This school is a joke. If your child has special needs don’t bring them here. They lied to me about the resources and the help they could provide to my daughter putting me in a very bad spot as a single parent. They offer a 504 plan but say they don’t have enough staff to accommodate my child but kept encouraging me and giving me false hope that things were going in the right direction. Even had me go out my way to get paperwork from my daughter’s therapist to see how they could help knowing they didn’t have the staff. That’s what they told me but I feel like because my daughter wasn’t making their job easy they wanted her out. So all in the same day they had me pick her up because she had a hard time in the computer and on top of that called me later and said she can’t attend. The lady I spoke to kept offering half days but would also say “but due to staff we will probably still call you to pick her up” before I wasn’t getting any calls about her behavior just about her not feeling well so I’m not sure what’s the real problem but this school isn’t right for special needs children.

This is a small school with a close knit community. As a educational consultant, I hear and see staff actively planning how to best support student growth and achievement. Their efforts are paying off. Take a close look at this school for your child! There is more to their story than just the numbers presented online. The children garden. They have live farm animals to interact with daily. They receive individualized attention from staff. The school is committed to a whole child approach to education that ensure children do more than prep for a test. They are taught real world skills through fine arts, innovative technology programs, cullinary programs, and outdoor learning! If I were living in the area, I would enroll my grandchildren in this school without hesitation.

I’ve been a parent at EFWMA for years. The school has had its ups and downs but there has been a vast improvement this past year. Teachers are amazing and really care. The staff too. I’ve seen all teachers know who the kids are not just their students. It’s a very close knit community. It’s easy to get ahold of the teachers and they are very communicative.

They also do a great job of keeping the parents informed and involved with several school events. EFWMA has an awesome principal that has created a safe environment where all children can thrive and be the best version of themselves. 10/10, highly recommend!

Families, students, teachers, and even administration are a community. The administration knows the name of every child and work to make they have opportunities that match their interest. They are approachable and caring. They work hard to maintain a safe and challenging learning environment in the midst of challenging times. My grandson is all boy. Yet at EFWMA he can be an active boy while still learning. The outdoor learning environment provides a world exploration. As he has gotten older, he has been able to attend field trips all over the metroplex and beyond. He has gone hiking and camping with the school and developed relationships with other students that will last a life time. The cultural celebrations are amazing. The Dove Dancers are exceptional. The animal and gardens are unique. EFWMA is a place that welcomes families if all backgrounds. I even see alumni coming back as teenagers to volunteer and enjoy events.

My son had a wonderful experience at EFWMA. He went from PreK to 5th grade. He graduated valedictorian with honors and loved every minute at EFWMA. He was always excited to get up, go to school, see his friends and learn. He loved the teachers and staff, their unique garden, animals and play area. Only a handful of schools offer an outside learning environment like EFWMA. He also learned how to play chess, robotics, coding, and he was on the dance team. He is an only child but toward the end of his time at EFWMA I noticed a change in him. He had become a mentor to his younger classmates and the younger dance team members. We are proud of his accomplishments at EFWMA and exciting to see what his education career takes him. The teachers and staff truly love their jobs and seeing their students succeed.

EFWMA is top notch, and their leadership academy is second to none. Their pre-k 3 program promotes literacy in al contents, and not our children were reading 2-3 grade levels higher by their fourth birthday. They are a true family. Perfect? No. Worth it. Absolutely.

Posted: March 22, 2020

EFWMA provides multiple opportunities for students to demonstrate their learning including through homework. They also have tutoring built into their day so that students can master learning on the day they receive the instruction.

Posted: March 22, 2020

We really appreciate the expertise of the teachers here at EFWMA. Teachers participate in professional learning in ways that exceed those of public schools. They are giving children amazing opportunities to experience their community, city, and state and determine how they can contribute and solve problems.

My son has attended this school since he was in pre-k3. He has blossomed and matured at this school and his STAAR scores are remarkably great. I can only say great things about his teachers. They go out of their way to find the right way to teach my child. The administration is much better and I haven't had a problem with them, ever. I am grateful beyond words to the school but mostly, to its teachers. They're the true heroes! The quality of education they try to bring to the kids in a very low income area is something their parents could never afford in a private school. But parent involvement is really needed. Parents, get more involved and volunteer in your children's school. It really makes the difference!!!

I received an acceptance letter for my son for this school, and the email told me to come to register any time between 8AM and 10PM on a certain Saturday. I thought this was a wide range, but they barely gave me two weeks notice and I already had a training scheduled that day that I had paid for. I did call the Thursday before to verify the times of the registration and that all I had to do was show up during those times with the required paperwork, yet this was somehow not caught then. I came up on Saturday at 5PM, and found that they were closed. I called. I sent emails.

By Monday afternoon no one had responded to me, so I sent emails to the Vice Principal on up. The Vice Principal called me back, apologized, and set up a time for me to come in with the paperwork. I was told that the office staff would be expecting me. My son is mildly autistic, and I made some inquiries about his needs, and I was told that I would be able to speak to the diagnostician at that time. When I came in at the scheduled time the office staff was NOT expecting me. And then when I asked to speak to the diagnostician I was told that the diagnostician was unavailable, even though I was told by the Vice Principal that I would be able to speak with her.

