Definitely has to be the worst school I've ever been to. The students are extremely violent and the staff is careless towards any bullying type of situation. The emotion support is really bad due to teachers and students harassing you for being emotional. If you plan on transferring your student PLEASE reconsider.

Knowing that I've been a student there over the years that past , I can finally see how the teachers where bring towards students. I know this one student that has got bullied alot by other students, and students will talk to the teachers about them and they would agree and say don't tell. That's when I knew the school was just not a good environment for those in need time to express their self really was sad to watch it all never once spoke to anyone cause of the disorders I don't recommend this school to anyone that hasn't prepared their children to be aware of students and teacher like that.

Great, caring teachers and staff who help students go that extra mile. Opportunities abounding with clubs like FBLA, FCA, art club, and others. School counselors who keep you on path for success beyond high school by assisting with ACT, FAFSA, and scholarship forms. Everyone cares about the character and integrity of the students. Can't beat the hands on science classes or the English classes that start with memorization, move on to critical thinking, and propel students to create. Languages are limited to English and Spanish, but these are the primary languages in North America. Math classes help students beyond understanding the concept by diving into how students can apply the concepts to everyday life and possible workforce settings. The arts teach skills for discipline, patience, acceptance, appreciation, and setting goals - all of which are necessary to being a well-rounded individual. PE classes consist of gym and wellness to promote a healthy lifestyle. And the social studies classes like government and economics help prepare students to become well-informed and contributing members of society.

The school, education wise, is outstanding. Lots of clubs, activities, and well behaved students. The problem I have is Dr. Grimes, the current principal. He shows favoritism towards certain groups of students and allows them to fly under the radar, and judges students based on appearances. He is also disrespectful to students AND parents. I don't recommend putting your child here until he is gone. There are also teachers who play favoritism toward the more "preppy" students and the white male athletes (Dr. Grimes included). The sports department gets everything for free while the art and music departments have to raise their own money for anything.

I graduated in 2008, and I loved the education that I received from this school. I was completely prepared for college because I got out of my education what I put into it. I will say I was fortunate enough to get teachers that were highly motivated to do their jobs, and I have heard of several teachers who simply operated to make his/her students meet the minimum standards in order to pass. However, my teachers were not this low of caliber.

The opportunities that SHS provides to the kids is amazing. AND the number of scholarships given last year to students was over $4million. The facilities have been updated and are nicer than they used to be.
