This school is a joke for education. It does not involve the parents or listen to feedback. They ban parents from going to their only child's graduation. They did not want to accommodate for the disabled. Joe Welch is worthless. He refuses to answer questions.

The school is a joke they give out information to non-parent/guardian. I do have screen prints of this. It is sad the lack of leadership and values.

The school does not follow the TN State Parenting Plan. They gave access to my child's information to a third party and revoked mine. Here is one example as I was trying to fight to get my Power School reinstated. It should also be noted I am disabled and used Power School to have my child's grades emailed to me. Their response was my email account doesn't work. Then I get an email asking for money. What I joke. I can produce everything I have written. The following right I had deprived:

Under T.C.A. § 36-6-101 of Tennessee law, both parents
are entitled to the following rights:

(4) The right to receive directly from the child's
school any educational records
customarily made available to parents. Upon
request from one parent, the parent enrolling the
child in school shall provide to the other parent
as soon as available each academic year the
name, address, telephone number and other
contact information for the school. In the case of
children who are being homeschooled, the
parent providing the homeschooling shall advise
the other parent of this fact along with the
contact information of any sponsoring entity or
other entity involved in the child's education,
including access to any individual student
records or grades available online. The school
or homeschooling entity shall be responsible,
upon request, to provide to each parent records
customarily made available to parents. The
school may require a written request which
includes a current mailing address and may

further require payment of the reasonable costs
of duplicating such records. These records
include copies of the child's report cards,
attendance records, names of teachers, class
schedules, and standardized test scores

If you are in standard classes, little is expected. If you are in AP classes, more work than can be completed in an evening is given. No balance.

Cheating is huge issue at AHS! Some of the top students are known to cheat on a regular basis.

Guidance department is TERRIBLE! No personal concern or help for your students! Student committed suicide and Board will not consider exhaustion from early start time or overload from AP classes as factor affecting mental health of students! School administration dictates outcome for Spec. Ed and 504 evaluations. School routinely fails to follow proper procedures at expense of students.

I recently transferred to AHS from a small religious school, here is my "new student" experience: The students are mostly white upper-middle class, there is a strong "preppy" social group, as well a good-size band group and a decent-size "church kid" group. AHS is very racially segregated: the African-American students sit in one corner of the lunch room and the white kids sit everywhere else. Racial slurs and inappropriate language are VERY common. A segment of the student population is heavily involved in the school, but a majority couldn't care less about AHS. Academically, I would highly recommend taking mostly honors and AP classes. Standard classes generally have the bad teachers and students who don't care. Because the school curves GPAs, taking honors/AP classes shouldn't hurt your GPA if you put in effort. My experience with the guidance department was a poor one. The counselor did not spend much time with me and I was placed in mostly standard classes even when I asked for honors (the promise to move me up if I did well in standard was never fulfilled). All in all, AHS is a good school, but make sure to take upper-level classes and get involved in a club/sport/etc!

Our daughter is a sophomore at Arlington and we could not be happier. The teachers that we have encountered seemed genuinely interested in her studies. The teachers do an outstanding job of keeping her attention and she seems to truly enjoy learning from them. we would highly recommend Arlington High School to anyone who is considering.

Our daughter transferred has a senior and her grades have never been better, we love the academic campus atmosphere and the college bound approach to her curriculum, having lunch outside also gives the students the freedom to take a break and accept responsibility with those privileges, great school we all love it! Staff has always shown accountability and genuine interest in them doing well!

My daughter is a Sophmore at AHS. We love it, the teachers are really great and are very concerned about their students academic welfare. Would highly recommend the school!!
