As someone who has taught in the public school system at CMCSS for years, I have to say I will be sending my children here when they are able.

CA has seriously impressed me ever since I started working here. The students are held to a higher standard both academically and behaviorally, the smaller class sizes are beneficial for both teachers and students, and the culture here is at the very least miles above even the highest performing public school in Clarksville (where I taught at for years).

I have noticed a few reviews regarding favoritism and bullying. While I obviously can't speak for everyone's experience, I personally as a teacher do not notice any of those things going on. In fact, I have actually observed the opposite behavior. Kids that I know who would have had a rough social interaction at the public schools I taught actually thrive here and I have been pleasantly surprised how much some of the kids encourage others here. We absolutely have a handful of kids that think they are too cool but they typically get called out on that behavior.

Academics are also very impressive, I think I can easily say more than half the teachers here have an advanced degree in their field (public schools barely require just a bachelors) and most of the upper school staff is qualified and currently teaching dual-enrollment college courses through Austin Peay State University.

The highest praise I can give this school is that as a teacher, I want my kids going here as they grow up.

Greetings all! I am a former student of Clarksville Academy who left after 3 years of being there for multiple reasons.
At this school, I experienced and witnessed bullying from my classmates which went unchecked by the school administration. The type of child who thrives socially at this school is one who has extremely wealthy parents and enjoys picking on people who aren't them. The school administration will always favor these kids and they will be excepted by students who are the same way. Concerning the education itself, there was no discipline or challenging aspects of the courses. I believe that this is the type of school to pass everyone just so that they can say that they have a good education. This leaves many of their graduates going into college struggling greatly because they are not used to academically challenging courses. This school does not prepare students for college.

Great and getting better. Bottom line, CA has the best academic programs in the Clarksville area. Other schools have their bright spots, but CA has consistently show themselves to be superior to other schools in the area for decades. Read some other reviews and do not discredit other people's experiences but under the new leadership of Mrs. Hinote, the school is just getting better and better.

My family did not have a good experience at this school. There are much better schools in Montgomery County to attend. Many of the county schools are reward schools and much more advanced.

Homework EVERY night for elementary students. Assignments are given with a level of difficulty to high and unrealistic for the age of the child. Assignments are basically the parents. In depth biography essays that require research for second grade students is ridiculous.

In our experience the teachers have been bigger bullies than some of the children. Favoritism of high donor children and "legacy" children is a problem. My child has been singled out, intimidated and manipulated. At times the teacher has used students to intimidate each other. False accusations of misbehavior is also a problem.

My child has character, integrity, compassion and respect before ever starting school here. It was taught at home. Some of the staff members seem to be strongly lacking these traits though. It also depends on who the child is as to whether or not they are punished for bad behavior.

There is high turn over among teachers. Complaints are not very welcome and little is done to resolve issues in the classroom. Elementary head of school will back the teacher no matter what.
Leadership seems to only be concerned with money.

Considering their recent baseball violations for at least a second time, coach shopping they've done, underhanded approach, it's not something you want to be connected to. Also, with a drug bust at the school a couple months ago, the school atmosphere has completely changed.

My son started going to CA part way through his freshman year and so far I have been very happy and impressed with the school. He loves it there, especially compared to the public schools. He has specifically commented on the LACK of bullying issues. The classes are more challenging but smaller in size. His grades had been slipping prior to changing schools, but with the help of his new teachers he pulled all of his grades back up to A's and B's. He is excited about starting his Sophomore year and is aiming for all A's. Although it is expensive I would definitely recommend this school to others!

The decision to send our two children to Clarksville Academy has been one that we will NEVER regret! Head of School, Dr. Kay Drew, does a wonderful job filling the entire school with quality educators. Our children love going to school everyday! You can not beat the exemplary academics, community atmosphere, and school spirit found at CA. We are proud to be a family of Clarksville Academy Cougars!

From first hand experience the leadership and teachers have helped in every situation and worked very hard when students or parents of students misbehave. We have been very pleased with the action taken over any issues with the bad behavior or children.

The teachers completely commit every day and offer evenings, extra help, and give daily emails of homework, newsletters, upcoming tests, and volunteer many hours to the children. They genuinely care and are so very kind and great you with a smile and hug! Love them all!

Continuously the teachers strive to help, give guidance, reinforcement time, offer to meet before or after school and care about the homework being done correctly and that my children understand the lesson. Way beyond just a check mark and + :)

We are moving to Clarksville this summer. We toured a variety of schools, and found CA to be above the rest. Their academic program combined with athletic offerings make us excited to begin. We have just finished the Financial Aid process with Admissions Director, Amy Burchett and found her to be helpful, energetic and knowledgable. We look forward to joining the Cougar family!

The coaches and administration are very much into "money" and "showing respect only to their pets."

Kids are bullied and treated very unfair by many teachers, coaches and administrators.

The director of finance, only gives freebies to his friends and the "elite" group. Otherwise, he snubs phone calls and emails.

