Four children attended and two have graduated college and are working professionals and two are excelling in college now because of their hilton head island high school educators, teachers, and coaches encouraging them to be good citizens and make a difference positively.

This school has a great group of parent volunteers and community support. Students are held to high expectations and have proven success in their academics and athletics.

Graduated from Hilton Head Island High School in 2014. this school was/still is extremely over-populated. There weren't enough desks in almost every class I took for both my junior and senior year here. The students were fine, and most of the teachers were decent. Easy classes. Uniforms were ridiculously strict, also. The principal and other staff were overly controlling over the most unnecessary things, but they never focused on real issues that actually mattered. Over 30 students were in most of my classes during my senior year. they should either open another public school on the other side of the island, or make the classrooms themselves larger. walking in the halls gave me full on anxiety because they only gave us 2 & a half minutes in-between classes, while people are stepping on you due to the hallways being so narrow, crowded, and small. The classes were 2 hours long each and the teachers didn't give you anything to do for the last 45 minutes. The school campus is a maze. it was also extremely difficult to navigate through the school and find your classes. overall, the school is a mess, but unfortunately, there aren't many other options in hilton head. good luck

Both of my children attended HHHS - my son graduated and is in college and my daughter is a an upcoming senior. I think Amanda O'Nan is a very involved and caring principal. There is a lot to deal with as an educator these days and I feel that with proper guidance and parental involvement your child will get a good education and get out of it what they put into it.

Iam a grandparent in Florida, my grandaugther will be attending HHH . Even though the reviews or old the website seems to be outdated also, I will be paying close attention this year, maybe someone can send in some up to date reviews. Thanks grandma in fla.

This school is a well-balanced school between lower classmen and upperclassmen. If you are a freshmen then you'll be placed into the 9th grade academy. It's basically just you and your whole grade having classes in the same hall, if not, one or two classes in the other hallways upperclassmen share. As a freshmen you also get a different block schedule and you have lunch with your whole grade and a couple of upperclassmen. However you'll definitely have upperclassmen in you're 4th block just because your schedule will collide with theirs. Overall HHI is a party school but the students keep it at a decent level and have academic levels pretty high! Bird gang till I die! GO SEAHAWKS!!

Great school. The IB Program is wonderful, and the staff is fantastic, and the leadership is very strong. A safe and healthy environment for students, lots of support.

I graduated from this school in 2008 with an IB Diploma. Contrary to some beliefs, I am not from a family with money, as was evidenced by our struggle to pay the mortgage every month back then. If you want to succeed in high school you can do it here. Contrary to some "tracking" beliefs, it really is up to the individual. I just recently graduated from George Washington University and even though I have a lot of debt, I can't regret my education for a minute. The IB program in conjunction with the arts programs offered at HHIH opened the door to my education and current success.

I am not a fan of HHHS. From what I saw, this school implies a tracking system which allowed for lower performing students to fall through the cracks. I have seen the kinds of students who prosper after graduation, they are the ones with money, the ones that were pushed into AP and IB courses in high school and whose parents had pull. On the other spectrum, the lower performing students are now at low end jobs, single parents, and going no where. I unfortunately never met a teacher who genuinely seemed interested in their students actually succeeding or pushed or motivated me in any sort of way. I am now luckily at a top college in the state, but that is in no way thanks to Hilton Head High. Go to Prep if you have the chance, everyone succeeds, not just a lucky few like HHHS.

The school is great. It is well run, the students are in uniform and the halls are quiet and orderly. The IB program is wonderful. It is very vigorous and really prepares students for college. The teachers are top rate. There are also many AP courses available. Generally we have been very satisfied with the caliber of learning that is expected and the range of classes offered.
