My children attended this school previously, and my review is based on this experience.
First, I will begin with the positives. I feel that the majority of the teachers at this school are very passionate about their jobs as educators. They try very hard to keep their students engaged which can be a daunting process with large class sizes and what sometimes feels like no guidance and support from the district and admin. Also, I was very happy and surprised with the amount of parent involvement that occurred at the campus. Parents were allowed to help and volunteer their time to help the teachers and the students feel supported. The fundraising and volunteer opportunities that did occur were engaging and the money was spent on the campus.
However, there were many negative experiences that occurred to my children while attending this school. Bullying is very much a large problem at this school, and there is no support from the campus. My children experienced instances of emotional, verbal and even physical abuse on the campus. Investigations were done and reports, and findings per district policy did not nothing to keep this from happening spanning over years, in regards to the emotional and verbal abuse, and in regards to the physical , this investigation did nothing. We are currently homeschooling our children wholly from the trauma that they had inflicted upon them day after day at this school. It is now hard for them to trust that they will be safe and supported in a school environment. The thought of them going back in the the public school system fills them with anxiety.
There is no real communication between the school and parents, and I , as a parent, felt completely unsupported and powerless as well.
Sadly, Rivercrest has the opportunity to be a great school, but falls very much short of the bar.

As a Muslim, I very much liked the respect for religion, the intellectual communication of my children, and the feeling of comfort, support, and assistance in studying

The administration in this school is harsh and uncaring. The best teachers have fled this cold environment, and many of the remaining teachers are apathetic at best. The principal is only concerned with getting money for the school that she can use to buy food for teachers. They have kids fundraising constantly for no visible gain. If you don't participate, they look for ways to punish students and are rigid and disciplinarian in ways that don't bring value or structure to the classroom. It feels more like a prison than elementary school.

The leadership and culture at this school is superior. There is no doubt that the students are loved by the teachers and staff. We transferred our students here from another Bartlett school for the Honors STEAM program and couldnt be more pleased. RES is an excellent school, and I wouldnt hesitate sending my children here.

My daughter is in her first year at Rivercrest. We couldn't be more pleased!!!! She jumps out of bed every morning so excited about going to school. She is greeted at the door by name. They make kids feel loved a special at this school. It has a great atmosphere. She has grown a learned so much this year. We are so excited that we get to be a part of the Rivercrest family for years to come.

I was cautiously optimistic about my daughter swithching to Rivercrest this year from a private school. Since Bartlett took over administration, I hoped it would be positive, but it hadn't ranked well on great schools website. What an eye opener! This has been such a wonderful change for my 4th grader. She has never been so supported and encouraged. When she started she had some learning gaps from a season of illness years before. They had never fully been filled in. Now at Rivercrest, she has had superior intervention and is not only pulling her weight academically, but she is applying for their STEAM program (a specialized program focusing of Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Math). Her confidence has soared. She loves school again and improves daily. I would recommend Rivercrest to every family! Ms. Tate runs a tight ship and knows every child. The teachers are excellent and well prepared. Couldn't ask for better.

Our Principal won Outstanding Principal of the Year for the whole entire state of TN. She regularly is in the back parking lot during drop-off and pick-up to make sure drivers are following the rules to keep children safe. I know that she would jump in front of a speeding car to save a child. She loves children that much. The parent who left the negative comment about our principal "barking" must have been one of the drivers who was on a cell phone exceeding the speed limit. Our principal is an excellent role model; I hope my children grow up to be so caring and protective of children. The teachers at Rivercrest are wonderful and go above & beyond their jobs. The PTA is strong and active, too. We love this school!

Did you know that Rivercrest Elementary has been names a PTA School of Excellence? This is do to the wonderful parent involvement that we have at our school. They work so well with the teachers and administrators. The administrators are top-notched! They are always available. I can't say enough great things about Rivercrest and we are just beginning our journey in this school.

Rivercrest Elementary has the BEST teachers and administration! The teachers go out of their way to really love and nurture their students. Mrs. Tate and Mrs. Woods are amazing administrators. They both have a heart for students, teachers and education. We can't wait to see how Rivercrest Elem will thrive in the Bartlett City School District. Rivercrest is truly a hidden gem.

Be forewarned, if you live within 1.5 miles of the school your child cannot ride the bus. For working parents, this leaves 5 years olds walking miles alone, parents paying an average of $200 a week for before and after school care, or problems at work.

Rivercrest truly is much more than a school, it is a FAMILY!!! I have three kids in school here and we have been here for 5 years now and we LOVE it. I will admit I was very nervous and apprehensive about school when it was time for my oldest to start kindergarten because my children were never in day care, but I am here to tell you that all that worry was for nothing! Every single teacher, administration and principal that we have ever had contact with at Rivercrest is amazing! All of the leaders at the school really do love the children! I wish that we could stay here and not have to leave for middle school! Thank you Rivercrest and keep up the good work!!!!!

Mrs Tate is a true asset. There is no doubt that Rivercrest is full of quality leaders that love the children and make them the number 1 priority. That starts at the top with Mrs Tate. She not only loves her students, but the parents as well and makes sure they are always encouraged to be involved. I'm a proud parent of two sons that have attended Rivercrest.
