Appling Middle is a wonderful school. The communication is excellent. The education tools (applications, tablets) are very advanced.

The band program is superb. Ms Sanders is incredible with the program.

Safety has not been a concern. Communication with teachers and staff have been easy with immediate responses.

Oppressive environment. Hard to learn there. They like to write kids up for everything it seems. Very happy my daughter is leaving this year.

DO WHATEVER YOU NEED TO DO AS LONG AS YOU DONT HAVE TO SEND YOUR CHILDREN HERE! I would pick negative stars if that were possible! The teachers have been great, let me start with that statement. The entire issue is the administration, the principle is lazy. The assistant principle targets children if you question his discipline. The administration completely ignores and cannot handle any type of parental concerns, bullying is swept under the rug, administration shows favoritism to specific students, fights daily because this school has children not living in Bartlett. If you can afford private school, do it! If you can’t, request a transfer to literally anywhere else. I cannot express how sincere I am when I tell you to NOT trust these people with your children.

So this school is so very bad because first off the teacher one I won’t name is bad she said the n word and she’s white and teachers be cursing not at us but and then they laugh like that’s not funny. The school animanstion are very annoying I don’t even do anything to make them make and yet they get on my case plus the school is sort of run down like when I was in gym a vent started leaking water. They start at 7am that’s when high school starts and there excuse “we are preparing you for high school” but am I in high school no! The food there is trash and they have the nerve to call it a cafe. They give what slips for the dumbest reasons. I got a what slip from them because I wasn’t walking on the right. I’m am so done and disappointed with this school. I might ask my mom or dad for a transfer. Plus they be yelling at 7am I just woke up 2 hours ago.

The principal ignores all problems. If she does get involved, she tells the assistant principals or the teachers to handle it.

They have no support from the administration.

Posted: May 24, 2019

Students are highly disrespectful to teachers and the administration ignores it.

Posted: May 24, 2019

The school needs more special education teachers. Half the students have IEP’s, however they are not put in co-teaching classes.

Posted: May 24, 2019

This school is a joke. Principal sends daily emails telling teachers to put in grades and conduct. It is an insult to professionals.

Very poor administrators. Every time that I approach them with a need or concern I have been brushed off or ignored! They are only concerned about their state scores. I even went to them about a bully that threatened to bring a gun to school and kill my kid and they did nothing but lecture me on how people are innocent until proven guilty. This placed every child in that school in danger.

We have been met with resistance from the first IEP that we called. They don’t want to make any accommodations! We made simple request like having the teacher check to make sure that our child has what she needs to do her homework which they agreed to do but never did. My child has failed every subject but I’m sure they will pass her on and she will fall even father behind.

This school ignores complaints on bullying. We have been deal with a bully for most of the year. The bully has gotten into multiple fights with other students and even punched the school officer in the face yet somehow she’s still allowed to continue terrorizing the kids. She started bullying my kid about 3 months ago. She pushed her into a locker. I brought it to the principal and she told me she was forwarding it to someone else to “investigate.” The other person called about an my child sitting in the girls seat at lunch and when I asked about the investigation she said she knew nothing about it but would “investigate”. Then a few days later the girl told my child that she would “bring a gun to school and kill” her. I then came to the school the next morning after finding out what happened and afraid for my child’s safety. The principal was too busy to meet with me. After I refused to leave until someone talked with me then they got another administrator. She took my complaint and told me she’d “investigate”. I told her that wasn’t good enough and she began lecturing me on how our judicial system works. I told her if they weren’t going to do anything then I wanted to call the police. She got the officer for the school to told me he knew the child very well. I’m sure because he’s the one she punched in the face. I filed a report. The school didn’t even check to see if the girl had a gun on her that morning! I pulled my child and told them she would not be back until it was resolved. They presented us with the solution of changing all of my child’s classes, keep in mind my child has special needs and an IEP. We refused. We ended up going to the superintendent before they finally after 1 1/2 weeks agreed to move the bully out of my child’s classes. I’m so disappointed in how little this school does to protect our kids!

I spoke with the school at the beginning of the year about my special needs child needing shorten homework assignments because it takes her so long to do them. I told them “I’m not going to make her do 5 hour of homework every night” the administration said “Welcome to being a parent”. I then explained to them that she needs some assistance with remembering to bring home her work to do the homework. After much debate they agree to have a peer or teacher double check that she had what she needed at the end of the day. It NEVER happened.

Both of my children have struggled this year. The teachers will not reach out to you about your child at all.

Posted: April 9, 2018

This school will not do what’s needed to handle bullies, disruptive kids, or violent kids! They refuse to follow their own protocols. We had to go to the superintendent to get them to handle a bully.

Posted: April 9, 2018

Very Bad! My kids will be moving to another school this next year! I would not recommend this school!

I told the principal my girl was bullied on the bus by a boy. They investigated it, suspended the boy, and the vice principle even got on the bus and addressed everyone there. I was impressed!

Posted: March 2, 2018

They assign about the right amount of homework, and they usually give a day to make it up for every day student is out sick.

Posted: March 2, 2018

It is hard to teach a disrespectful and distracted generation. Appling has many passionate teachers who successfully enable the students to overcome these barriers. But a few of my children’s teachers—whether due to lack of skill or lack of heart—spend little time on their few feet teaching and much time at their desks expecting the students to teach thenselves.

For being middle school, it’s pretty good.
