Both of my sons attended LCA for multiple years and graduated. It was a great experience and my sons were well prepared for college. I found the staff to be very loving and caring. My son's had many truly excellent teachers. As a former educator myself, this was very important to me. A few were not excellent, yet the school listened to parents and those teachers either found other assignments or were not invited back. The school is to be commended for this. The social support system my sons had was amazing. Godly coaches and faculty poured into them. One of my son's utilized the learning center for hyper focused ADHD. It was well run and the staff taught him how to manage himself over time. They were very caring and really made a difference in his life. By college he really didn't even need extra time on tests due to the strategies he learned from the learning center. A small private school is not equipped to handle severe disabilities, yet they do a great job on what they advertise being able to cover. I believe any private Christian school will always not live up to some peoples expectations simply because no place is perfect. Why do we expect humans to be perfect? We can never measure up. Most of the families that attend want excellent academics, sports, extra curricular, and students growing to become who God made them to be. There are always a few who are at a private school for the wrong reasons. I again say though these are outliers at LCA. Will students make mistakes along the way? Absolutely! Will teachers/staff make some mistakes? You can count on it. With that said, we found LCA to be a very loving place for our kids to "grow up and learn." Was it perfect? Of course not...but honestly I felt like it was worth every single penny. It was a sacrifice that I'm glad we made. I highly recommend LCA to anyone considering a Faith based private school with excellent academics. It was an excellent environment for my sons and our family.

Legacy Christian Academy seems like a great school to go to, promising academic success, a deeper connection with God, and more. However, LCA is pretty far from all of that. First off, let's talk about the academics. It almost seems like LCA tries to make AP and college courses harder to reach. For example, at a PUBLIC high school just 5 minutes away, kids are taking multiple AP classes by FRESHMAN YEAR! At LCA, however, in 99% of cases, the earliest you can take an AP class is Junior year, which is a bit ridiculous. The requirements for the college level are also stupidly high. Also, Christianity at the school can be used by the higher-ups to abuse their power. They use Christianity to justify their actions, even if they aren't right to do. A specific Vice Principal and Baseball Coach I won't name abuses Christ to get his favorite kids out of trouble. Kids also go around saying the worst stuff to their friends as "jokes", despite their "jokes" being harassment and criminal. Drug use, sexual stuff, and alcohol use aren't uncommon as well with kids there. Kids, especially kids who aren't African-American, also go around using the N-word A LOT. It's so sad that a school that promotes lots of Christian morals can't keep its kids from doing stuff that goes against the Lord's words. Don't even get me started on the athletics. If you aren't a football player at LCA, then don't expect too much. Football is the Golden Boy at LCA, to the point that the school will do everything to make sure the team is well fed. They increased tuition by about $3000 for free lunch, but the lunch quality went to garbage, and football got new lights and uniforms. I get it, they are good, but the other sports need more attention. Football has multiple former NFL players as coaches, brand new gear, and has gone out to get good players. Meanwhile, basketball barely gets helped out, but at least they get gear like Nike Tech Jackets. Softball is the same, but their field is terrible. It's uneven, and the dirt is the worst I've ever seen. However, baseball might be the worst. Out of every high school program I've seen, LCA has the worst one. The field can't handle even .75 inches of rain and isn't well kept up with. The coaching is the worst I've ever seen, and they have targeted some kids. And the team isn't even good. They rarely get gear, can't compete half the time, and don't seem to want to win. Don't go to LCA. If you want to go private, don't go here. Or, just stay in public school.

Legacy Christian is a huge disappointment. Most people write reviews from a malicious desire. I am a very credible parent with a history of knowledge regarding LCA. The hypocrisy you experience sending your child to this school will create more damage than good. They are known to pick and choose students they want to isolate. Then, find and gather information on students by calling students in one by one asking various and very inappropriate questions that turn student against student. During these interrogations, eventually, the student becomes exhausted by the interrogation. LCA takes that information, they take what they "heard" and share the information with another student and interrogate that student at random... and it goes on and on and on. These interrogations create extreme gossip in the school, which then isolates kids where they feel like an outcast.
Kids feel terrible about the judgment placed upon them, and this is an LCA tactic. I have never complained on any platform or website, nor am I someone to speak up and vocalize negativity, but sending your kid to this school would be a big mistake for your child's future. In the past, I have paid tuition for other students who were not able to afford tuition. I sent all of my children to this school and supported the school and what it stood for over many years. Two of my kids were on the homecoming court, the National Honor Society, Football, and a Cheerleader. I have enough years and experience to feel vocally honest and helpful in sharing this review. If you want a Christian school that teaches true Christian principles, please trust me and look elsewhere. The founders who started this school had an amazing vision and are amazing Godly people. However, once they were no longer involved the school unfortunately went completely downhill.