I pulled my son out of public school a year ago and put him in a full time therapy program for autistic children that works on academic skills, though it is not a school. I knew he could either go to kinder or first, and I was wanting to get a feel for where the curriculum is and where he is academically to find the best placement for him. However, I was told that as he was in pre-k when I pulled him out he would go to kinder, period, no discussion, no review as to whether or not this is where his skills are or not.

I had hopes that a Montessori school would be willing to work with my son to find the best place for him to succeed, and I had hopes of having a dialogue where my concerns are listened to and where I felt I could work collaboratively with the school in the best interests of my son, yet I quickly got the message that to get my son an education there I would have to fight and advocate for him. If just getting him registered is that much of an ordeal, then it's speaking volumes about whether or not they are interested in his success.

At least I know early in the process not to waste any more time with them.

Posted: February 9, 2017

The school does a horrible job at communicating with parents. The gardens and outdoor learning areas are just for show, the children do not use them. The office staff is rude. Dont make the mistake we did, dont enroll your children in this school.

I attended this school k-5, and I cannot say that I'm not happy with my experiences. The teachers, not only acted as people who teach, but also as friends towards the students. I feel that the bond between the teachers and students is very tight and passionate! When I left the school to go to 6th, I was so far ahead, I got bored in class and dozed off. I did extremely well on all standardized tests (I even finished the 4th grade math in my head an received a perfect score). I brag about myself because I feel like I am bragging about the school, it is the foundation for all of my success! I couldn't be more happy with my experience! I highly recommend this school, hope this was helpful, thanks!

Posted: August 28, 2014

As a former teacher I can say that the reason this school is suffering more and more academically is because of poor manegment, disorganization and under qualified administration. One of the administrators does not even have a bachelors degree or any teaching/principle/admin certifications and is responsible for making huge decisions about the curriculum that directly effect the children. Turn over rate is high, and if you don't have enough long term teachers the school suffers.

Posted: May 14, 2014

Poor leadership is what is killing this school and causing good teachers to leave. Teacher satisfaction is low as is morale. Children attending this school are being cheated. They deserve to have satisfied teachers who are not continually beat down by inexperienced leaders.

Posted: April 27, 2014

East Fort Worth Montessori Academy is the best school in FT Worth I have two older daughters that attented other schools and they did not get any of the attention that they needed to acheive their life long goals, the teachers always have time to teach each child and with the school being small each child is heard. I would not trade this school for the World. everyone here is so helpful and they all go above and the call of duty for the children.

Posted: January 16, 2014

I am a parent and I am grateful that this school is here. The teachers and staff do a great job. My daughter's teacher is Montessori certified and almost all of her work is Montessori. I love the gardens and the animals. No other school compares to this one!

Posted: November 8, 2013

Teriible school not Montessori they are just stealing money from the government. They are not even Montessori the Montessori materials are just for show.

Posted: August 22, 2013

This school keeps losing teachers because of poor leadership and working conditions. Not to mention seriously low pay...

Posted: April 16, 2013

This school has serious issues with leadership, management, and administration. One of the principal's in the daughter of the owner and is truly unqualified. The new principal claims to be an advocate for teachers and that is simply not true. Witch hunts are a daily occurance in this environment. Parental support is nominal, and staff morale is extremely low. The few good teachers they had have left. Very sad.

Posted: January 27, 2013

My child's teacher has been with this school for over 10 years, and she takes extra strides to educated my child and her classamates. These teachers care about the children RETAINING the information taught. That's awesome in my book.

Posted: January 23, 2013

I honestly feel as if administration members of EFWMA are writing these "wonderful" reviews. As a parent, I am far from satisfied by both the administration and the education that efwma serves. Its a JOKE. They keep bragging about how they are an exemplary school- look up the statistics. My daughter was a straight A student before she came to this school. Her grades have dropped drastically. She comes home complaining that she learns very little and the teacher doesn't take the time to explain the information when she asks. I have to reteach everything when she comes home. I use to very rarely do that because she never needed it. Aside from that, I have never in my life dealt with such rude, careless and disorganized administration.

My grandchildren attended EFWMA in ther Pk through 1st grade before they moved to Austin. They were accepted into an Austin charter school and teachers were amazed at how much they new. Immediately they began asking "what school did you attend"? Not only were they excelling in their acaddemics but also their knowledge of the environment and how to care, their manners, ettiquette, social skills and love for the arts. They both play a musical instrument, draw and create art that amazes their art teachers. They are now both attending a college prep middle school where their grades are excellent. I bought them a kindal because there was no more room on thier shelve for books. When they come into town, they always want to visit the school. Thank you EFWMA staff for preparing my grandkids and giving them a great start.

