Not if your student has any sort or of disability including ADHD.

Why would leadership be effective if only privileged students do well?

You will be told that your child with disabilities should be treated like all other students.

Westerly Rhode Island is one of the wealthiest towns in Rhode Island.
It is indeed both frustrating and sad that we have one of the worst school systems in Rhode Island. This middle school demonstrates such a disdain for students with learning disabilities that they will leave you wondering if you should homeschool, move to a different district or just pay up for the private school.

The students with disabilities are ignored and the resource teachers do not help anything.

The teachers are not effective if your child has an I.E.P.

Bullying is such a major problem in working to find effective ways to curb/end it. I do believe that students are encourage to "see something, say something." The Resource Officer assigned to the school, the behavior specialists and the Disciplinary Teacher work to resolve challenging situations that occur and parent communication is immediate.

Our middle school experience began two years ago and we couldn't be happier. My children acclimated to this school quickly and positively. They have been on teams with teachers who have gone above and beyond to ensure that my children understand the subject matter, maintain positive relationships with classmates, and are happy during the school day. They are always available to speak with me should a concern arise. There is a great variety of course offerings for my children to maintain their interests. Skyward is available for me to keep a close eye on my children's work assignments and progress.

Teachers are more than willing to stay after school to support students who may be experiencing difficulty with homework. Several websites also provided to assist at homework.

Always available to communicate with parents either via phone, email, or conference. Appear to be very concerned with my children's progress and understanding of curriculum. Provide syllabus at onset of school year and necessary student materials in order to encourage and support student organization. Also have agenda books to document homework and projects on a daily basis.

The school works diligently to support strong character in its student population. Now have instituted Flex classes, focusing on various topics of interest to students, one of the being Kindness Club. Students also are integrated by teams into these groups and also into specials, which helps them to become familiar with entire student body, not just the members of specific teams.

Administration readily available to assist. Have many opportunities to become involved in the school- SIT, PTO, etc. Administration supports programs for parents to stay informed regarding education, social concerns, etc. Administration is always visible for students and knows students by name and welcomes them as they enter school each morning. Behavioral concerns are addressed immediately and communication is excellent.

My child has been assigned a 504 to support him with organizational skills. Teachers all received accommodations page and are working with my child on addressing his needs.

The updates to the school are great. The teachers are really friendly and seemed to be involved with the kids.
