(Former employee) This is one of the worst ran schools in Memphis. The principal (Fleming) is very dismissive and disrespectful towards certain staff/students. This principal doesnt support from office when parents/guardians enter the building being utterly disrespectful and when one stands up for themselves they are the issue. She also suspends staff without notifying parents/enter the information into PowerSchool, which is falsifying documents. I suggest steer clear of this school if possible.

this is a awesome school principal Dr Monica Fleming is a very great principal the teachers pay attention my child makes very good grades in alegbra 1 love this school i would definitely recommend teachers do their job very well !

i do not recommended this school because it is honestly the worst middle school u can put your kids in and they do not deserve the slavery treatment they're getting from these teachers and the way they treats their students. it honestly also looks like a boarding school and the rules are just not it . like getting write up for zipping up your jacket in the winter time.

I wouldnt recommend this school.! They are very unprofessional her. The principal dont know how to do her job. They dont follow no type of rules. They let da kids run da school basically.. The principal act like she the kids friend and not they principal.. They bully kids at dis school and none is done about it. If u can prevent from sending yours kids here please do. I hate this school.The principal is very disrespectful and unprofessional and dont know how to do her job they really need a new principal. The office staff are nice.

This school is very extra. They make rules that they dont even follow. The teachers are very disrespectful. The locker situation doesnt make sense. Like every school in America, they put 150+ students in one room and expect everybodys mouths to be closed. As a student , I really dont recommend this school.

If I had to be completely honest I wouldnt recommend this school if you had other options. Some people consider this a school a great school but its fair from it. Ive been going to this school since 6th grade and Im about to head to the 8th. Most of the teachers here dont care or want to quit their jobs. They dont care about how you feel and only care if you pass the test and if you dont your labeled as a lost cause. You rarely get homework at all so for the students thats good. There are fights constantly and it seems like the administration doesnt do anything to prevent it. The students are rude and violent so its like your walking on eggshells 24/7. If you dont fit into the mold your a target for bullying. Overall this is a place you dont want to be if you cant handle the heat.

i just graduated last year from them and they failed me about 2 times just to keep me there and i did not like that but they just do to much like the the only grade i like was 8th grade year and i liked that but they just failed me in 7th grade 2 times for no reson like i don't know but i go to southwind now so i'm happy im out that school

Don't respond to calls or emails. They talk down to the children. The women teachers are the worst. They all hate their job and take it out on the kids.

It's awful really really awful. The most rude, obnoxious, abysmal school I ever been to. Good lord and I thought highland oaks elementary was bad, this is just awful!

This is a wonderful school. They promote higher education for students beginning with 6th grade. The teachers are caring and work tirelessly with students and parents to improve learning; frequently staying after school and having tutoring on Saturdays. The Principal, Ms. Bates and as well as the rest of the administration avail themselves to the needs of students and adjust their schedules to meet with parents as needed. I wish more schools in the district were like this one.

Highland oak middle is a decent school.Some teacher's are there to teach and some are there for a pay check only!My daughter stated one of her teacher's said, it doesn't matter if the kids keep talking , he's still getting paid, he's going to get his money regardless. Also most of the woman in the school have bad attitudes. I'm so thrilled my child is leaving this school. my 7th grader is leaving as well,We actually decided to move just to keep her from having to return, So far i've only met a hand full of teachers in this school=Highlandoaks middle that are genuine and sincere. For the rest of them sad sad case. oh their bullying policy sucks.If a student hits you, the child is to do nothing but tell the teacher.THEIR POLICY IS TO LET SOMEONE ELSE SPEAK UP FOR YOU. SO I GUESS IF NO ONE EVER SPEAKS UP FOR THE CHILD THAT'S GETTING BULLIED, THEN HE KILLS HIS SELF! All i'm saying is they should take bulling more serious! They also make the kids walk in a line from class to class.They have to stay on the blocks.I understand about keeping order however its middle school not kindergarten. Since they cut the bus routes the car rider lines are even longer. uniforms soon.
