RUN! Do not just walk away from this place.

Dont lock yourself into a contract. As soon as the dog and pony show that you get on the tour is over, you will see who some of these people really are.

We moved our kids from public school believing it would be worth the investment to give them what we thought would be a Christian education. We deeply regret that decision.

Bullying was a significant issue for our family, and based on what we observed, it was worse than what we saw in public school. It felt like the administration tried as hard as they could to try and sweep it under the rug until it got undeniable.

Academically, the experience has been extremely disappointing. We are now seriously considering hiring tutors over the summer just to help them catch back up.

We paid the tuition, but would not recommend this school, even with a voucher.

Significant Concerns Do Thorough Research Before Enrolling

We were initially very impressed with the schools facilities. The campus presents well and made a strong first impression during our tour. Unfortunately, our experience after enrolling was very different.

We experienced ongoing concerns with leadership and communication. When issues were brought forward, we did not feel they were handled with the level of professionalism or accountability we expected. Conversations were purely defensive if not hostile rather than solution-focused.

Academically, we were disappointed with what appeared to be a heavy reliance on worksheets and independent assignments. We had hoped for more structured instruction and active teaching. This did not align with our expectations for the tuition being paid.

Horrible establishment. Went here K-12 and graduated not long ago, this school did everything but prepare me for college educationally and socially. Went to an SEC school after graduation and felt like I was drowning due to not being taught anything important in high school. Had Bible class twice while going here and felt like I learned nothing but lies and what they wanted me to know about religion. Do not send your kid here if you want them to academically achieve their goals.

Be sure you consider your familys political and religious views before enrolling them in this Christian school. There is no room for differences here
My 4th grader was asked by her teacher who the class was voting for during a presidential debate (first of all, what does a 4th grader really know other than what they hear their family discuss) about who they would vote for. My daughter was the only one who raised her hand for the democratic nominee, and every student laughed at her and acted horrified.
Secondly, my 7th grader was in a health class taught by a coach who showed the movie Not Without My Daughter (a movie about an Iranian man and his American wife who take their child to visit Iran and he doesnt let her out of the country). This was in a Health course. My husband happens to be Iranian and Im American. My daughter came home crying and it was obvious that the teacher singled her out. Not to mention this movie had no place in a Health class!

My experience at Facs has been absolutely wonderful. Both my kids and I feel incredibly at home here, and we have developed a deep love and appreciation for all the staff and faculty. I am grateful every day that I chose this school for my children; it provides a strong foundation in Christ rather than a worldly perspective.

FACS is a great school in the Memphis area that offers a Christ-focused education. Our children have attended for several years and they would agree it is a great place for their education. The band program and athletics are what my students enjoy the most. Both areas are led by qualified and great leaders. FACS is affordable and the faculty and staff are caring. We are grateful for the education our children receive at FACS!

FACS has been a blessing to our family. Our daughter has attended First Assembly Christian School for the past four years and will be graduating this May 2024. We're thankful for the investment each teacher, support staff, and administrator has had on our daughters life. Academics is solid as our daughter has been accepted to over 20 universities across this great nation. What impresses us the most is how the faculty sincerely care for the students. If you're searching for a school that truly cares about all aspects of your child's life then FACS is right for you! The term "family" fits!

I was very excited to refer parents to FACS only to realize later that what they present on paper is not who they really are. If you are looking for a true Christian education experience this may not be that school. They teach Christ but they do not demonstrate Christ. The administration and school leadership is very aloof and impersonal when it comes to dealing with parents. Many families of color leave the school after 1 to 2 years and many times its because of treatment from leadership.

People like to know what happens behind the scenes. Well, behind the scenes, all of the teachers work to make the school a great experience for the students and parents. We are a family and try to help each other overcome challenges with creative solutions. As our Head of School would say, "We try to make God famous." Teachers and coaches pour into the lives of the students and focus on making them well-rounded. It is not all one sided, we have an amazing PTF; seriously, the best in the country! The parents support the faculty and administration really well. We really are a family!

