I just finished 8th grade at Croft. My experience was very fun and I think the teachers do the best they can to teach us. If youre actually there to learn then you should be getting good grades. The eighth grade teachers are so nice and supportive. I feel like I could talk to them about anything. The school tries their best to give the students punishments and teachers also try their best to get the students to listen. Most of the students listen but some of them just try to be difficult and dont care. But thats like a couple students the rest are great and listen. My time at croft I made great friends and had so much fun. The school lunch isnt that bad. I ate it the whole year and only some of the things were gross, but most of the time it was good and I would eat it. Overall, I had a great time at Croft and had a good learning experience!

this school is practically a joke. the food is disgusting (and disgusting is an understatement!), the kids are violent, the teachers are unfair and make it hard to even want to learn, they tolerate bullying and harassment, etc. a kid threatened to bomb the school a year ago. the special education kids are bullied, its just all around a bad school.

I see what other people have said about Croft but this has not been my experience. Teachers nurtured and supported me all the years at Croft. They have high expectations but support you along the way. Yes, some students dont behave but they are dealt with swiftly. Teachers and admin are doing all they can. Sometimes its the parents that dont support. Croft is a great place to be.

As a student, this school is positively awful. Bullying is completely ignored. Many of my friends have received death threats and threats of a similar nature. Teachers barely treat the mentally disabled with the deserved about of respect. Teachers also barely accommodate different learning styles. If I didnt have my social circle, I would leave in a heartbeat.

After previously giving this school a great review, we have had a completely different experience at Croft. My main objective for writing this post is to agree with and back up a recent review I saw posted by a student, as I feel student reviews are not always taken seriously. The students perception on bullying and teacher/admin response to the behavior problems is spot on! We recently pulled our son out of the school as it was just beyond anything we could deal with any longer. Of course, with any school, there were a few great teachers who really did try to do what was in their power to rectify situations, but two of those teachers we considered to be among the most effective, have since moved to other schools within the district. I am also sure it works for some kids...just like any school could. It just did not work at all for our child and I know countless others who experienced the same issues with bullying, lack of response to behavior issues, lack of leadership, and apathy from staff. It was almost as if there were a few kids who could do just about anything and see zero consequence because they were seen as "popular" by teachers. That is appalling and not at all an adult like response to middle school behaviors. Middle school aged children are built to try certain undesirable behaviors and push boundaries...that is what this age is for.
When teachers don't have leveled, unbiased responses to ALL the children you will see those behaviors fester and become worse instead of watching kids have opportunities to learn from their inevitable negative behaviors. Again, my main purpose here is to make sure and give a parent's perspective that mirrors the recent student review so that readers can take that review more to heart before considering this school for their child. Parents, listen to your children! They are wiser than you think.

I dislike the school, kids bully other kids... No one seems to be happy. I am disappointed with the lack of discipline. The teachers cant seem to teach the children with all the chaos. I highly recommend not attending this school. The school isnt what you think it is including they say they have clubs which is a lie. They state that all the kids work together happily, also not true. Instead they fight over silly things. There is a obvious reason why this school has a 3 out of 10.

The students bully other students every day and the teachers do not help the victims.

Croft acts like a great school but it isnt. Almost everything there is a lie... The teachers can not control the behavioral problems and students get bullied there everyday. I have experienced bullying on several occasions and so have the few friends I have. I get not everything can be perfect but the administration and teachers arent trying to help one bit. The problems there get worse everyday. Almost all my friends have moved out to private schools, tutorials, co-ops, or even Oliver Middle School. Many of the things they promote are not true. The school claims they do clubs which only meet about 4 times a year. The state they helps victims of bullies, but instead they make the problem worse. When it comes to punishing the students who get into trouble they punish the grade as a whole and the good students get lectured for nothing they did. They also say students work in harmony which isnt true at all. Instead being together causes a bit of a Civil War. As have gone through this school 3 years and after summer wrapping up the last year, Ive come home multiple days tired, burned out, upset, and alone. I feel like I have no friends and when I started at Croft I was a leader and extrovert. Over the years at Croft, I have become closed off, quiet, and introverted. The only thing I experienced that I enjoyed at Croft was the sports. If you want to go to a school with sports, Croft is good. But be careful before you get run off by everything else. Many students you will ask say they love it but it isnt true. The teachers talk to and praise the popular kids which tend to be the bullies or out of control kids. Not always, but usually this is the case and sometimes they just dont tell the truth because they are scared. This school isnt as good as it seems. You cant have everything in a school... but Croft could try a little harder. There is a reason this school has a 3 out of 10 stars. I would honestly rate it 2 out of 10 stars. Dont waste your time. I highly advise you to send your children to another school. Thats all I have and hopefully my last year at Croft is better than the first 3 years.

