First two years were wonderful and great improvement on my son, he is above average. But good teachers left. This year in 4th grade he dropped the grades abruptly, first due to the teacher yelling at them all the time and not showing any interest on his improvement, also lack of communication with parents, second because a case of bullying harassment they neglected and caused severe health and mental issues to my kid. I had to go to superintendent to get a solution.

The lack of professionalism, care, and communication from this namesake of the U.T. system is disappointing. My son was chosen to attend U.T. Elementary through their lottery early in March of 2018. Apparently, there was notice of a parent orientation meeting to take place in August of 2018 that was supposed to be given to us when we picked up our registration packet. Neither myself nor my son's mother saw this notice. In the intervening months, there was zero communication between the school our family regarding this meeting at all. There was no mailing, no phone call, and no update to the website to indicate the importance of it. We received a "courtesy email", as school officials referred to it, to remind us of the meeting 24 hours in advance. The problem? We were out of town visiting family that we get to see every other year. This was the first notice that myself and my son's mother had seen of this meeting. The result? I learned today that my son's spot was forfeit. This, apparently, didn't even warrant a phone call from the principal to explain the situation-- I had to call her to find out what had happened. Again, zero communication. As an educator myself for 20 years, I have learned that solid and consistent communication between teachers, school administrators and parents is vital for achieving a school's educational mission. Had I known about this meeting, or been reminded in any way prior to the 24 hour courtesy email, I would have been in attendance, no question. Is this lack of robust communication acceptable to a school that flies the U.T. banner? As a strong advocate of the U.T. system, I would say most assuredly not. Parents beware. If this lack of attention to detail is any indication of the way that the school is managed, then students are ultimately going to be the ones that suffer. I ask that the administration of this school turn the magnifying glass upon themselves and truly ask: is this the best we can do for students and parents? For our family, we now have to explain to a very excited 6 year old that the moment we had been hyping him up for the past six months is not going to come to pass. Shame on you, U.T. Elementary. Our community, our parents, and most of all, our kids deserve much better than this meager effort.

My children attended this school for several years. When they started the principal and administration were great. However, through out the years, the principals, teachers, and leadership changed several times, each getting progressively worse. There is little communication between teachers and parents, bullying is out of control and is given little consideration, Some teachers say things to the kids that upset them, or are not appropriate. The good teachers end up leaving mid year., leaving the kids a lack of stability. The kids do hours of homework each night, that must be done-, and initialed by a parent that it is correct- but they do not get graded for it. The lack of communication, regards for concerns, leadership, and bullying would definitely not make this school one that I would recommend, or send my children to again.

We have had two children at the school and have had some truly wonderful teachers, which is always a gift. That said, we have also seen the administrative staff make decisions in such a way that shows little regard for the students. Sending teachers away midyear, or swapping teachers in the middle of the semester unexpectedly is the norm here. Little value seems to be placed on providing consistency for the youngest children. As with other Austin-area schools, there is also a steep emphasis on standardized testing.

This school is very pleasing. There is exceptable behavior and learning here and the students are also learning a grade ahead of their actual grade. The school also has great fundraisers such as pennies for peace(Africa's schools) and walk for water (clean water). There are Donors that pay for the field trips are fairs/carnivals. If you want to come to this school, expectations are high here so get started! From Pre-kindergarten to PhD!

This school is fantastic. All of the staff and teachers seem to be on the same team, the student body is incredibly diverse and their approach to teaching considers the whole child, yet is academically rigorous.

I am relocating my child from a private christian school in Michigan. I'm looking for a excellent kindergarten base school
