My experience at St.Francis was absolutely amazing everyone is really welcoming no matter the race they are all super sweet, every teacher in that school is amazing they all care about you and listen to you. St. Francis of Assisi is also a very safe place and everyone is treated equally.They care about your well being and ever teacher and faculty always have a smile on there face. They make you feel interested in learning and also make you excited to get up in the morning yes there are strict teachers but later on you realize they were just trying to help you at the moment you don’t realize it until later.I personally LOVE SFA

The teachers are white and clicky. Their kids go to this school. So they defend those that are their kids' friends. The person in charge of discipline will bully those that are not friends with her kids.

You wonder why minority parents are pulling their kids from this school. The disciplinary person in charge will only defend white kids who are friends with her own kids. They will coverup bullying!

I would save your money and look at other municipal schools in the area. The tuition keeps going up with hidden fees, but you will not get the education that you pay for. Save money for college. Ask them what is their growth rate for the last five years? Why they cannot retain minorities? What is their accomplishments besides the Blue Bibbon status? PLTW Gateway is a great program. They cannot figure out how to implement it and is using it as a marketing tool again.

The teachers at any Catholic school are exceptional. The fact that they are earning $20,000 less than your average public school, makes them exceptional people. They are there out of their love of Christ, their love of children and subject, and living out that example by being there. SFA teachers, administrators, and support staff especially are exceptional; most have graduate degrees, 10+ years experience, in addition to hours upon hours of professional development per year (some at their own cost and ALL on their own time, giving up Saturdays, summer hours) to keep up with differentiated learning techniques, new technology, STEM, and collaborative learning. Every teacher genuinely cares about each child, on a personal level and on a student level. No child gets left behind or falls through the cracks. Emails, group conferences, interim reports, phone calls, real-time online grading are all the different ways parents are kept in the know about their child. There are no surprises and no stone left unturned in their outreach and desire to make sure each child succeeds!
SFA teachers and the challenging curriculum have turned out valedictorians and salutatorians at EVERY top private high school in the city; CBHS, SAA, St. Mary's, SBA.

The new administration is phenomenal! Always approachable, friendly, helpful and accessible!! They are doing WONDERFUL things to turn this from a great, blue ribbon school to an OUTSTANDING school.

In traditional or PLUS, differentiated learning is found. Students learn in many different ways and the teachers work hard to cater their lessons to every type of learner.

They like to mention their "blue ribbon" status, but it seems those days have passed them by. Complacency brought a good school down to earth. As far as I can tell, nothing but religion separates it from the other schools in the area anymore.

Disappointed with teachers reaction to bullying. My child has complained about bullies before, but nothing gets done. Maybe the teachers need stiffer disciplinary options.

Like may reviewers said. This is a good school if you think your kids need to receive catholic education. However, we found the school is weak in STEM program. School administration does not like negative opinion of the school, and so do the parents. Instead of working together to make the school competive in STEM, they prefer "group hug". As a result, you will find more positive reviews from parents and community members from the school. Honest assessment of the school is almost non-exisitent. In my opinion, this is not the right school for STEM. However, it is a great school for Plus program and catholic education.

To the gentleman who posted about not knowing about early dismissals, the school does have a calendar on their website as well as weekly emails, Monday mail, posting that weeks' schedule. You need to contact the school to get on the mailing list or use the calendar link on the website.

The best parochial school in the city, and it's not even close. We have had children at SFA, St Louis and Holy Rosary, and SFA is, by far, the best of the three.

This is by far the best school in Memphis. I am a child and family therapist so I am very picky bout where my kids go to school. Down to earth kids, minimal bullying, involved but not cliquey parents, and superb curriculum!

This is why I sent my kids here. I heard of awful bullying at other private schools. There is actually at least 4 kids that I know of that switched to St Francis from other schools specifically because the bullying was so bad at other places.

They have an option for kids when they are fast learners so they don't get bored, an option for those slightly struggling, and one with more severe problems.

I cannot be happier with this school. We came from Harding Academy. My middle school child learned nothing there. He learned six years of English in one with an amazing teacher. He is now taking Honors Classes at St. Benedict. This school has prepared him well for High School. He has managed to be on the Principal's Honor Role. My other child has learned great time management skills and to be conscientious from his wonderful teacher. He is also a straight A student. Harding Academy thought that he would have issues at school. I guess Saint Francis has proven Harding wrong. Not to bash Harding Academy, but we should have switched schools a while back.

We moved to SFA 4 years ago from another Catholic School in Memphis and love this school! The teachers are caring and compassionate and the curriculum is top notch. My children are pushed to their limits but in a very positive way. The school and leadership are very progressive and each year improvements are made for the betterment of the students. We love the size of SFA as well. Our former school was very small (1 class per grade with roughly 12 kids per class) and we found social activities were very limited. At SFA, there is roughly 100 students per grade with endless social opportunities, clubs, sports, etc.. Overall we as parents are extremely pleased with the academics, and my children couldn't be any happier. We highly recommend this school!

I have 4 kids at the school and I have no idea what the person who said the school is strict and bad is talking about. The school is willing to work with through just about any struggle, and they have hundreds of special programs, events, and activities that keep my kids busy. The staff is awesome and I have not had any of my kids (and trust me they can push some teachers) come home and say the teacher or staff is to strict. Anyways, the school is awesome and fun and not having ever done a private school before I was concerned about the cost - but after seeing the difference and the extra attention they get, it is worth every penny.

My daughter is in the 7th grade and has been going to St. Francis since Kindergarten. She has had a wonderful experience there, with great teachers, staff and administrators. We have found it to be a very nurturing environment.

We have 4 children at this school and this is our 9th year at SFA. Our children are receiving an excellent education. The teachers and faculty are very caring and the atmosphere is one of excited children ready to learn new things. I love the level of parent involvement in all aspects of school. We couldn't have chosen a better school for our children!!

I have 3 children at St. Francis and we have been a part of the SFA family for 7 years now. I have nothing negative to say about this school. The level of education my children receive is top notch. The teachers and faculty are always approachable and open to my input and concerns. It is a school where my children are challenged academically, nourished spiritually and where they feel safe and at home. We love SFA!

We have been a part of St. Francis School for 4 years now and came from an Optional School. We are pleasantly surprised how academically challenged my children are at St. Francis. The teachers are so nice and always are an advocate for my children. If there is ever a concern or issue, the teachers are quick to help the student and parents! St. Francis has a multitude of extracurricular activities available to my kids and they enjoy them all from golf to robotics to Math Counts, and soccer! My son enters high school next year, and already is preparing for high school through the excellent High School Prep class that is offered to 8th graders. Highly recommend this school!!

My daughter transferred to SFA from another school 3 years ago. This year she is in the 8th grade. SFA is the best school around. I have witnessed the caring and compassion the faculty and staff have towards the students and parents. As parents, we know our daughter will be more than prepared for high school next year. Yes, SFA is strict and that is why the school is so highly regarded academically locally and nationally. Every year we don't think the school can get any better and it does. This year mac books were introduced and group projects with the mac books. SFA is an awesome school and would highly recommend this school to anyone! Schedule a tour and see for yourself.

We have been at St. Francis (SFA) for six years and I have four children attending the school this year from PreK to 7th grade. The school has such a loving atmosphere and I know my children are in a place where they are nourished educationally, spiritually, and emotionally. The teachers and administration are wonderful and always responsive to both my needs and those of my children. Parent participation opportunities are plentiful. On a daily basis, you will find parents throughout the school--some reading to a class, others helping during lunch. For our family, SFA is an extension of our home and we are proud to be apart of the SFA Family.
