The amount of homework depends on the grade. My child gets enough so that I can stay informed on what they are learning but not so much that we can't get it done before softball and swimming and other activities.

These teachers work harder than any other ones we have ever had with my older children that did not go to Propel. They do their best to keep us informed on what they are learning and how we can help our child learn.

They started new EPIC houses this year that stand for Effort, Prepared, Integrity, and Compassion and have super hero characters that go along with each one to help students understand what the characteristics mean.

My kids are getting a great education at Propel Montour. The teachers and staff are caring and dedicated to the students. Whenever I have had an issue it has been resolved quickly and to my satisfaction.

Propel Montour has been a great inspiration to my son and our family. Their commitment to education, respect, responsibility and safety is top notch!! My son LOVES attending this school and our family is truly blessed to have him there!!

My children enjoy going to school at Propel Montour. They look forward to the "cool" things they are learning and if they don't understand something, they know they can talk to their teachers and get assistance if needed. I have enjoyed attending the Parent Academy events in the past -- Parents learning what their children are learning and most importantly, HOW they are being taught... reinforcement of what is being learned in the class, at home. No tears or frustration - it puts everyone on the same page.

I feel the the teachers are VERY EFFECTIVE at this school. It has been my experience with all of my children that their teachers have taken time with each of them to help them learn and grow and be come the best person they can be. In my experience, the teachers my children have had - go above and beyond. They take the time to ensure my children are actually learning -- life skills and school work. We are VERY HAPPY with the education our children are getting -- it is a CHOICE to send our children to this school. It is our choice and we are Propel Proud!

They do a lot of fundraisers to teach kids about helping others. Like Wounded Warriors, The Children's Hospital, and the Humane Society.

Just this year I was talking with the principal about a student bothering my relative. Next thing I know the student no longer attends the school. Maybe it was a coincident, but it's been better since for sure!

The only thing I am grateful for is that our children no longer go to this school. Isn't it funny how all the negative comments are from former students or parents. Why aren't the positive comments showing who sent these in. Were these sent in by Propels Administration or teachers. This is an awful school, children are bulled everyday and nothing is done about it. The children still there are mostly ones that other schools don't want. If you're children are not in this school count your blessings. Not only are the children behind other schools academically, they suffer from daily bullying.

I feel like the only thing this school cares about is how well the kids do on standardized tests. They want to look good to the state so they spend all their time making sure these kids do well on the PSSA's but don't really care if the child has F's in their classes. As a former student I can say that there isn't a lot of discipline when a child misbehaves and it effects the kids who actually want to get an education.

This school has become nothing but trash the past few years. Go to you tube and search Propel Montour Hip Hop on Lock- we just teens. Just the title shows what they focus on, "so called arts" when they can't even use correct grammar .Watch the entire video and listen to the words and decide whether you want you child to act like this. Enough said. This is a dangerous school that needs to wake up and look into the MAJOR safety issues and psychological health of the students they accept.

Sending My Children to this place they call a School was by far the WORST thing I have ever done to my Children. My Children were constantly mistreated by staff from being forced to walk barefooted the WHOLE SCHOOL DAY, refused an alternative lunch, constant out of school suspensions, constant degrading comments by staff forcing my child who has never been in a Mental Hospital to be hospitalized twice in a school year, as well as witch hunts on Parents who don't participate in some of their activities like petition signings (for a new school) and rally.

This school is such a melting pot with students coming from many different districts in the Pgh area. It is outperforming the majority of the schools that its students should otherwise be attending, and the school's approach to positive reinforcement is great. Yes, I have heard about incidents from time to time, but all schools have incidents. The administration handles everything quickly.

Each year this school gets worse. As said in other reviews, more and more of the good families have left because of the severe bullying problems there. Children who start out as bullies in kindergarten and continue into their middle school years with more and more violence. When your child is a victim of these bullies, they are told to see a psychiatrist for their self esteem issues. Meanwhile, the bullies go to the guidance counselor to get cookies. Children are suspended and even expelled multiple times per year. There are children who have left after physically assaulting teachers and kids however, when some of the good kids leave because they can't take being in a school of delinquents anymore, these problem children are welcomed back with open arms to keep the numbers up. They spend so much time and money drilling into the kids heads they have to score well on the PSSA's, bribing them with parties, t shirts, candy, pizza, ice cream, all to keep funding. They should quit accepting and catering to the bullies. If they could retain good kids, they would have much higher scores naturally. No wonder districts fight not to have them open a school near them. Horrible and unsafe.

Before you send your child to this school, before taking the advice from the recent reviews, go to the Kennedy Township police department and ask their opinion- you will be told to RUN from this school for your child's well being. Excellent teachers but absolutely WORTHLESS administration and guidance counselors. I only give this school one star because I could not give it less. Pathetic waste of taxpayers money.

This school has gone down hill so badly over the past several years. All of the middle school staff have quit because of the violence of the students and the administration powerless to control them. Not only are good students leaving, they can't even keep teachers. For the safety of your child, DO NOT SEND THEM HERE. Children are assaulted in the bathroom, and in front of surveillance cameras in the hallways. The police are sometimes notified but not the parents of the victims. When students are pulled out and placed in another school, they are so far behind academically. Do Not GO THIS ROUTE. It will only cost your child in the long run through sleepless nights when they are afraid to go to school. It will cost you as a parent time and aggravation when you go to a CEO who couldn't care less about the students, just about the numbers.

The the only thing I like about Propel is we don't get as much homework as my friends in other schools. I hate the longer school days and longer school year. The teachers are not helpful and their dirty school has roaches.

Overall I would say my experience at Propel-Montour (340 Bilmar Dr.) was "ok" or "average". I'd give it like a B or a C. Here's why: I attended Propel Montour for 6th grade (2009-2010). I'm going to be completely honest, but please don't get me wrong. Propel is not a bad school, the kids were really bad. Please also note that the littler kids do not have these kinds of problems. Propel is their first school so they don't know any different. From my experience the kids were really not well behaved and the staff did NOT know how to handle the discipline. The kids would talk back to the teachers, talk non-stop, and were "bad". I was also touched inappropriately on TWO different occassions by two different GIRLS (I am also a girl) I am NOT gay or lesbian or anything like that, they did it out of the blue or whatever because they thought it was funny. Propel did have it's good moments, such as their Celebrations of Learning, and I got to work with the CLO, etc. But overall it was a not-so-great experience for myself. Again Propel is NOT a bad school, it's the kids there. The little kids do NOT have these problems.
