East end prep has a great curriculum and teachers. They also focus on social emotional learning. Kids are allowed to have fun and have hands on experiences. They also push great learning.

I have a child that has been at East End Prep ever since the 2nd grade. They endured PLENTY!!! of abuse throughout their years at EEP. Some of the examples of abuse is:
. Lack of lunch food
.Not being allowed to go to the bathroom when needed
.Stressing their scholars out
.Overload of school work
.No help being provided when needed
That's not even all theirs also plenty of bullying that my child has been through and has caused her plenty of issues. I would go into depth but this is all for today. East end prep staff, administrator's, , and teachers I would like to say yall have provided a horrible experience for me and my daughter and have created horrible events that will cause scar's in her lifetime. I don't even know why EEP is a "great school" they should shut it DOWN!. Thank you for your time

I am an associate teacher at EEP and it has been an amazing school to be apart of! The administration from the top down is phenomenal-- they deeply care about the staff and students. Teachers/admin go above and beyond to prepare and for their students learning and education. We as teachers are also constantly learning and evolving to be better through weekly professional development trainings and weekly coachings.

EEP is a school that focuses on academic excellence and strength of character. EEP has high standards for learning, homework and participation.

If you are interested in sending your child here, take a tour and ask all the questions! I would not recommend this place if I didn't think it was a great school!

I personally am not fond that they "grade" the homework after a week. They provide a packet and just check it off if it's completed. I think its inefficient. How would you know if a student is struggling with a certain topic on time? I think the homework regime can be completely different where it's helpful for both teacher and student.

The teachers positive attitudes help with learning which is great. The actual material and methods that they teach falls flat. But the teachers themselves are great for the most part.

This school has so much POTENTIAL. I completely dislike how the school is ran. I can start off the the dropping kids off and picking them up process. You only have 15 minutes to drop off your child before they're considered late which is ridiculous. RIDICULOUS. I can go on about it but I have plenty of other topics to hit. The picking up, is equally as bad. Either your in the school's property waiting for 30+ minutes or you're trapped in the streets causing traffic in the middle of the road. I can't say this enough, it's potentially dangerous. Something honestly needs to be done about that. Apparently they have been trying to cut down buses, which is inconvenient. You stress about students attendance and tardiness yet you're killing off helpful transportation??? Where's the logic in that??? Now to the fun part.. the teachers are cool. The methods they teach is not. Helping my daughter with math homework got increasingly difficult since they have probably the most ridiculous way of solving them and them needing to show their work the way they were taught. Yeah, I've never ran into this problem while my daughter was attending school in Illinois. But the schools out there are 30x better. Going back, I lose my mind over "Sight Words". First of all, what? Why? And what, again? Are they commonly used words??? No. They're just RANDOM words for them to learn. So why is my daughter stressed to learn these words when she can learn the number words, words that she uses everyday, words that she commonly sees in the stories she reads? I can go on but I'll stop there yet again. There is a lack of extracurricular activities for kids younger than a certain grade level which is kind of unfair. I understand there won't be any for kindergarteners but 1st grade and up? Yeah, unacceptable. Strong communication skills can be taught during that time as well as more discipline (where they have to follow a different set of rules), and they get to express themselves and truly enjoy their school and what it has to offer. Parents are not encouraged to stop in and see what their child is up to because "it'll disturb the learning process". They're not encouraged to partake in anything school related. There's no class holiday parties, there's no bring the whole class a snack and see how you can help out the teacher with any grading, or maintaining the classroom. But you get the gist.

My child hasn't had a problem with bullying but, because of the great leadership this school has, bullying doesn't seem to be an issue.

The children are challenged and because of this, they're getting the help that they need. At least for my child who does not have an issue with learning. She's been at this school since K, was promoted to the 2nd grade and is excelling very well.

They masked children feel bad because they give out 1000 demerits a day but VERY few merits. They put ENTIRELY too much pressure on children

All this school does is tell you that kids will be kids. Whether it is lunch room segregation, stealing school supplies, or destruction of property between children they will not take any actions.