This is a truly horrible environment to put your child in. I attended school here for over 10 years and am still working through the trauma I endured here. There are a few good teachers that truly care but the administration is truly awful. Not to mention the many scandals that get swept under the rug due to them involving staff members in favor with those in power. Do yourself a favor and please do your research before sending your child here. I have never been in a more hypocritical or judgmental environment. I also am no longer religious due to experiencing such hypocrisy and hate in a loving Christian environment. While things may seem great at first, the Christian lovebombing and smoke and mirrors will fade and the true hellish environment of this hateful place will leave you questioning your faith in Christianity.

LCA provides an environment where students will grow not only in education but also in favor with God. They are taught thru Bible founded principles in a safe environment. We have attend LCA for more than 4 yrs now. LCA has went thru some changes in the last few years with staff, but one thing always remains, the school makes our children feel loved and safe. I would highly recommend LCA to any family looking to find a safe and Christ based education in the DFW area. Our children in 2nd and 5th.

Now in our seventh year at LCA, we could not be happier with our experience. Our children receive a Christ-centered education, equipped with the armor they need in life outside of school. Our experiences thus far have been within elementary grade levels and the academics have been top notch. Our children are at or above their grade level in all subjects and their standardized test scores prove they are receiving a dynamic education. The school focuses on growing well-rounded children, as it offers a variety of elective courses and sport opportunities. We love the LCA community and the educators listen thoughtfully to parents' concerns.

This school used to be a quality place. The administration has changed and now it is a very intolerant place, very judgmental, and not Christian at all. There is so much turnover in the teaching staff and many that had been there for a very long time. It is sad what has happened to this school. Not worth the money.

Very unapproachable and they dont really welcome parental input. If it is given, they are unresponsive to issues.

There is a program for learning differences but it is little more than a supervised study hall. And it cost extra.

I have not had experience in this area. However, LCA has a LPC on staff at every level. This is something I really appreciate. The well being of our kids is of utmost importance to LCA.

With a professional counselor on staff who knows our children, bullying is a topic that is addressed in classes, extra programing, and from administration.

My family has been at LCA for 4 years. While it is not a perfect school, LCA is comprised of faculty and staff who know, love, and prepare my boys using a Biblical worldview. We have chosen to partner with LCA for the education and development of our children, and cannot imagine a better choice for our family!
Posted: August 4, 2020
The kids aren't given homework for the sake of homework. Plenty of time is given in class to work on assignments, and tings brought home are mostly review and routine (i.e. spelling list, 20 min of reading)

This one is easy. Character traits and strengths are built into the curriculum and implemented daily in class.

Especially highlighted during the COVID situation, our leadership went above and beyond in communication and preparation. Virtual town hall meetings occurred on a regular basis keeping us abreast of our progress and interactive, giving parents an opportunity to ask any questions.

We absolutely love LCA! Our kids are challenged while keeping a focus on the well rounded educational experience keeping Christ first. They live by their promise to know and love our children. The LCA community has been just as valuable for our family unit as it has been for our kids individually. We joined when our girls were in 2nd and 6th grade, my only regret is not moving to Legacy sooner!

My family and I are going into our 4th year at Legacy and we have never been happier. Our kids love this school and the teachers. The Christian values that the school and staff portray regularly, allows my kids to experience a safe, loving environment outside our home. As a parent, I love how all parts of the school are involved with each other. The high school kids come down and mentor the lower school kids. Football games are a whole school event that gets my kids excited. Our whole family has made lasting friendships. Legacy is a community. The staff are amazing at communication and are honest. I feel the teachers have flexibility that allow them to teach to individual children based on their needs. I also felt they did an amazing job at navigating the COVID situation. The school quickly had a plan in place that allowed our kids to have a smooth transition into distance learning. Most importantly, through Gods love our children are getting an amazing Christian education.

