issues, failed out of their last school or had disciplinary problems. So Agora and K12 snatch them up for the $$$. Once they get to Agora, they find that it's basically failproof. Administration has done away with fixed due dates and penalties for late work; students can retake open note tests unlimited times and work is excused left and right to get students to pass (with a 60% no less). This way they keep the kids and the money from the state, while dismal PSSA and standardized tests reveal the sad truth behind the reality of the hollow passing rates. Many parents never return calls from teachers, students don't bother reading emails, and teachers are made to call students multiple times a week and beg them to actually turn in work. It's a nightmare.

Agora's curriculum is top notch. This has been the best decision I could have made for my son. We have been with Agora for three years. It has given me the freedom to educate my child the way I see fit, yet gives me the support I need when necessary. If you are looking for someone to educate your child at home and are not willing to put any effort into it yourself, cyber school is not for you and your child. Cyber school is not easy, it takes more time and energy than B&M schools. Every school has it's issues but you must weigh that against the advantages your child is receiving. I have never had a computer issue and that is K12 not Agora. I have always received feedback or returned phonecalls the day I called.

I pulled my son out of Jim Thorpe Area High School and enrolled him in Agora this year. He has a 504 plan and the teachers are very accommodating. My son is thriving and getting A's and B's, where he was failing in the B&M. My son works independently and is very intelligent, which is why I think he is doing so well. He rarely talks with the teachers, but has contacted them maybe 12-15 times for one problem or another and they have always given him an immediate response. I have also "talked" with the guidance counselor on Messenger and it was not a problem. Enrollment was a nightmare, with them losing faxes, but after that, it was smooth sailing. I recommend them for high school.

The good thing about Agora is that they use K12 materials. The bad thing is that the administration is unresponsive to any kind of problem. They seem to bury their heads in the sand and not care that they have dissatisfied parents. The teachers we have this year are all new. They don't know answers to our questions, or give us the wrong ones. Many questions have not been answered. Just ignored. We had a lot of trouble getting assigned to the correct classes. My child is still not in the correct language class, so now we're a year behind in language. The workbooks all arrived safely, but we did not use their computer equipment; not sure if we ever received it. We've never received a printer or ink, didn't know we were entitled to it. In summary, we don't plan to continue with Agora. I would be careful registering my child in this school. You can find K12 materials elsewhere.

So far I regret taking my son out of the B & M school he was in, I've had nothing but problems with Agora since Day 2 of speaking with an enrollment specialist, from not receiving or misplacing faxed paper work to three weeks into the start of school and still no computer or printer! Nobody is on the same page at Agora it's just a disabling feeling as it seems every conversation with a rep ends with a ticket number that leads to nowhere.

I truly regret registering my child with Agora. From the beginning, we have had issues with the school losing our registration information, not sending out supplies when needed and basically ignoring any issues we have. We have been waiting two months for printer ink. The keys on my daughter's laptop started coming off, we're still waiting for the laptop to be replaced. We moved and the school can't seem to keep track of this information, they've shipped both the ink and the laptop to your old address. It's been nothing but a nightmare for us. We can't get anybody in administration to return a phone call nor can we actually find out who the superintendent or principal of the school are. Why? Because they consider themselves a company and not a school. This whole experience has been awful. We are in the process of finding another school as we are fed up with Agora.
