The new principal is imposing discipline in the school and sends out a voice message every morning to motivate students. He also wrote a personal note on every student's report card for the first semester. I expect to see great things from this school as he, the staff, and teachers continue.

Don't let the scores intimidate you. There is a new principal at Bolton, and he is turning things around. The school has an International Baccalaureate (IB) program. My dealings with staff have been very good. Some teachers can be slow to respond to e-mails, but I'm not sure if it's due to their workload.
My daughter was set to go to Arlington High School, which has an 8/10 score, until we were able to interact with some of the IB students. They were impressive! Juniors were giving great presentations and talking about projects they managed that would be challenging for many adults. The program's graduates rack up impressive sums of scholarship money.
All in all, I am glad my daughter is at Bolton. We look forward to the next four years.

Abother child came in my child's class and fought him. The teacher was present and seen the entire incident nothing was done. The principal and officer talked me out of pressing charges against this kid. They told me that it would affect my child's record. Gave themail kid 5 day suspension, basically a slap on the wrist.

Some of the teachers are just there for compensation.

The principles and staff could care less about the students. Their solution is to suspend them and collect a paycheck. I whole heartedit hate this school.

Homework is never given. They are on block schedules, which sucks.

I love it at Bolton! I've been here 3 years, and it keeps getting better. Of course their is going to be some gang related issues, since it's a high school. They have them at Bartlett and Millington, and no one says anything about that! Overall, it's a great school to meet new friends, and the IB program, the band, choir, and orchestra, and the athletics program help make this school as great as it is today! It's kinda different since our old principle left, so the rules have changed a little. People just need to get use to it. Bolton is a wonderful experience for any teenager.

I have one child that is about to be a senior and one that is going to be a freshmen. I must say that Shelby County does a great job of keeping the school's discipline trouble out of the media. I don't blame the faculty; it's the students. Like many schools in and around the Memphis area there is a gang problem. And my eldest has complained of racial problems amongst the students and blatant disrespect towards the teachers . There are good aspects about the school such as the band, choir, sports, and some academic programs . I just hate that some of the students wont recognize and accept the great education they could get from the educators there.
