We pulled our children from this school. We moved to fort mill for the schools and there is a serious problem at this school. The children are not learning and it was clear when I compared to children at other schools. I believe there was busing into this school and no support for the children that needed extra help. Teaching to the lowest common denominator.

We just moved to Fort Mill, SC from Matthews, NC so, this is my child's first year here. So far he loves the school and his teacher. One thing I didn't like was how the curriculum night was set up. Apparently, this year it was different from previous years. I was hoping to get to speak to his teacher about what they are doing in class, how they will be tested, etc. but, instead, they sent us on a actual scavenger hunt where we had to find clues that would lead us to the next classroom. I wasn't fond of that all. Today, I will attend my first PTO meeting so, we will see how that goes.

My son came in from a different school district having reading issues. The teachers figured out his issues and have assisted in having him not only catch up but love to learn to read.

This has, by far, been the WORST experience we've had with a school, and we've come from a pretty rough school system. The teachers are ineffective, my child is learning things in fifth grade they learned in THIRD GRADE, there is a general and abhorrent lack of communication between faculty and parents (unless you count weekly "newsletters", which I don't), and the general attitude here is atrocious. Just counting the days until we can get our child OUT of this school and into a better one.

FMES is an awesome school with awesome teachers who genuinely care about your child. We've had a great experience here!

This school is horrid she it comes to communication!! They lack any empathy what so ever! The front office, teachers and volunteers are snobby and rude. The PTO is more a click then an non profit organization. The traffics line is not marked out well and you are have people who ignore the normal traffic protocol as they drive around and park in front of you. You are also struggling with the middle school drop off. They do NOT do security checks on their volunteers. They don't want to pay the $40 (quoted as said to me) per pop. Only will run background checks if they have been approved to go on field trips? There is no formal means of communication, you get text one time, email the next or even told to visit the teachers website if you want more information. You are constantly doing fund raisers. The most of the teachers have been teacher for over 25+ years, they have done the same thing for so long they have become jaded on how to treat children and how to communicate with the parents. They expect you to know what they want because they can do it with out thinking. It's very frustrating to have a child who loves structure and constant communication and to not have it. If you are looking for a residence in this school area stay away!!! Fort mill schools district has lots better schools then this one. Do you research, ask to shadow for a day. You will be very disappointed if you dont

We've had only good experiences with FMES and have been here 2 1/2 years. I currently have 2 children there. To address the exiting into traffic issue, there is a policeman there directing traffic every day in the morning, is he not also there in the afternoon (my kids get a ride to school, but bus home)? Mostly, I love the school for the wonderful teachers. We've had 5 out of 7 be outstanding, and the other 2 well above average. This year there is a new principal. So far she seems excited to be here and very organized.

This is my child's first year at this school and this school district. So far we feel it's on OK school, nothing exceptional. My child is very happy with his teacher, who seems to be an exceptional person, we'll see how the teaching goes. We were disappointed to find out that there are no clubs or extracurriculars for the students except safety patrol. Science Olympiad was popular at our former school district, I would think a district that prides itself on academics would offer that. The school and district are also behind technologically. No wifi at school, and there is no teaching program that integrates the kids devices (ipods. kindles. etc) into the curriculum. Again, something we had before and miss. Not all of the teachers have websites. Apparently it's a "if you feel like it" approach. So it can be challenging to stay connected with your child's assignments and teachers. No textbooks or workbooks can be accessed on line. Fort Mill schools seem to be resting on their reputation as "the best", but not leading the way, or even staying current in educational trends.

While this school is ranked well above many schools...I feel there is a safety issue upon leaving the school. You exit into traffic and if you are a front car to pick up you can not see to turn and I watch people almost getting hit daily.....after complaining and asking why a school resource officer wasn't directing traffic, nothing changed...called back and was told I didn't have kids in the school...uhmmm first I have step kids in the school and second a citizen can complain about you exit!!!!! I was treated with an attitude from the principle. We will be moving out of this school district.. Hope this reaches someone and help me in the fight to save an accodent
