This School is not a school I would recommend because a 3rd grader was sent death threats by a 7th grader, the special ed students are treated like objects, and the other students are badly treated, like one kid's grades were shown to the entire class.

This school sucks, my child goes to this school and I HIGHLY don’t recommend going to it. The principal and pretty much all the teachers are biased with students. Especially with the black and autistic kids. I’m not saying that these kids are bad or shouldn’t be right, but sometimes they aren’t right. In our ELA class, my children don’t even learn anything besides “argumentative writing,” and has been for the last 3 years.”

I have lots of bad experiences, but the worst I’ve heard about this school was another person’s experience. She was bullied, threatened by male students in which the principal made up an excuse to ignore the situation, tried to take her own life, but thankfully did not succeed.

The teachers at this school support bullying. Even they themselves bully the students. My 10 year old brother was bullied here by a teacher. There was another teacher that was present for the entire interaction and did nothing but be a bystander. I've brought it up to the school's attention and all they did was "talk" to her without any disciplinary action. They don't even hold their own teacher's accountable for encouraging bullying in the classroom.

More negative experiences than positive; educators for the most part are good and hard working but the administrator cares more about projecting an image than applying a tangible and effective measures to ensure good opportunities for education to students.

My child is excelling at this school. The staff has worked with my student for 3 years (5th-8th). She struggled with math and now excels in advanced math. She has learned so much and has been in the best environment. We are very happy to have her here.

One of my most concerning topics at this school. The principal does a good job of handling school events, and other areas within the school. She apparently has no control over some of the teachers, and her discipline is non-existent. Some of the teachers have been reported by families that I know, and they never hear anything else about it. All they are told is "it was looked into" or "it was being investigated". There is no consistency with her punishments. Students will get in fights and will be back at school the next day. There is nothing done except for continuous threats of what could happen to the student if they do it again. Lip service. I have a friend whose child was jumped by multiple kids, and the kids were back in school the next day. The No Bully concept is non-existent in this school. They celebrate it, but that is where it ends. Actions speak louder than words.

This school is by far the worst with dealing with bullying than any school I have ever been at. My child has been to other schools and this one is the WORST with dealing with bullies. The parents of these bullies are even worse than the kids, so I can show a bit of compassion for the teachers and principal for having to deal with those individuals. Some of the teachers play favorites, and if the lovable little bully is a favorite of the principal and teacher, they will show compassion for them. Discipline is not handled the same for each student.

If you can afford the time and money to drive your child to another school in this area, do it. You can because you have "school of choice". Most of the parents at this school can't afford the time and money to take their kids to other schools. Also, most of the schools in this area have extremely poor ratings. The charter schools are pretty good, but you have to win a lottery. If I had the time and money for gas to put my child in one of the charter schools, I would. The best thing I can say about Bolden is that it is better than many of the other schools in the area. Basically, picking the lesser of two horrible choices. What makes it tolerable is that there are some good teachers that really care about the students. You would expect more from a Department of Defense school, and your students are military children.

It is hit and miss. There are some teachers who are effective, and others are not. Homework is up to the teacher. Some teachers give a lot of homework, others give none. My child was given a good bit of homework last year, and did not even get a grade for it, but would get in trouble if it wasn't done. So, no reward for completing it, but punished for what wasn't completed. Other kids in the class never did their homework, but still would be on the A/B honor roll. No one fails in this school. Because they have to answer to district if they fail a student, and explain why.

They are all effective. Some are effective and improving the education and character of the student. Others are very effective at doing nothing but getting a paycheck.

The kids have integrity, compassion, and respect, or they don't. Teachers will enforce it, but this is (and should be) taught at the home, or it isn't. Some of the kids in this school wouldn't know respect or integrity if it landed on their heads. All you have to do it wait until the first family night, and then you see why.

It’s illegal for teachers to harass parents of children with disabilities about whether or not they are taking their medications. Teachers here call parents to harass them about their medications. Behavioral disorders are not always treated with medication and teachers requesting parents to make their children take medications stating they can’t handle the child otherwise is illegal and discriminatory. I really hope you can use this situation as a learning platform for all of your educators and make sure this doesn’t happen again for the sake of your students!!

Where do I begin? Well first, let me just say that before I came to Bolden I was at a public school in another state. I remember when I was at Bolden (I was there for three years) I was in complete shock at how uncivilized the other students were. They were obnoxious, loud, foul-mouthed, rude, uneducated about the 'real world', and NONE of the staff did ANYTHING about it. I even remember how there was one kid who verbally abused me, so I went to tell the guidance counselor and they had an unhelpful response, telling me to basically find out how to fix my 'problems' on my own because I was essentially just a lost cause. After going into highschool, I finally realized how much of a negative impact that school had on me. I always continue to feel uneasy around anyone - even my own parents. My social skills have downgraded to point where I can no longer have a conversation without feeling awkward. I bet this was because of how untrustworthy and rude these students were; I never found any close friend. I am glad to be back in a public school now, never again am I going anywhere near a military base school. Save yourself while you still can, it's not even a good educational school.

Run, run very fast away from this school. My child has been bullied by a child who is supposed to have ADHD and they do nothing about it. He has pushed her and has threatend to choke her and she goes to the office to report it and they tell her she needs to handle things differently when she responds to him. They let this child get away with anything he wants to and the consequences don't phase him. He disrupts class and screams and yells and the teacher let him get away with it. They basically made my daughter feel like everything is her fault. when she complains. Since they do not want to handle this I had to file a police report because he will not stop the threats and the pushing. I have called the district at Fort Stewart twice to complain about the bullying. Finally an investigation is going on now because nothing was done to protect my daughter. I don't think the teachers want to deal with him or they are afraid of his breaking his rights as a child with a 504 plan or with some time of behavior disability. My daughter has her rights also, and that is her right to go to school in a safe environment,

You know when I was student of this school, I hated it there. Why, well it just sucked. The school was not really what I ever wanted in a school for the most part. Being the first generation when they turned it to a Middle/Elementary was the worst. The teachers you could obviously tell did not teach for the love of it but just to have money. I had a very sexist math teacher and all I can say is at all costs avoid this and go to a public school. The lot of kids you go to school with are all trying to fit in and really it is not a great environment since you do not have much of a chance to meet other people outside of the military life. In a sense you are not prepared to for people in general. With that being said them adding a middle school was the worst because by the time you hit High School you are basically screwed. It just takes away from the pre-experience that everyone should really experience. Also a real middle school will give more opportunities for you, although unless you stay living in that state for middle school through high school then it is all fine but on other terms just avoid it. Well that is my review, it was not all horrible but it was just alright.

small, DOD school. WE live about 25 min away so our kids are bussed from the base we live on. Good School...beats out in town anyday!