Military families BEWARE! This school is not for you. Many of the kids that attend this school have grown up together and your children will be treated as OUTSIDERS. The administration is far from helpful and will DISMISS your concerns. Also, teacher turn over is HUGE at this school and many of the teachers are NOT certified teachers. Please, don't make the mistake we made. AVOID this school.

This is a private school and they DO NOT have special education teachers. They also do not have to follow IEP plans.

This school is very dear to me. As a graduate myself, I feel that Clarksville Academy played a huge role in my personal and professional success. Having not attended Clarksville Academy my entire school career, I was able to appreciate the unique aspects of the school that were different than any other school I had attended in the past. The smaller class sizes, the level of dedication that the teachers had to the students and their success, and positive atmosphere were just a few things that made this school a FANTASTIC place to learn! I treasure my time spent there, learning experiences in and out of the classroom and my lifelong friends that I made during my time at CA!

Our son graduated from Clarksville Academy. We moved him from the public schools when he was in the 7th grade and he was not happy about it one bit, but with 2 days of being there he hugged and thanked us both a million times over for bringing him here. We NEVER regretted the decision and now our grandson is a part of this great legacy!

My children were able to come to CA and feel comfortable enough to get involved with school activities and feel like they belong because of the environment offered at CA. They were able to blossom here, unlike public school.

I believe Clarksville Academy is a wonderful school because of the small 1:1 class ratio, technology, CBL, and the loving nurturing faculty. I strongly agree with their mission statement which is, "to promote academic excellence, moral integrity, and physical and social growth. The curriculum is wonderful, the workload for all grades seems to be appropriate. The bullying from the kids that have "family ties" to the school or to the coaches is unreal! The bullying gets the "kids will be kids" answer and never fixed. The bullying has been verbal and physical.

If you are a military family looking to send your child to a good school don't look here. If your child is different in any way they will be bullied and nothing will be done about it. Why? $$$$ As a military family you are only temporary, while the other "old" Clarksville families will remain and the Heads of School know that. One other area to considered is the fact that most of their teachers don't stay for more than a few years. Why? How many of these teachers have current state certifications? What are they endorsed in? Are they familiar with common core standards?

Preferential treatment is given depending on who you are, your family, what you've given to the school. In fact, if your parents have gone here or given money to the school, your bad behavior seems to go overlooked. No matter how many times a certain kid's name comes up regarding bullying, ineffective or no action is taken by the school. Good lip service will be given though. If you're not in the crowd, expect your concerns to be brushed to the side.

So glad we enrolled our child here! CA has been a perfect fit, and we were welcomed with open arms. School work is challenging and our child has made friends quickly. We made an effort to contribute to the school by volunteering and were quickly and enthusiastically accepted by other families, and appreciated by the staff and admin. The atmosphere is not been "cliquish" to our family, but like most things, you get out of it what you put in to it. I suspect those who stand back and watch others feel less accepted than those who put forth the effort to get to know people and help out. Great school for us!

Our kids have been at this school for several years. In my opinion, they have grown academically and are challenged in their classes. Our kids enjoy the open campus environment and don't feel so restricted with so many rules that often plagues public schools. At no point have we, including our kids, felt that we don't "fit" due to our social or financial status. Any issues that have come up have been resolved by the teacher....quickly!

CA has been a blessing in our life. Our children have thrived in this environment. We looked for several qualities that CA offered small classrooms, progressive with up to date technology. When compared to Nashville costs CA provided the same benefits for a fraction of the cost. I have been amazed how the school has evolved during our time there. Nothing is perfect but it is very good. Our children have nice friends and their testing scores have proved the school. Thanks CA for all you do.

I also recommend for newcomers to read about the bulling that takes place at this school. My child was there for a short period of time due to him being constantly bullied by his peers. We brought this up several times to the administrators and a couple of teachers, nothing was ever done about it. I understand this is supposed to be the best school in Clarksville, but please do not send your child there unless you have a LOT of money and a high social status in this town.

I love CA! I have two children that graduated from Clarksville Academy and they excelled in that environment. They were by no means perfect students. When discipline was need, discipline was handed out. I am not a parent that believes their child is perfect, so I was grateful for the structure given. My husband and I had conferences regarding our children and our concerns and opinions were always heard. Parent involvement was always welcome and the principal had an open door policy. My husband and I were not born and raised in Clarksville, the military brought us here, but My children were never made to feel like they were outsiders or didn't belong because their parents and grandparents were not CA alumni. I am sure that private education isn't for everyone and that public education is great for some, but CA was a great fit for our family!

I am so disappointed to read some of the reviews on this school. I have two children at this school and another one that will start Pre-K as soon as they are old enough. Sure, a child can get a good education in the public school system, but our family values discipline, individualized student learning, safety, and character education also. My children have been challenged academically and have exceeded every expectation we have had for their education. I have read parents reviews that the school isn't worldly-enough...not sure exactly what that means but I do know that I want my children to stay children! Maybe private education isn't for everyone, but there's no place else I would rather send my children!! I am proud of CA and what they are doing for my children.

