It’s been a pleasure being a Hill family for the past three years. Our kids have flourished there thanks to great teachers; an attentive administration, and a racially, socioeconomically diverse student body. I’m thankful we left the magnet school (which was perfectly fine but lacked community and was very homogenous) to come back to our community school.

This school was horrible. I was treated very unfairly by most of the staff. I’ve learned nothing there other than I would never want to send my kid to school like that. they gave me a horrible education, and made my mental health so horrible.

ngl this school is annoying and I don’t feel safe going here. I like my teachers but nobody really does anything to stop these kids from fighting or doing stupid stuff. There is so much online harassment my friends have gone suicidal. There is trash everywhere and the kids all try to act like they’re in a gang when they are 12. Test averages are horrible and I’m actually starting to pity these teachers. I’m tired of eating mystery meat for lunch. The lunch ladies are super chill tho. The teachers are mostly cool. I don’t feel safe bc of the wannabe gang relationships in this school. I went to the bathroom and a fat cockroach was crawling on my backpack. Half of the time the halls smell like rust and fish. I don’t know if that’s the people or just the school. Overall if you’re a parent trying to get your kid into this school, don’t. The staff here are mostly nice but the kids are horrible. I hate this school. I hate fat cockroaches and mystery meat.

They are racist at this school!!! If your child has a disagreement with another child... and maybe pass a couple of words if you are black they will suspend your child for 2 weeks... never have I ever had any school treat blacks kids the way this school does!!!

They treat black kids different so not send a Africa American child to this school they treat them different

Posted: March 23, 2019

They go about situations totally wrong!!! Instead of trying to solve the situation they will just suspend your child excessively

Horrible... this school is extremely racist!!! Do not send your child here if they are African American

Since my daughter has been going there she has raised her test scores and confidence.

They don't give homework for homework sake. They only give it to improve a skill when needed. They do not give busy work.

Teachers are some of the best in the district and have several leadership awards. Principal is fantastic and is actually lead principal over all the cluster schools which says a great deal in her ability to lead. My daughter has done nothing but improve at this school in academics. She has gone from basic to almost advanced in 3 subjects and proficient in the other. The Project based learning experiences have been very engaging. There is a tremendous amount of extra curricular and clubs for students to fit in. My daughters favorites are rock band, and choral. There are places for students to take on leadership roles. This is a great school. Test scores are not the best indicator on what is really happening at this school. Kids are thriving. My only negative is that they do not have early or late care which posses a problem for working middle class parents. Proud to be a H.G. Hill panther parents. You need to visit the school. You will be impressed.

After two years on experience I decided to change school, not because the Teachers or Principal, they are good and I guess they do what they are told to do but my first reason was the every day fights among children (hurting physically) and a lot of bullying (hurting emotionally), my son didn't even wat to go anymore after half of the school year. They need to be more structured and disciplined. The other reason I think the curriculum needs to be improved big time and they really need to focus on children needs, many are not challenge enough it is way too easy.

The school's staff was very nice and professional from my experience at H.g Hill Middle. Even though the kids were "bussed" in from lower budget neighborhoods, I felt like they were fairly respectable considering their home circumstances. I attended H.g Hill from 5th to 7th grade and loved it. The teacher's were patient and I thought that they would work with you if stuff was going on at home. One problem I did see as a student's standpoint was that there was some bullying. However, that's at most schools and I would consider this school to be one of the better schools in Metro. Overall, my experience was awesome.
