Like many others we moved to Fort Mill for the schools. So far our middle and High School experiences are first rate.

Sugar Creek was mediocre at best. It is the school equivalent of tepid bath water. Teachers Communication is adaquatr but not warm. The principal seems to like yes ma am teachers and as a result teachers never try any innovative or exciting.

I am hoping with a new principal next year there will be some changes.

I would definitely recommend this school, my son is in kindergarten, Amazing teachers Ms Wekall and Mrs Ellis. if I ask an update of my son. They patiently listen to all my questions and answers them clearly. My son loves his teachers, if he is sick and when we take a break for school he misses his teachers and classmates so badly.

We transitioned from private Christian school after moving to Fort Mill. We were a little concerned, but this school has exceeded our expectations. The teachers and staff are constantly focused on the well-being and integrity of the students. Our kids have had fantastic teachers that have constantly been in touch with us during pandemic related issues, as well as any feedback regarding our children inside and outside of the classroom. This 6/10 rating is VERY misleading, but I understand the grading scale has it's own set way of figuring things out. Our kids have made Honor Roll and/or A/B Honor Roll, and feel encouraged by their teachers. I can't speak enough positivity about this school!

6 out of 10 is not true reflection of this school. Technology, math teacher other subject too.. I think it was great for us . In my opinion principal listen to kids and parent as well and take right action .. I have very special Regards for math teacher they recognized my kids math progress and helped him to grow more since he had ability to grow. In nutshell I would rate this Scholl like 8-9 out of 10.

Ever issue will be blamed on the child. Issues are hidden until escalated then possible retaliation or missing paperwork in records requests.

3/10 Administration at this school twists the rules and policies to suit their, not the students, needs. If you have a special needs child choose another school such as Riverview.

Does not have a bullying policy and a certain someones child was one of the biggest bullies at the school until he finally left and moved on to middle school. He never got in any trouble because of who his mother was. He also wasn't zoned to go to this school, but because his mother worked there, he was allowed in.

Constant turnover. The good teachers leave because they cannot stand to work under the current principal who highly incompetent.

From what I hear this was once a great neighborhood school when it was under different leadership, but it is now the worst performing school in the district. The principal has single handedly run this school into the ground and no one at the district level seems to care. This school has a high minority population, so it makes one wonder if that is why no one at the district level seems to care enough to get good leadership in place and fire the current principal. All the primarily caucasion dominant schools in the district do so much better. There is a huge academic gap here that no one is paying attention to.

Our son requires additional help and resources and the principal's always been willing to guide us with who we need to go. As parents, we need to advocate for our kids but also work in partnership with the school. I've seen many parents take a hostile attitude towards the school administration without even giving them the opportunity to get what needs to get done. They have budget limitations and guidelines that they need to work within and parents need to be understanding of that. I've never had an issue working in partnership with our son's teachers.

There are some issues with bullying and the school has done an OK job with managing it. They have a program to promote "No place for hate", but there are kids that come with issues and baggage that the school can do better at managing.

We've had a great experience thus far as we enter 4th grade. As the parent of a child with special needs for emotional and academic support, I've found the teachers and staff to be willing to work with us to find the best way to support our son.

The school has gotten better at giving less homework. They've realized that homework given as busy work will not improve outcomes. Teachers still inform students when they have tests to study for, but aren't given a pile of worksheets to do at home.

Differentiated instruction is NON-EXISTENT here. My kid entered this school 4 grade levels above in math and 3 grade levels above in reading. Every time I ask for work to be differentiated to help my child, the teacher's EXACT words were "we teach the specific grade curriculum and nothing higher." I guess if it's not broken, don't fix it. I'm sure the diversity and amount of ESL kids in this school prevent the ability to differentiate. That's why this is one of the poorest rated schools in all of Fort Mill. Above level kids are not being pushed. My kid has fallen multiple grade levels in math and reading this year due to the fact that the school won't teach above the specific grade level.

Not pleased with this school. Fort Mill is not as good as parents think. Over crowding, teachers that don't know how to differentiate, teachers that don't ask why you are not pleased, ect. This school should be much better with the amount of taxes I pay. Leadership change is definitely needed.

As a parent, I rarely see any classwork material sent home. In fact, the teacher has only sent class work home twice (before Christmas and in March) in large amounts. Ridiculous.

Really pleased with our son's teacher, she is great! I've received great feedback on our son's progress. I cannot express enough our gratitude for always maintaining great communication even after business hours.

This is the worst school in the district for children with learning differences. The principal has set in place a hostile dynamic with parents who attempt to gain services.

If you have a typical learner, your child will most likely do well in this school. The vast majority of teachers here are wonderful and very dedicated to their students. If your child requires additional learning resources though, this school is well known for being the worst in the district. Parents with children who require additional education services are forced to fight tooth and nail for evaluations and services. The principal, over the years, has created a hostile environment where parents of children with needs are left feeling unsupported and attacked. If your child has any sort of learning differences, you would be wise to look into any of the other elementary schools within the district.

Many teachers are adopting new research which has proved homework is an ineffective learning strategy during the primary years. Most no longer assign busy work in the form of worksheets and are more progressive in their homework policy.

My daughters just completed their first year at SCES after moving out of NC and transferring from CMS. I think SCES has an outstanding administration and staff. Both of my girls did exceptionally well for the new environment and I feel like they were absolutely challenged more than their previous school (that we did love though!) As a parent, I really appreciated the consistent communication from the school and all of the extra programs that were available to the kids.

Absolutely love this school! My son is a 1st grader in Mrs. Pringle's class. She is AMAZING!!!!!!! Cannot say enough wonderful things about her, the school and Principal Gritz. I am so glad we moved to this area. The education my son is receiving is stellar. Very proud that my son is a Sugar Creek Shark!

We love SCES!! It is a great school with awesome teachers! We currently live off of Gold Hill Rd and is suppose to transfer our son to Pleasant Knoll but my son loves this school so much that it is very hard to have transfer. He loves his friends and his teachers so much!

Absolutely amazing. Down to earth family oriented staff and teachers all around! Leearning should be in a fun and comfortable environment.

Extreemly organized and strategic --- fostering learning in this sort of environment is one the best impressions any child should have for continued education.

While everyone is very nice the school is not very challenging. We moved from out of state and our kids are very bored. Because we are from out of state they are not eligible for the more challenging gifted program until they are tested (not until Novermber).
