I am so happy that both of my kids went to KHA. My oldest graduated a couple of years ago and my youngest is still there. My oldest was so prepared for middle school! He was challenged at KHA and is now doing well in honors classes in middle school. My youngest has an IEP and is thriving with the teacher's guidance and support. The teachers deeply care about the students. My kids always feel supported and respected. My oldest still returns years later for afterschool events and the amazing Harry Potter summer camp run there each summer. I couldn't have asked for a better start to their schooling!

Although had good experience the first couple of years, things took drastic turn where my child experienced bullying and classroom environment issues not addressed. Teacher, principal/asst principal, and board did not address issue. Ended up leaning school. Also, realized reading program is behind other schools…leveled reading and not phonics based. 2019 RI Right to Read Act requires phonics based. Teachers currently being trained but took a reading specialist to assess my child lacked exposure and after a few months of tutoring is up to speed. However, school wanted my child tested for special education instead of addressing inadequacies with school. Not surprised principal is leaving…dictatorship with no oversight. Advice: ask how child is doing after assessed for reading, STAR assessments, at beginning of year. Don’t wait because you may be surprised down the road. Some great teachers but they are taken for granted and bad ones are protected with no accountability.

School is not supportive of students with any 504 or IEP (special needs/ed) plans. School was under a federal civil rights settlement that they don't disclose. Although it's a public school, the board is basically self-appointed and thus is an insider club (one of the board member is a spouse of a teacher) so governance and oversight is weak. Good school if your child is white (there are no educators of color nor emphasis on diversity) and doesn't need any extra services.

After attending KHA, children are far beyond the public schools in the area and some of the private schools. There is no way I would consider sending my children anywhere else. The only drawback is that it's kind of in the middle of nowhere, but we bus with another Charter school and that accommodates a pretty wide area.

Homework is required as children progress get older, but is always manageable.

The teachers are very compassionate and committed. I've never had a problem I felt wasn't handled at the teacher level. What they managed with COVID was amazing. I never felt alone as a parent.

The core values center around kindness, safety, respect, and responsibility. Those are age-appropriate values that carry through their whole lives. The school does a wonderful job keeping those values ever-present both on a daily basis on throughout the year.

The current principal is amazing. She's a wonderful person and very approachable for both kids and parents. We've been renovating the school and she's on top of it every step of the way. Even with COVID, she found ways to keep in touch.

I've had personal experiences with this and it was handled swiftly and with very little incident. When they say no-tolerance policy, they mean it.

school is great if you fit their mold; but the special ed services are weak and they would rather force you out or send you back to your home district.

This school has been amazing for our children. We have had many positive experiences with teachers, staff and the activities that the school provides.

The school social worker leads many social emotional learning activities adopted school-wide.

5 stars just like their RI Dept. of Ed rating!

The school works with families if they reach out to assist with homework practices at home to ensure it's an effective component to my child's education and not merely busy work.

The teachers are extremely dedicated and even call me outside of school hours if needed.

We all love KHA; I have nothing but good feelings about Kingston Hill Academy. We are very happy we found such a good school for our son. We have recommended the school several times to family and friends. We have no bad experiences; only good things to say. We do wish they went up to grade 8.

My daughter attended here 4 years ago. The school was awesome, helping her excel; thus, she could skip 2 grades, and are still among top students at a good high school in CT. We all love this school. Both staff and teachers are very friendly!

For the past 3 years the school as gone down hill. They were a commended school now they are not. Many news paper articles questioning practice, ethics, and special education services. Neighboring districts unhappy with lack of transparency. i complained several times about my child being put on the computer while the k-2 special Ed teacher makes personal calls and works on her computer! When I try to talk to the principal about this she is condescending and rude . I miss Mr Pantikof!

The teachers and staff at this school are just wonderful. You walk in and they are happy with smiles on their faces. My son is learning so much in just the 3 weeks he has been there. I am so proud to call Kingston Hill Academy his elementary school.

Lots of great teachers at the school, but a second grade teacher once referred to my child as "colored." Her occassional bad grammar I can look past, but not that.
