Our boy needed homework to reinforce his class work. We were left in the dark in knowing specifically what he is being taught. With his Asperger's disability he needed daily review at home, which he did not get despite our requests. My wife and I are both teachers and able to help at home but not permitted to have any materials or specific knowledge of the daily curriculum. Consequently, he retained little over the course of three years (2007-2010), and had to repeat it all in another school.

After three years of high tuition, our son learned very little. Reality did not match the promises made to us and him. Serious distractions from those with severe disabilities, in open, cramped facilities made learning quite difficult. Details of the academic program were so secretive that we and other families were kept in the dark for long stretches of time, hoping that the "experts" knew what they were doing. The school did not teach to the individual's needs---they seemed to cater to those with the most severe learning difficulties.

Their leadership is a poor example of integrity. They also would not refund a $3000. advance payment of tuition when we finally decided to leave.

They promised us that they educate through the 12th grade level, but that was not the case. After a long time they admitted, when pressed, that the maximum level was 8th grade. Money seems to be their top priority. Our son's 3 yrs of "high school" there was a big waste academically. Their claims are not honest.

See above comments. Any support given was Not effective academically, spiritually, or socially. About the only positive good was that it was not as harsh or dangerous (ex. bullying) for those with learning disabilities as in some of the public schools.

A big waste of time, money, and energy for both student and parents.

My daughter attended Newfound school for 5 years. She is autistic with a speech impairment with learning challenges. After trying public school and another special education school in Dallas, we found a home for our daughter in Newfound. The small class sizes and the genuine care of the school staff helped her achieve learning goals that we did not think were possible. The school was very accomodating to her needs and tailored the curriculum to her level. Dr. Robb and Dr. Guernsey with an extensive Special Education background has created a unique learning experience that we found unmatched. I highly recommend Newfound to any parent.