My children have thoroughly enjoyed their experiences & learning at Croft Middle. I requested a special transfer for my children to attend this school due to our address being zoned to attend McMurray Middle. Several years ago I pulled my son out of McMurray due to a severe bullying issue with several children that was continuous & unrelenting. The problems arise with staff not being able to control the issues due to the kids being too afraid of telling anyone for fear of repercussions which makes bullying a never ending cycle. At the time my son was of smaller stature than most boys his age which caused him to experience the cruel nature of bullying. Once my son started attending Croft he was a different kid, his grades were back to A's, he had a positive attitude, more self-confidence, he got involved with sports & excelled, he made many friends & I finally saw the smile on his face again that had been gone too long. I never heard one complaint from him regarding a teacher, staff member or student.
Croft Middle turned out to be a blessing for him & he flourished academically. Now he's a Freshman in college & doing great and my daughter is now currently enrolled in Croft & she's happy & doing well. I honestly cannot think of one negative comment. If I could change just one thing, I would have the car rider drop off line move a bit quicker in the mornings & I'd do that by having both car lanes open for drop off rather than only one. But that's my only complaint & I can live with that. I would recommend this school to anyone. I've been inside the school many times & I cannot recall ever seeing an unhappy student. Great teachers, nothing but positive experiences! An all around awesome school!

We absolutely love supporting our neighborhood school Croft!! It is a well-rounded school that allows our kids to be kids, while still challenging them. We have advanced academics, athletics, and related arts, all of which my son is involved in. The teachers and leadership listen to parents and students alike which is very rare and refreshing. In metro, we have the option of going to several different schools but I couldn't imagine going anywhere but Croft.

We transferred to this school after 3 years at a nearby charter school. It has been a wonderful environment for my son. They are allowed some age appropriate freedoms that he hadn't previously experienced in a school setting. I am happy that he has the opportunity to participate in the Cambridge program and be challenged by the higher level courses it offers. My son actually stated in the past few days that he didn't mind going to school anymore and it shows in his attitude.

We were accepted to go to a charter school in the area but decided to tour Croft. We are so glad we decided to go to Croft. The principals, teachers and staff are amazing. We are not involved in the music program but have heard it is great. They are starting the Cambridge program and we are really excited. We love how much the zoo is involved with the school. This school embraces the diversity of Nashville. We are proud of being a part of the zoo school. We think this is the best middle school in Nashville!

This School is great!! I love that we are pen partners is Libscomb and that we are so close to the zoo that we can walk there and get in for free... We had excellent teachers that work their heart and soul for these kids. I know that one of the teacher went to Vanderbuilt, but then retired this year. She was a great teacher. This is a great school for all kids. This school also has lots of races here, so then other students can get used to speaking and hanging out with these students. I love this school and you should too.

This school is awsome they are fun and the teaching is perfect well atleast for me and the orchestra sounds beautiful espcially 7-8grade.THIS school is just one of the best schools I've ever been to!

For the most part we have been happy with Croft. The music program is outstanding and the partnership with the zoo is a great extra resource. I am disappointed that there are no longer advanced classes, especially since Croft still claims that they have them on their website.

Our school is awesome! We have the best band and orchestra program in Metro (and possibly anywhere!). Our teachers are very dedicated, spending quality hours preparing fun lessons that are reflected in our test scores. Our administrators are constantly working toward helping our teachers and students achieve more. Our partnership with the Nashville Zoo is unique and definitely one of the highlights for our students. Our 8th graders have the opportunity to participate in a science engineering class that interacts with the environment. We host an in-house TV studio, WCMS, that leads the announcements every morning, and we have a newspaper staff that also maintains a website for the students. Our school website is up to date and keeps parents informed. I am privileged to be a member of the Croft faculty and I want to shout to all that we are a quality middle school with high standards! We expect all students to succeed and we make sure they feel a part of our community. We invite anyone to come by at any time and visit. Come check us out!

Parents should definately send their kids to our school:)