FACS is a Christ-centered private school with a wealth of extra-curricular offerings. We have been so thankful that we found FACS when we started our search for a private school years ago, and have loved being at the school. The teachers are well-qualified and caring, and classroom instruction is top notch. The athletics and fine arts department are some of the best in the Memphis area, and there is truly a sense of family and community at FACS, that is unlike any other school in Memphis.

FACS is a hidden jewel in Cordova, TN. We have 2 children at FACS, both started in JrK - one is graduating 2020 and other will graduate in 2025. FACS is truly an extended part of our family. Administration, teachers, and staff treat our children like their own. We feel confident that our children will be prepared for the next step in their educational journey once they leave FACS.

During the corona virus of 2020, we had to move to online/home schooling. All the teachers stepped up and put lessons and resources in place so that the kids were able to pick up and carry on their studies without skipping a beat! The teachers have done an awesome job of communicating during this very stressful and unusual time in our country!

During the corona virus of 2020, someone in administration personally called each family to check to see how things were going and to ask questions about how we as parents and students were dealing with all of the changes. They also asked what concerns we had. And...that very next day we received an email fro the headmaster addressing some of the concerns I brought up. Apparently, we were not the only ones. So I am extremely impressed at how well they communicated and immediately addressed concerns as a faculty and staff.

As of January 2020, FACS is under new administration. This administrator has a vision to take the school to the next level. I also cannot day enough about the schools spirit. The freshman class is about changing the culture and the teachers are equipping them to lead.My children attended FACS and I am thankful that my grandchild now attends. If you are looking for a school that cares about your child and holding them accountable, this is the place for you. Your child is not just a number, they are a part of a family!

The administrators are weak and possess no back-bone to uphold policies and purity. They deal with inappropriate behaviors with a namby-pamby position and do nothing to discipline poor behavior. Students get away with bullying and sexual harassment. The course of study is not impressive and the counselor is ineffective. She has limited knowledge of what is truly needed from a collegiate standpoint and misguides the students. She simply holds her position because her parents have attended the church for years and paid to have the log cabin on campus refurbished so her office could be in it. She has been asked on multiple occasions to produce a written recommended course of study for high schoolers to follow, but after years of requests, it still isn't done. She is impatient with students and parents, alike. While the elementary is fairly effective, the middle and high school needs an overhaul. I recommend moving your child once they reach 7th grade to a campus that will encourage your student to grow in academia as well as in character.

They send home a ton of homework. I thought this is why we pay for school, for our daughter to be taught at school. My husband has actually taught her more about math at home!

Our daughter started FACS in JrK. Started out fine, but has gradually gotten worse and worse. The teachers are below average. Some don't even have teaching degrees or licenses. The school is run by the church so if one attends church there, they are pretty much guaranteed a job, qualified or not. Doesn't matter!! The administration is old and out of date and they need to retire but they won't be fired because most attend church there. And any children who attend church there or have parents who teach there are given far more opportunities than the rest of the children. This school has not helped my daughter with math, she needs extra attention and has never gotten it. Her dad has actually helped her more and taught her more at home!! Every year the tuition has gone up and the quality of education has gone down! And don't get me started on bullying. I've had two friends who had to pull a son and a daughter because they were being bullied so badly and nothing was done! Both children were on the brink of having a nervous breakdown or committing suicide!! We will be pulling our daughter after this year. I just wish we'd left sooner. Please don't send your children here!! No!! It may start off ok but I promise it gets worse and worse!!

My daughter was told by a classmate that she could not play with the other kids but she can clean-up after they are finished. My daughter was the ONLY Brown girl in the class. I spoke with the Teacher she tried to push it under the rug. The very next day, The Teacher sent home a note in Red telling me how my daughter's habits are horrible! I agreed with her that she does have some bad habits( I.e. Not putting her name on her paper) but the list she gave me was a bit much. I thought about it...she was trying to get me uncomfortable so I can move my child. She saw us as a problem because I told her about the little racism comment. My child is in the 2nd grade. There is no diversity at this school. I didn't see any Teachers that was of any other ethnicity than White. The only Black people I saw were cleaning the school! Maybe, that is why the little girl thought my daughter was in line to do the same. My oldest daughter attends Braircrest and her school is nothing like FACS! This is my experience at FACS. I am very disappointed, I had such high hopes!!

