I had 2 children go through Meadowbrook, one who needed support - which he received without issue. We loved Meadowbrook and the faculty and the energy in the school.

So much bullying amongst the parents and adults which flows down to the kids.

Ok. It was much better about six years ago. The principal plays favorites big-time with both students and parents. If you are not a favorite parent your time there will be poor of not downright misrable. I volunteered to be a homeroom mom four years in a row and was never selected. Only the favorite moms get to be homeroom mom. The pick up process is weird at best. You stand around with a bunch of parents that mostly don't talk..... so you just stand there. Not a fun place to be.

I have three children attending Meadowbrook now and another who will attend in a few years. We moved to the neighborhood specifically for the school and have not been let down. Mr Marcaccio is an excellent leader who really "gets" what the parents and students need. He is responsive, understanding, and completely open to new and innovative ways of thinking. Melissa, as another poster mentioned, is phenomenal and truly the gem of MFE. From Speech terapy, to Kindergartenm 1st grade and 2nd, the staff is incredible. We couldn't be happier with the staff and what they do with the resources at their fingertips. Of course, there are areas for improvement, none of which I see particularly as the schools fault but more of the resources they lack themselves. One- Technology can be improved with more one:one instruction on computer based modules. Two- Multiple full Day K classrooms as opposed to primarily half day- Not a school specific policy but one we need to see across the board. But that's it. I'm proud to be a parent of children at Meadowbrook.

I've had multiple children in Meadowbrook, and have been mostly happy. Teachers are warm and caring. I've found it just challenging enough for a not-gifted child, and a little lacking for a gifted child - overall, solid but not amazing. Melissa in the front office is wonderful. She knows every child that walks through that door. She's worth 3 stars by herself! The facility is decent and not overcrowded. One glaring problem is the lack of full-day Kindergarten. This is district-wide and not a strictly Meadowbrook issue, but it is the biggest reason it's not 5 stars The district is studying the "feasibility" of full-day K, but it wouldn't actually be implemented until 2015 at earliest. They are really unacceptably behind the times on this, and parents have been clamoring for it for years. That it takes *so long* for them to implement something everyone agrees is best for the children is madness. Many less well-funded districts in RI have managed to get on the ball with full-day K, while wealthy EG sits on its thumbs. This unfortunately speaks to a level of inertia that has me a little concerned about Meadowbrook's quality. But day-to-day, my children are happy and learning okay.
