As a parent of three boys who have attended, or are currently attending, this school, I could not be more pleased with our experience at Cockrill Elementary School. The staff is consistently caring, supportive, and engaged with the children. It is a close-knit neighborhood school that has provided an environment that always feels safe and welcoming. It gives me the sense, as a parent, that I’m working alongside people who are also looking out for my kids. I’ve been impressed with how well my children have been prepared academically and socially for the transition to junior high. My kids have consistently tested well on the benchmark testing, and have done so with the support provided by their educators. Over the years, I’ve continued to see meaningful growth and positive developments in both my children and the school itself. It truly is a community-oriented school. We are grateful for the strong foundation Cockrill Elementary School has provided, and continues to provide, for our children.

We’ve had a wonderful experience with this school. My son absolutely loves his teacher and it shows in how excited he is to go to school each day. The administration genuinely cares about the students and families, which makes a big difference. It’s also been great to see how much the school has improved over the past few years. The steady growth in enrollment really speaks to the positive direction things are heading. We’re grateful to be part of this community! Go Cougars!

I can’t say enough good things about this small but mighty school. Cockrill Elementary has been a fantastic place for my child. The staff and faculty really care and go above and beyond to support the students and families. The principal and leadership team are very thoughtful in their staffing and strategy to make Cockrill successful. My child enjoys school and feels confident and capable because she hears it everyday-“Cockrill Cougars Can!”

Cockrill Elementary has made big strides in the past few years. Family Engagement events are on the rise along with a new Parent Teacher Organization that is helping families and students feel more connected with this gem of a neighborhood school. Test scores have been steadily rising and it is because of the hard work of the staff and the curriculum supports they offer for parents to help kids at home. My child feels loved and excited to learn each day.

We’ve been part of Cockrill Elementary for three years and couldn’t be happier. The staff is incredibly dedicated and truly cares about each student.

We love that the school is small enough that everyone knows my son by name, it creates such a special, supportive environment.

It’s also been exciting to be part of the school’s growth, especially helping launch the PTO over the past few years. There’s amazing momentum here, and it’s a wonderful community to be part of.

Teachers don't care the front office people don't care the principal I have never spoken to them before I don't know if she or he on top of that my child should not be coming home with bruises on her face and they telling me they have no idea what happened I'm very disappointed in that school I wish I could leave you guys a review 0 on top of that the school acting like they can't give me my child's record or transcript she takes IEP and she's not verbal that's why I asked the teachers what happened when they told me they don't know what happened there are 11 students and four teachers it shouldn't be so hard to know what happened to a child on top of that they always complain about her having severe diarrhea you've given her food and you expecting her not to poop what sense does that make and yes she can eat any dairy food with no issue they're just lazy they didn't want to change her diaper what kind of Head start people do that to a child I wish I could sue the school for that but I was too nice I've moved to a different state and I've been requesting her record her new school has been requesting her record and transcript and they have no idea what to do my child is falling behind from her new school in a different state it shouldn't be so hard for them to email me her information on top of that I'm so disappointed in that principle in the school I'm so disappointed in their guidance office you should be available for parents I don't need to be coming back to Nashville to get a record for my child it's very disappointing I will never recommend any student who takes IEP to go to that school unless your child can speak for their self

Teachers at Cockrill Elementary School are very dedicated to each and every student. We value parental input and welcome their support. The best thing about our school is the way faculty & staff care for the students. Our students know we care deeply about them and will do just about anything to help them succeed in school. Our academic scores are getting better, but we still have a way to go. We are working hard to become the best elementary school in West Nashville!

I have been at Cockrill for 15 years. The teachers and staff are very loving and caring. Mrs. Cochrane and Dr Fuqua are Awesome. Cockrill is a GREAT school for children.

Cockrill is the new up and coming neighborhood school! It is a Project Based Learning model school for the district. Students work towards the behavior bashes! If you send your child to this school you will be extremely satisfied!

Cockrill Elementary is a great school to work at. I would feel comfortable sending my own kids here. These old reviews do not accurately reflect the atmosphere of the current school. All the teachers here are hard working and care deeply about their students. I know we strive to have open communication between parents and the school. Our principal is a great leader and also takes great interest in each individual student. She is supportive to both parents and staff. We work very hard to make sure each student succeeds and is recieving the help they need to be successful. We offer many great programs that give students extra support at the school.

MAY 2014 Cockrill Elementary is a wonderful school which has undergone a complete change in administration, staff and climate. Our staff consistently rates this as a great place to work, parents and community are very involved and students are making great gains! I love this school! I had a problem with my sons report card and requested to meet with the teacher and principal. That week we all met along with other faultily members, and was able to resolve the problem. My sons teacher is a very good, but firm teacher. She will give it like she sees it with no sugar. She pushes and compliments the children, to their full potential. But with me, theirs no sugar and she to the point good or bad. I didn't understand this at first; after the meeting I understand and respect that she wants to inform me, yet her main goal iis getting back to the children.

The teachers, principal, and staff at this school are rude, disrespectful, non-responsive and hateful. There is a culture of bias and disrespect throughout the entire school from the classrooms to the office staff. The staff routinely spends time gossiping about the children instead of taking that time to create a plan to educate them in the area needed. There are parents who take the time and initiative to assist in their childs education and who are not lazy but are faced with this sort of....(not ignorance but intentional bias) of certain children in an education staff. They are truly not in the business of education!!!

my daughters teacher isn't helpful, sends almost 20 pages of school work home and more when she is out of school sick or doc appointments! her teacher complains about certain things that has already been told to where my daughter doesn't need! the office staff is very rude and unresponsive.. i rate this school unsatisfactory! i think they need the staff and some teachers from Eakin Elementary to go there and help straighten that cockrill out! also the principle from 2007 and 2008 at Eakin!