Unfortunately, some individuals find it necessary to slander FACS, and probably other schools as well. After sending our children to FACS for 11 years, I find many of the comments less than authentic, sometimes comical and definitely not based on facts. All of our children excel academically and our oldest child will be graduating with a 4.6 GPA. She will also be attending the university of her choice with a full academic scholarship. As a whole, the staff is exceptional and the Christ like environment is tremendous. The "in crowd" at FACS is thankfully the Jesus crowd. Some individuals will always find something to complain about but the facts speak for themselves. FACS offers a superb learning environment!!!

Most teachers are not qualified to be teaching. As long as you are a Christian, and have a high school diploma, you will be considered as a qualified teacher at FACS.

I was raised in the church, and gradually came to the conclusion that it is silly for anyone to believe that we as human beings can understand anything on a celestial level. That aside, if all that you want is to be sure that your child believes the same Christian ideologies as you do, there is a good chance this school will satisfy your needs. If you want your child to truly be prepared for the real world with a quality education, you will want to keep looking. I spent 5 years at the school and finished my education at a local high school. Upon arriving at my new school, I immediately realized that the curriculum of the local public school was far advanced from where I left off at FACS, and my freshman year in college, again I felt ill prepared by my education gained at FACS. To sum it up, FACS May be able to brain wash your child (didn't work on me), but will not prepare them for the real world. I would keep looking if I were you.

This past year was our son's first year at FACS, and I can't say enough good things about our experience. Before attending FACS, our son attended another local faith-based private school from Kindergarten through 4th grade. We had a horrible experience at that school (for too many reasons to list here), and our son dreaded going to class each day. This year at FACS has been a stark (and very welcome) contrast. He has returned to his love of learning, has made great friends very quickly, and has excelled in every way. So I would be happy to recommend FACS to anyone. And to the reviewer who said that s/he is surprised that the school is still in business, you apparently haven't been paying attention to the fact that the school's enrollment has continued to increase each year - unlike some of the other local private schools. Apparently enough people have concluded that the school is doing something right.

I highly recommend you DO NOT send your child to FACS. I am surprised they are still in business. The administrators are weak and without a vision for making FACS a great school. The administrators also "bully" students into attending school functions. The teachers are unable to maintain discipline in their classrooms, are umnable to teach with enthusiasm and appear to be very disinterested in teaching.

I have been attending FACS since I was in Pre-K and am now a Junior and I have nothing but good things to say about my school. The teachers genuinely care about each student regardless of academic level or background. Any student that says they don't learn anything or that the teachers don't teach probably doesn't want to learn anything and doesn't pay attention. FACS offers education for every student at any academic level. Not only does the administration care about our academic experience but they also care about our relationship with God, which is a great plus. Being a Student Ambassador for three years, I have had the opportunity to hear and see how much the administration loves and cares for the student body. The only thing I would like to see change at FACS is the attitude some of the students have toward the school. The students who take the time to get involved and make friends with the right people will learn to love and appreciate everything FACS has to offer. I am so grateful God has given me the opportunity to attend such an amazing school for so long!

My daughter started at FACS as a Freshman after 3 years in another area private school. She is so happy and has grown as a person and as a student since she's been at FACS. We also have a toddler and will definitely send him to FACS. Love the school, Love the teachers, Love the students!!

As a Graduate of FACS, I recommend this school for any student (PreK-12) regardless of previous educational backgrounds. I graduated 5 years ago, and have noticed the recent increase in student enrollment, which is of no surprise to me as FACS continues to excel in providing a well-rounded Education and Above-Average preparation for life after graduation. - Satisfied Alumnus

I am so enjoying working at FACS. The teachers really care about the students. They help every child (not just the smart or easy to teach kids). The academically smarter kids are challenged without losing focus on the other students. Every student is important. With all of the hardships that students face today at home, it is nice to work in a school that really cares and takes time to listen and help every student.
