We love Germantown High School. It's changed over the years - as all things do. We love the traditions established years ago still continue and many teachers are Germantown HS alumni. We also appreciate new, younger and recently hired staff who bring a new perspective to the school and leadership. There are a lot of activities for the students including a wide variety of clubs and organizations to sports and class electives. There is something for every student. My children were involved in the IB program and the Creative and Performing Arts program - one in each - and, while they were definitely challenged and the commitment was intense, I see how much it prepared them for the "real world."

I really thought this would be a great school for my kids but it have turned out to be the worst school they have ever been to in Shelby County… it is taking them forever to send my kids records to their current school which is keeping them from being enrolled..they always have a attitude in M building. My kids stated they can never get help with nothing and one of kids who have a IEP can never get the services he needs to be successful…I hate it.

Fellow student here and let me tell you the TRUTH about this “perfect school” the teachers DONT CARE, they treat you like slaves not students, but complain about the amount of work they have to grade and blame students, counselors are not even counselors lollll... they are like nurses who give you an ice pack for a bullet wound. Yeah no this school is so OVERRATED, does not deserve even the 3.7 stars it has.. please do better for your kids.. allow them to be at a school who doesn’t push them to be slaves, instead be creative and have creative freedom. This school is just another wanna be Bartlett or collierville high ... don’t waste your time.

Horrific, this school is one of the worst in the city. Don't let AP and IB classes fool you, most kids won't even pass a single exam. This is due to the poor teaching of students traded for the advantage of a few. The teachers and administrators provide far better care for economically advantaged and white students than any other, and this shows through the inequality of punishments. Time and time again, this shines through. Not to mention that the principle of this school is nowhere to be found, the first time I saw her in my 4 years of attending this school was at graduation. She refuses to see or talk to any students regardless of necessity, and all other administrators follow suit. Teachers are never checked, all complaints are thrown aside until it escalates to a white teacher saying the N-word in front of a class. Only when the school gets on the news will any wrongdoing be assessed.

My first two years there, leadership was good. During my 2nd year, I had a problem with a teacher and they took care of it for me. But, as the years went on, I felt like there wasn't much leadership by the administration.

I attended Germantown Schools from Elementary to High School. My parents and I loved attending all the Germantown Schools when I went through schooling. However, by the end of my high school career, I could see the school was going down in quality. I think it had to do with the municipal school districts forming and taking all the good teachers that I had growing up in the Germantown Schools. If I were to bring my kids to the Germantown Schools, I would have to think twice before enrolling them.

This school has a lot going for it, one of the best you can find anywhere. Very rigorous academic program, both through honors / AP classes, as well as through the amazing International Baccalaureate (IB) program. Students from GHS receive impressive scholarships to the best universities in the U.S., not only for pure academics, but also for the excellent Fine Arts programs that the school offers. Everyone is made to feel welcome. Very international - all students will feel at home, no matter what their origins. The students motivate each other - it is a great environment.

They don't acknowledge their new students and they don't ask them if they come from a different state that did different things. They just judge you based on if they think you went there last year.

My daughter graduated in 2013 with honors, top 10% of class of 500. Self-motivated and made her own way at GHS. No real college guidance from school but earned full scholarship at top tier school. Faculty seems to operate on survival mode. Many privileges associated with the high school experience are lost because students don't know how to act.

This school is what you make of it. My daughter worked hard and received a great education and 24 hours college credit. The teachers were very hard working, caring people, and the staff members were very helpful.

Germantown High School, located in Germantown, Tn is NOT A FAIRY TAIL School!! When It Comes To Academics , Germantown Is a Good School , but many teachers and stafff place Germantown at risk for being the best school. Today , my child was in the office sick and needed to call home. She asked the Lady in the office if she could have an excuse note back to class , and the lady told my daughter "No , Leave me alone. I am on my Lunch Break". I found that comment very disrespectful and Rude!!!! There hast been many cases similar to ehat happened to my daughter. I am very disappointed in Germantown High School !!

The IB program is rigorous & challenging & the teachers are inspired, dedicated, & hard-working. My son is pleased that he made the switch from private to this public school. The fine arts program is exceptional. GHS has great school spirit, excellent teachers, strong leadership, and excellent academics.
