Overall its a good school but some things should be addressed !My daughter attended Hawkins Mill Elementary for two years without a problem! Her second grade year her assigned teacher snatches her by her arm! Since my child came forward about this incident She has started to be picked with consistently by this same teacher. She goes from A’s and B’s to D’s and F’s We spoke with the principal about moving her to a different Class an it was no acccomadation My child was being mentally abused

This school was showing improvement in all areas before COVID. The staff care about students. Extra staff has been added to help improve the reading and math scores. Teachers are willing to go to great lengths to help families.

They are very rude and disorganized. They never answer their phones or faxes and They say they don't have important paper work that is required to be in this school.

Hawkins Mill is on the rise, and continues to move students up! Definitely the best school in Frayser, possibly the best in Memphis. Test scores have risen over the last two years, under the direction of the awesome, new principal, Mr. Antonio Harvey. Teachers are dedicated to helping students and Mr. Harvey dishes out tough love to keep students focused on academics, as well as help them develop into productive citizens. The counselor, Mr. Williams, helps students and parents with anything they need: counseling, school supplies, food, clothing, job applications, and anything else imaginable! We have many Level 4 and Level 5 (out of 5)teachers in our building, and test scores are rising, which shows student growth. 3rd, 4th, and 5th Grades performed at Level 5 (out of 5) TVAAS growth on TCAP last year. Proof positive!

Besides the programs the counselor has, students are guided daily, with positive reinforcements, to strive for excellence. Issues that do arise are handled quickly and fairly to ensure that students know the expectations for a Hawkins Mill Student.
