Stay away from FCPS. They refuse to fire bad staff, including bus drivers. They took 9 months to start an IEP and failed to maintain it properly. This school is a joke and so far (2023-24). I have nothing good to say about Fayette County Public Schools.

My daughter loves WJHS! The teachers and the staff really care about the students. Under the new leadership, this school is on its way to being 5 stars.

This school has so much to offer to students, such as STAR classes for advanced learning, STEM, and the addition of the Pentathlon competition this year. There are so many opportunities for students!

West Jr. High is a pretty decent school compared to others I've seen. I do believe the principle could tone down caring about the dress code, and think about education instead. Otherwise, it is a great school.

okay heres the deal,, Im a senior at West and i know that the staff is too strict about the dress code. BUT i mean for crying out loud we are not going to do anything.Anything dangerous at least.AND 2nd of all the principal yells too much it doesnt make sense. And the teachers need to straighten up,especially the language arts ones. and THE ALGEBRA TEACHER needs to teach his students differently. OR theyre gonna fail on the EOC.Last but not least, the security guard needs to stop making people TUCK IN THEIR SHIRT. ITS STUPID!!!!!!!! I'VE been going to west for 3 years its time for A MAJOR CHANGE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!WAKE UP WEST WE NEED TO COME UP!!

The principal follows-through on the rules, makes himself available to the parents, follows-up on any concerns that I present to him. I highly recommend the principal. He is always in the hallways, the lunchroom, the open house, etc. The office staff know the parents by name and make parents feel welcome. HOWEVER, the kids who attend this school have the foulest of foul language. I have been pleased with the teachers and principal and disappointed with the character of the children who attend the school. The math teacher is excellent.

This is a wonderful school with an expanding math program. The writing my child does is phenomenal with great feedback from his teachers. Compared to the local private school, this school is head and shoulders above it, particularly with regard to writing skills. Opportunites are available for students to excel if they choose to follow through. Any issues that have come up have been addressed promptly and fairly by the principal. The new superintendent of schools has made a big difference with an even stronger academic focus, striving to achieve maximum gains for our children.

Since close observation of this school for one full year. I do not believe these scores are accurate. I also believe that the score are a bit altered to make grade. Parents who continue to send there child/children there and have a child whos potential is limiteed because of the low performance of this school should know there rights and push them.**read this article and know your rights~ good information. http://www.greatschools.org/find-a-school/school-visit/the-achievement-gap-is-your-school-helping-all-students-succeed.gs?content=35&cpn=20100622MSS (copy & paste or go to Great schools home page, clock on Academics & activities, then in the search enguine~ The Achievment Gap.
