DO NOT send your kid here As a former student/alum who attended here I’d stay away they call this school a “college prep school” but it isn’t a college prep school as they never prepared me for college. When I asked to be challenged more the administration denied it when other students who weren’t ready got this in the past. They claim this school is diverse but have issues with certain cultures here and occasionally kick out students after one semester here who weren't 100% ready. They underfund their athletic programs where you constantly go to meetings or they convince undersized kids to play. They force the phone pouch rule way over the top and threaten to charge students $10 a phone pouch if you don’t bring your phone to school. All the teachers here are horrible except 2 or 3. The administration was hard to work with the time I was there. If you’re a parent looking to put your kid in a good school don’t send them here even if they have a scholarship to go here. Save your money or spend more if you have to and put them in a better school. It’s sad to see how far this school fell off the map do to the awful administration here even many public schools are better than this place. I would NEVER send my kids here

Very bad bad school. We had a nearby shooting and school did not go under lockdown, administration doesn't care about their students, they truly only care about having your tuition dollars. When you apply to attend here they will make it seem like you matter but as soon as you are truly enrolled they completely forget about everything they promised. This school was a great school in the early 2000's and some of the 2010's. Hated it here and many of my peers did too. We all ended up transferring together to a different private high school that I will not disclose.

Unfortunately, in my opinion, the experience is not worth the tuition - even when reduced. We were recruited to play sports. After we switched, we found out playing time was political and lots of drama. We are withdrawing at the end of the year and going back to her friends.

Inexperienced teachers and lack of any leadership at this school really starting to show. I removed my child from this school after school leaders showed not moral compass and lack of care for the students. Stay away.

I have a Freshman at this school. I cannot be happier. My child is on the Principal's Honor role with Honors classes. As a side note, SFA - Saint Francis of Asissi is great for preparing kids for St. Benedict.

I graduated class of 2012 and I couldn't have been happier with the education I received there. Yes, some teachers are worthless, but you can't find a high school in America where there aren't a few bad eggs. I see some people said they didn't have homework...well they were either ignoring the homework or taking the lightest course load possible. I took honors classes and a couple AP's my senior year and had at least 2 hours of homework every night. My junior year I had a minimum of 3. SBA has so many great things to get involved in and the support the student body has for each other is incredible. I know I have made friends for life. At the time, I didn't think I was receiving an amazing education, but as soon as I came to college, I realized just how blessed I was to go to such a great school. Many of my classmates could not even write a simple paper in the MLA format, something I knew like the back of my hand when I left SBA. Similarly, my classmates also seemed to succumb to the pressure of the "workload." For me, their claims seemed preposterous. I give all the credit to SBA for my success in college. My only critique would be for better teachers in the math department.

I am currently a sophomore at St. Benedict and am about to go into my third year here. I'm surprised at some of the reviews calling it unorganized - the school is extremely organized, the teachers actually know what they're teaching, and the school uses a blend of technology and traditional teaching in the classroom. The library is fantastic and equipped with many computers for work at lunch or before and after school. The classes are not too large and even the biggest classes still have an allowance for one-on-one with the teacher. Several of the teachers I've had are willing to stay after school for HOURS to help students that are having a tough time. We have had a fantastic principal, though he is unfortunately leaving at the end of this school year. We have high hopes for an equally friendly and understanding principal next year. All in all, a FANTASTIC school; I attended St. Agnes (a much more expensive, 'high end' school) for two years and you couldn't pay me to leave St. Bens and go back to SAA!
