St Philomena School

We are on our fourth child attending St. Philomena. The older ones have all gone on to high school very well prepared. The curriculum is rigorous, and the school works to create a community feel for the children and never loses sight of its Catholic character. I'm sorry to read that other families have not shared our experience, but having watched our children go through school, and with one of us being a teacher, we've seen first-hand how the other students in a particular class or grade level at a school can make a big difference in other students' experience.

We've found St. Philomena to be an excellent balance of individualized attention and sufficient enrollment, easily supporting two classes per grade, but with room to spare.

This school is horrible, as a previous student looking back it was horrible. I went there for around 6 years & there was bullying & constant drama that the teachers did literally nothing to solve & just enjoyed the show of kids being bullied. The guidance counselor made problems 10x worse along with the teachers. The education was good and has helped in high school but besides that the school has nothing else good to it.

Excellent school with strong values, wonderful teachers who care about the students and a safe environment. Our child had been here for 3 years and is flourishing with a group of wonderful children. Highly recommended!

Please look at reviews. Most were submitted on the same day. This is not a 5 star school. We have been here three years. It is the worst school my children have ever attended. Classes are to large and teachers can't control the students. Bullying is rampant. We went to the useless guidance counselor and she brought the bully in to confront my child. teachers see bullying or mistreatment happen and don't address it. The kids are out of control. I have never had my children go to a school and while on a field trip,tehy are told, they are not welcome back. After three years of hoping it would get better, we are leaving. We should have left last year when we toured Pennfield and our child was accepted. Avoid St. Phil's. Academics are ok, but I will say, these people don't know how to handle Eddie Haskell's. It is really to a good environment and now that Cluny closed...all those problem kids are there too. My favorite "experience"...after months of going to the guidance counselor, who my child thought would help, my child realized...she can't trust anyone there. After talking to the teachers and the counselor ourselves, we were basically blown off and told the other child's parent had sent in her info. This other child is so horrid, she has been kicked off sports teams, etc. Our child has a great record with people. These teachers put our child in the same working group in class over and over. Why would you do that? If your idea of academics is lazy teachers, who constantly assign group projects...even during school breaks, this is your place.
