My family has had an outstanding experience at White Station Middle School (WSMS). I had one child graduate in 2023 and another that will graduate 8th grade this year. Both are in the optional program and transitioned easily from elementary school. The school does a great job of welcoming new students and getting them acclimated. There is a great orientation in the summer as well as a popcorn social for new students to get to know one another.

The academics are top notch with a wide variety of classes ranging from traditional to honors to the opportunity to take high school courses onsite at WSMS in 7th and/or 8th grade if they qualify. The teaching staff is excellent with many having taught at WSMS for many years.

There are many extracurricular activities to choose from such as extensive sports offerings and approximately 40 clubs. The academic clubs are very accomplished, winning competitions at the state and national levels. Many of the athletic teams are city champions and compete well in state competitions. There are many musical offerings including three orchestras, a number of choirs, an acapella group, and the school band. Last year, WSMS students made up 25% of the All-West TN Orchestra. The musical offerings are excellent and enriching for the entire student body, even for those who do not participate and only attend the concerts.

The parents association has been very welcoming to me and I have enjoyed getting involved. Both of my kids made friends quickly and it is a fun and positive social environment.

Many students matriculate to White Station High School, which has the most robust academic offerings in the county. WSHS has more AP classes than any school in the area, more National Merit Semifinalists than any school in west Tennessee, more than 50 clubs, as well as robust athletic offerings.

White Station Middle is an awesome school. The teachers are phenomenal. They are accommodating, motivating and understanding. The teachers teach and the students are learning. The administration is easy to get in touch with. Yes, White Station is a large school, but they offer so much to the students. Their exploratory class offerings are extensive. They offer 5 foreign languages (Japanese, French, Chinese, Spanish, and Latin). Other exploratory options include Art, Theatre, STEM, Choir, Band, Orchestra, Facing History and Ourselves, PE, Computer Science, Creative Writing, etc. etc. etc. The parent organization is very hands on and helpful. The front office staff is friendly. Phone calls and emails are returned in a timely matter. WSMS has over 45 after school clubs and extracurricular activities. They offer so much and have made my child so well rounded.

My experience with White Station Middle School for my child's education has been rather disappointing.

While there were some aspects that showed promise, overall, the learning environment did not meet my expectations. The learning experience at White Station Middle School fell short of being satisfactory. The curriculum seemed outdated, lacking in innovation and engagement. My child often came home disinterested and unmotivated, which hindered their overall academic progress I believe. The teaching quality at White Station Middle School was, at best, decent. While some teachers demonstrated dedication and competence in their subject areas, others seemed less enthusiastic and struggled to effectively communicate complex concepts. One of the most disappointing aspects of White Station Middle School was its poor mental support. It was disheartening to see that the school did not prioritize the emotional well-being of its students adequately, and the safety measures at White Station Middle School, as they were very low. Instances of bullying and disciplinary issues seemed to be handled inadequately, leaving students vulnerable to potentially harmful situations. I would come to the office at least monthly to pick up my child due to a fight or a argument.

I do not recommend this school for any parents looking for a great experience for their child. The staff are quite friendly, but the actual experience for the child is unbelievable. There are so many better places to go.

It’s as if the kids at this school are encouraged to pick on and bully each other. The administration simply turns a blind eye to students fighting and threatening each other at school. If a student reports being bullied the teachers and principal take no real action to stop it. There is a really messed up power dynamic at this school that all the teachers and administrators refuse to address. They let the bullies pick on and make fun of the special education students that go there and don’t do anything about it. In the past two years my child has had two or even three teachers a year in almost every subject because teachers don’t seem to stick around at this school very long. The school does not communicate issues with the parents or students even and if your child doesn’t keep you informed about what is going on in this school no one will. I know it gets really high scores because it has optional programs but don’t even consider going here if you’re in a traditional class. Those are the class rooms full of students with behavior problems and they are allowed or even expected to do whatever they want and act out. Not enough staff take teaching the traditional students seriously do those students don’t take school seriously.

This school is so messed up. When I got to school I my teachers don't teach you at all. The student are so rude were all tired of school we act like everything is ok but its not. Don't even get me started with Bully's there so rude. Thera's a bunch of fights here. No one follows the Covid-19 Gide lines now i have half of my class is not here because they have it.

My child loves it. It's a very diverse school with a rigorous curriculum and has a great reputation.

I have appreciate the outstanding communication the school, teachers, and parent teacher organization provides. My child loves this school. The only issue we have is the 7:15 AM start time, but my child has adapted well. Me not so much!

My son is a 6th grader and teachers provide excellent resources for homework for parents. My child is not burden with a lot of homework, but he is proactive when completing his assignments.

My daughter experienced a lot of bullying..she was slapped, her breasts were grabbed, a student said he was having relations with her mother (me), someone threatened to kill her....all students were reprimanded, but the problem is no doubt there.

We pulled our daughter out at Christmas break in 7th grade because she just couldn't take it anymore and she was getting very depressed. She is in a Christian private school now and doing much better. This is not the White Station I went to in the 90's.