Please read the reviews that discuss bullying. It is rampant at this school and nothing is done about it. My child suffered a broken bone on field trip caused by a bully but I did not find out about it until he returned home. The other child was not disciplined. Our child went to the administration on numerous occasions for help but they did nothing. If a child is from a "Clarksville" family they can do no wrong and teachers will protect them. The school does not offer an education any better than the local public schools. I've known numerous children who moved to local public schools and are much happier and challenged more than they were at CA. Children who go on to college from CA often struggle as they are actually forced to do work on their own. The school is only helpful for those who wish to stay in Clarksville as there is an almost incestuous relationship where having graduated from CA gives you an "in" with the local community. Again, I would point to the NUMEROUS reviews on this website that mention bullying. It is obviously an issue at CA that the administration chooses to ignore.

Clarksville Academy suffers from poor leadership from the top down. Classes are often unsupervised and students may go days at a time doing nothing but dressing up for different school sponsored days: twin day, character day, blue day, etc. The school is a joke. Think twice before subjecting your child to a school where the tuition is high and the instructor's education level low.

Very disappointed with this school. I advise all new parents to be aware that being the new kid at this school is not easy. It is a school where generations have come in, not only the children, but parent and grand parents all know each other. Your child will feel out of place and will suffer. Bulling takes place, nothing is ever done about it. Both my husband and I were very active and volunteers at the school. However, when we decided to take our child away, they threatened us with fulfilling the financial part of the contract. Very unacceptable, specially for a school. If your child is not happy and has been bullied at the school, there should be no questions.

I am terribly disappointed. The curricula appears to be several weeks behind the public school, the offerings are extremely limited, and the administrators have been less than mediocre (in our opinion). I wish I could go back in time and put my child in public school. Even my child wishes the same. Every year, it becomes more and more mediocre to us; less and less worth the money. We are hearing the same from other parents as well. I wish I had an undo button on this decision.

My family moved to Clarksville almost two years ago. Although we didn't know anyone, we immediately found a home at Clarksville Academy. The teachers truly care about the children and go above and beyond to make sure each child reaches their true potential. The teachers are always in contact with the parents and encourage parent participation. A wonderful education at a wonderful school - we love Clarksville Academy!

We've had a wonderful experience at Clarksville Academy. CA follows a strong curriculum which provides challenging material to prepare students for college and beyond. I especially like the integration of technology and Challenge Based Learning focus which helps students learn problem-solving and responsibility for the real world, as well as the welcoming "family" atmosphere with the CA teachers, parents, and students.

My children went to Clarksville Academy because we didn't have a variety of choices in Clarksville. Now that we are not longer living in Clarksville I realize how behind CA was in their curriculum and professional development with their teachers. This school will not prepare your children for the real world. It was NOT work the money.

How I wish Clarksville Academy had been around when I was going to school. This is an excellent school for parents who want their children to learn and grow in this community. The Clarksville public school system was adequate when I was going to school but after attending some of the public schools lately, it's almost terrifying to see the lack of respect the students have for their teachers, their peers and their community. How can they expect to learn in such an environment? While visiting Clarksville Academy you can see the students have a truly involved teaching staff and director. Not only are they being given a top-notch education but these students are learning in a terrific and nurturing environment. Kudos to Head of Schools Kay Drew. Under her leadership these students in her charge will become the next leaders of our community.

I am so proud I decided to send my children to this school. The amazing supportive coaches, staff & leaders go above and beyond, and have years of experience that show daily in everything they do. The teachers all truly understand what each child needs, teaching beyond the books to include learning honor & respect for others, as well as the community. It's worth every penny to know my children are in such an awesome environment that is preparing them for life. It's like one big family that looks out for one another & shares a common goal of higher expectations & standards. Recently being named an Apple Distinguished School is proof that the academic focus combined with technology, leadership & the arts is a great foundation & beautiful place to send your child.

This school is based on your socioeconomic status and nothing else. Bullying starts at a very YOUNG age and nothing is done to stop it. Administration doesn't step on toes to correct the problem because it might interfere with the next big donation. My youngest child has been pressured into drinking already by 3rd graders! The mind boggling thing is, the kids doing it ALL have parents that work at the school. Blows me away what these kids get away with. The football games, the young kids (same group of 3-5th) graders that their parents work or put money into school, have a game called "beat up" where they find a kid on playground and kick and beat them up until they get away. So sad! Many of these kids need manners taught to them but have no one at home to teach them. Education is better than public but it's a toss up if you want to deal with the rest of the stuff that goes on.

Clarksville Academy is a country club for rich kids. There are little consequences to any poor behavior, pretty much your kid will get away with anything if he/she has money. Not talking about bribes, but popularity and seniority is based on how rich you are. It is not even college prep, the only thing that resembles a college prep type school would be the atmosphere.. There is a lot of freedom. The work load is not college prepratory at all. It will however look good on an application to a college or internship but only because it is a private school. So if you are wanting how it looks rather than what you child actually learns, then by all means enroll them. There are man great teachers at CA, but the work load is not like it would be at college. The only reason I am giving CA 2 stars is because of half of the staff. There are always two sides, good and bad. Half the staff are money lovers and the other half are genuinely good people.