I wish I would have had my children attend a different school. Choices for middle school are limited and I based a decision of the Great Schools Rating but it is not a great school. They have a merit/demerit system but they rarely give merits and only make children feel bad about themselves. Demerits are given but do not always inform the child of negative behavior so when it continues they just keep marking them down and give no opportunity for the child to correct it.

The homework is often the same as they did in class. Every single Social Studies worksheet my children have brought home have had grammatical errors to include simple homophones which young children have not yet mastered to figure out what the teacher meant. Because at young ages they read what is there, not what should be there.

The teachers are unable to adjust any curriculum to address different learning styles within the children. They teach for the test only and do not actually care if the child is learning or not.

This school develops students through fear and negative reinforcement. They teach citizenship but they absolutely do not enforce it.

The administrative leadership refuses to interact with concerned parents and they have the 'citizen coach' call you. It's discouraging and they seem to care very little about the welfare of the children.

Disabilities within learning are identified in TN yet the school just groups children together without taking this into consideration greatly limiting any possibility for improvement.

Most parents are for character education, but through positive-reinforcement methods. This school using negative reinforcement methods and expects children to act like mini-adults and if they do not comply they are taken out of the classroom, for minor offenses, away from learning. If the teacher sends them out of the classroom twice in one day, parents should expect a call from the school to come and pick up their child for a one or more day suspension.

The leader of school, who has gone from principal to director, over the course of 7 or so years, seems more interested in keeping up appearances and his own self-promotion than supporting the needs of his students/families. If you disagree with leadership, the leader will and have the teachers, take it out on your child, sometime at a very personal and inappropriate level. And, almost all communication and academic support for your child ceases, even to the point where the school will repeatedly suspend your child for unjustified reasons to the point the child, in a grade as young as kindergarten, begins to not like school. Despite the school's on-the-surface mantra that they believe every one of their "scholars", as they are called, will go to college, the school's disciplinary policy supports cradle-to-grave mentalities, instead of cradle-to-college.

I am speaking of the teachers that bully the students by sending them out of class for minor offenses. Or, not allowing students to use the restroom and the child using the bathroom on themselves, because the teacher wants to stick to her tight "learning" schedule and then blaming the child for the accident. I also found that teachers were ill-equipped to deal with students bullying (name-calling, putting hands on another student) other students. The teacher would send both students out of the classroom.

There is entirely too much homework. Homework is assigned everyday, Mon-Fri, and over all holiday breaks. The school is not revealing to the public that their early math and science test scores were achieved using different tests than the rest of Metro Nashville/Davidson County Schools, so it is like comparing apples to oranges. Also, they retest, over and over again until most children achieve a high grade. The problem with that is the child is studying to pass a test and does not retain the knowledge taught, in my experience, and the student has to be retaught to catch up with peers.

A very small minority of the teachers are great: not only well educated, but caring. The best teachers usually leave the classrooms and become coaches or for higher administrative positions. With the school being majority black, there are not enough black, effective male teachers employed at the school. Some of the teachers and staff bully the students, especially those with disabilities (ADHD, other) or those that do not conform to the school's belief that children should act like mini-adults.

If you want to preserve your child's love for learning/school and self-esteem, I would recommend you send your child to a different school, until more effective leadership takes over the reigns.

Both of my children attend East End Prep and I am proud to say that this is an amazing school with amazing teachers and administrators. The staff there truly care about turning around the disfunction that is Nashville schools. Kudos to you all!!

I can't express how much we love this school. I toured many schools in area for my son, and felt this was the school for him. The culture is an environment indicative to learning. Are they rigorous? Yes. Are you as a parent required to be involved? Yes. 2 teachers in each classroom, cultural diversity, and a solid curriculum. This is what I feel makes this school top notch. Thank you EEP, I can't express how proud we are be an EEP family!