The old principal, Mr. Page is greatly missed. Dr. Danley needs to be replaced. She does not care about bullying in the school.

Please do not believe the hype about this school. We believed it and was so happy to send our child there at first. It was the worst decision made and our child had the worst year of her life. The amount of bullying there is ridiculous and goes ignored. The teaching and academics there is no different from any other school. The new principal is horrible. Mr. Page is greatly missed. Trust me when I say, it is not as great as they make it seems. You will only see how bad it really is if you send your child there.

This school behavior is unacceptable when it comes to registration of your child..I just purchased a new home that will need a lot of upgrades before me and my family moves in so we are still living in our rental home that is located in the white station middle school district my son attended the 6th grade at white station however this year they tell me because they see a light bill in my name at my new home i bought they are not able to approve my son with me showing them over enough paperwork to prove that im still at the same location my current light bill,mail,and lease what more could you want from me people. Im very disappointed and when my son do get approve i cant wait to move into our new home and get my honor student away from this evil school.They are not for the kids they have their picks..

This school is really great if your child is exceptionally talented, if you are fine with paying for tutors to supplement classroom instruction and if you can accept the fact that any concerns you have with a teacher will be ignored. I would say that about half of the teachers at this school are really stellar, the rest are *rated* as such but that is mostly because they benefit from the absolutely rabid helicopter parenting. Because so many parents do their kids homework/projects for them and/or hire private tutors when instruction is poor, there is a great deal of substandard teaching that is masked and would never be revealed through test scores. This school is all about numbers and readying kids for standardized testing. Kids do not become thinkers here, they become robots. My kids had a wonderful elementary school experience and their love of learning was promptly squashed when they entered this linoleum sweatshop. Don't believe the hype. The only thing that this school has over Snowden or STEAM is a public relations machine.

Haven't had any good responses with the middle school. No one ever wants to return phone calls or even help with problems. Even the parent liaison won't return calls. And that is what our taxes pay them to do. The after school program is worthless. The tutoring for my daughter doesn't do any good. The after care director doesn't encourage the kids to do anything they don't want to.... Including homework. She always has her special kids. Like that she let's do whatever. None of my calls to the school officials were ever returned, except for the assistant 8th grade principal. I have to write a letter and tell them what day and time I was going to be there for a meeting and that everyone needs to be there. That is how I was able to get my meeting and then the principal didn't like anything I said. My opinions of all the public schools is that they suck. There are a select few that rate well according to scores and I am not sure how they really are, but my kids are suppose to be in some of the best schools and they suck.

My son just finished 7th grade at WSMS. We could not have been more pleased with the teachers, fellow students, and administration. This is a wonderful school.

Our daughter is completing sixth grade in the Optional Program (advanced) and we could not be happier. She is also in CLUE (Creative Learning in a Unique Environment) class. The pace is fast, but many of the teachers are caring and available for tutoring during lunch and after school if the children need extra instruction or clarification. They email the parents and students all the upcoming assignments a week ahead of time, so it's easy to get a head start on homework if there is a conflict with an extra curricular activity. Parents are highly involved with the school. Great diversity at this school. In addition to the optional program for advanced students (must test in to be accepted), there is also a traditional program and a "district plus" program for those students living in district who did not test into optional but desire somewhat more of a challenging workload. I have been very impressed with the dedication of most of the teachers. My daughter is thriving at this school.

This is the best school in memphis tn I am a 6th grader here and everyone is nice to each other nice teachers nice community fun place to learn and there number 1 goal is to educate with success great place love it. When I leave this place one day I think i am going to cry.

I am a 7th grade student at WSMS, and I love the school!! There are many activities/sports to get involved in, and the students are really nice. As a student, I know that the work is hard. This is only because the teachers want to teach the students everything they need to know.

This is my first year at wsms I am very unhappy with the results that I received from a HIP teacher this year. For those of you that don't know hip is hearing impaired. This teacher went as far well to far .She embarrassed my child in class saying he smelled so bad that it made her throw up. My son did not want to return to this school but it is the only one in the school district. Personally I think she should be barred from teaching. To this day she has yet to apologize to me and my son. if she would go this far with a disabled child who know how far she will go.I thank god that my child is able to communicate to me other wise you will never Know. PEOPLE PLEASE IF YOU HAVE A HIP CHILD I ENCOURAGE YOU TO TALK TO YOUR CHILD DAILY TO KEEP THEM SAFE!!!!

this school is an excellent school it gives the students a chance to do the right thing to do. they have very low fighting rates so this school is a great place to send your children . and this is coming from a formule student .

Im sorry, but I am amazed by so many of the comments made on this board that claim to be from students at this school. Just by reading them, I can tell they are written by middle school students, but by adults, maybe teachers or administrators who work at this school. These comments are written in the style and tone of an adult not a young teenager. Its a shame these writers can not let the school stand on its own merits, let the truth out there. Every school can not be 100% perfect, the students can not be watched 100% of the time and there will be students who will fly under the radar and avoid getting caught after bad behavior. There will be bad apples and they will know how to hide their bullying activities and have cohorts who will stick up for them, as they deny they did not do something...