Posted: October 15, 2012

The teachers go above and beyond for these students. This school isn't for every child. If your child is not self motivated this is not the place for them. The previous negative reviews are a joke. If a parent that is NOT INVOLVED in EVERY aspect of a child's education (homework, teacher/parent communication, pto meetings, school events.) How you expect them to achieve. Everyone is quick to complain. What are they doing to contribute and make things better?

Posted: October 4, 2012

EFWMA is a wonderfully nurturing environment for children to learn. My child is in his second year of Pre-K and is starting to read. He comes home every day with stories of what he learned that day not who he played with as he did prior to EFWMA. The teachers he comes in contact with dayly and/or weekly encourage him to do his best and he does. The Outdoor Living classes that bring math and science to life, he loves. Although, at times, the administration does seem a little unorganized, they truly have the best interest of the children at heart.

I LOVE EAST FORT WORTH MONTESSORI SCHOOL!!! The Montessori enviroment is great for a child development, the quality of education this school provides has no price. The Director is a very commited person to her goal of bringing Montessori to every child regarless of their economic position and a type of education that is mostly reserved for wealthy people is available to all through this charter school, we really need more schools like EFWMA in our community. The children here are very happy and learn in a very stimulating classroom, they develope independence, responsability and discipline. The teachers receive a lot of training and we as parents are also involved in the proccess, they teach us about the Montessori method and how to use it at home. This is the best education you can get in this area, I am so fortunate that my child attends to EFWMA. He gets an excellent attention, has started to read even though he is in Pre-K, the outdoor learning and the materials they use in classroom is very stimulating for these little minds. This is the best school in the area :) Thank You Mrs. Brown for bringing this to our children, we hope you can expand the school through higher grades.

Posted: May 28, 2012

As a former teacher at this school, I can honestly say that ratings are low because students are not being properly instructed in academics. Further, absolutely no accountability exists for students with behavior issues. And there are plenty of students with extreme behavior issues at this school. Administration is a joke and highly unorganized. Students learn from the adults around them. Unfortunately, the adults around these students are often undertrained, undereducated, or simply not experienced enough to run a school. Teachers are unhappy and looking for other jobs. It is sad that parents are being fooled into thinking their students are getting a great education--when it is mediocre at best. Hence the great schools rating of "4."

Posted: April 9, 2012

I could write a review based on my experiences, however my children's point of view would be much better! My daughters speak of their experiences daily! They are very eager to learn and make GOOD GRADES! The academics are rigorous and they keep them busy. They love to care for the many school animals and enjoy the their time in the outdoor learning environment. We could not have been afforded a better "free" education. I also had a son enrolled here and he is doing very well in 7th grade in a FWISD school. If he had his way he would still be at EFWMA! The teaching staff are Montessori Certified, as well as, State Certified. I have never had a problem or question left unresolved! The school Director has a vision and she is constantly working towards making the school better for the children enrolled. I'M A VERY PROUD EFWMA PARENT!

This was the worst educational experience we've encountered. Unfortunately we gave them a second try and my son attended for 2 years. Half-way through the 1st year we learned his teacher was not Montessori certified. The 2nd year he was stabbed in the leg with a pencil, got a black eye and more...and being one of the few caucasians enrolled, he was constanly bullied. We asked the principal and staff for help to no avail. They gave minimal support and did not follow through with communication. The teachers are not organized and obviously are not controlling the students. When we enrolled in public school this year he scored low, although he was given high marks at EFWMA. If you want your child to grow and learn in a positive environment, do not send him to EFWMA.

I think that this is a wonderful school and I know that the employees work very hard to make sure that my child is successful. My child's teacher has her state certification and her Montessori certification. I always feel welcome here.

My wife and I just took a tour of this school and I am very impressed. The staff is knowledgeable and friendly. The school was recommended to me by my neighbors and they are very satisfied with the school.

My child attends the PreK campus at the Stop Six Diddley Center. I love the staff. It's a great Montessori education.

I cannot say enough good things about this school. As a parent, I certainly have a voice here. When you walk down the halls you hear happy children. The Montessori philosophy was new to me but the staff members know what they are doing and my four year old was reading the first semester. Truly amazing!

After home schooling our son we looked long and hard for a school. Small class sizes. Tutors when needed. They even do Saturday school. I think the teachers go the extra mile to make sure my son succeeds. I wish they would add a middle school. I think that if more parents would participate in the PTO functions the school would offer more programs.

This school is a complete mess. Administration is disorganized and my childs teachers seem stressed. We won't be back next year. Very sad.

I am extremely unsatisfied with this school. The administration lacks communication and they are not truly a Montessori school. Most teachers don't have their Montessori certification so basically it's false advertisment. The PTO meetings are highly unorganized and lack significance.

My wife teachers at this school and she enjoys the low teacher/student ratios it affords. Teachers are highly trained and class size is small. This K-5 school is considering adding another grade. I think that would be great!

My son is currently in PK. I love the way the teachers care for the children and I feel at ease when I drive away. I understand Montessori is not for everyone, but my child has made great progress.