Very true for this institutionhJust because the word Christian is above the door does not mean that is what goes on inside the walls. Very true for this institution.

The leadership is not open door and does not seem to care what the parents think or want. Shockingly uncaring.

My children attended Legacy for many years and one of them now has become agnostic due to the hypocritical and judgmental ways. The leadership is cold and uncaring, and at times quite rude. There have been some staff members there that shouldve been fired long ago but are protected by the board. Too much here to write but absolutely unacceptable behavior and they have been allowed to remain. If you are looking for a Christian experience I would urge you to take your children elsewhere.

Legacy is an amazing school! My kids have attended this school for the past 7 years and I couldnt be more proud of our decision! I was looking for a school that implemented a rigorous curriculum where teachers taught with different learning styles in mind. This school has both! Students are able to think critically when applying concepts and are provided with opportunities of real world experiences. There is a strong partnership between teachers, administrators and parents who work together for the best interest of the student. Its not just words on a paper, they truly care about your children. One of my favorite pieces of LCA is that the teachers work together in lower and middle school to ensure there arent any gaps in the curriculum from grade to the next ensuring that our students are prepared for the next grade level. My kids love it at Legacy! Every summer during the month of July, my daughter mentions that she misses school! That is a blessing! I love that my children are in a Christian environment! As a parent, I cant think of anything that is better!!

Each of my 3 children has found their place in extracurricular activities and the size of the school allows them to easily participate while still having many options. The teachers and staff go above and beyond to help the students succeed and the community is so welcoming. We are so happy to a part of the Legacy Christian Academy family.

If you are in the Plano, Frisco, McKinney or Denton area and want a academic institution that is truly faith based, you will find this as your home as well!

We have been at LCA for 3+ years and have two kids attending in early education and elementary. I appreciate the well-rounded focus on academics, fine arts, athletics, and character-building based on Biblical principles and scripture. Test scores that we've received so far couldn't have been better. The interaction of students across grades is also very nice-- the older kids get to be role models to those younger, and the younger children benefit in many ways, from assigned "reading buddies" to seeing friends at a Friday night football game. And notably, my children genuinely love school and often complain when that odd holiday on a Monday rolls around (e.g. MLK day) that keeps them home. My ask of LCA is to keep the class sizes small and not grow too fast given how much Frisco is booming. Thank you LCA for several great years, and I look forward to those ahead!

We have been extremely pleased with this school in virtually every respect, and could not have made a better selection (and I grew up at another very prominent Dallas private school, so I know them well). LCA's ongoing growth is a testament to the quality of the people and the academics. The academic rigor has been nothing short of impressive, and the culture of the school is of such high standards and quality (yes, there are a few people with questionable motives everywhere, and in every private school). It is truly hard for me to believe a school that is less than 20 years old has the academic status and culture of one far more established and elite. We have found it to be an incredible educational bargain. While the school is unapologetically Christian, the academic quality is not sacrificed in the least. My child is far ahead of her peers from public schools that serve us, and I have absolutely no concerns about the preparation she is being given for college. She will be more than ready. i wish a HUGE thanks to LCA and its administration and faculty!

We have been at Legacy for 12 years, and I cannot recommend a school more highly! I have 4 children, and they have each attended since Kindergarten. My favorite aspect of the school is all of the wonderful, caring teachers who care about each of my children's education as well as their spiritual growth. I have also been so impressed with the principals and administrators, and the overall culture of Legacy. My kids all love music and drama, and Legacy has provided so many plays and musicals for them to be in and learn from. There are also many different sports, service activities, and leadership opportunities for them to take advantage of throughout the year. Legacy has an amazing college guidance counselor who has walked us through everything that we need to know in the college search and application process. As a college prep school, my daughter (who will be a senior this year) is well prepared for college, and has scored high enough on the ACT to attend any of the universities that she is interested in. Legacy Christian Academy is a true Christian school, and their Bible curriculum is wonderful. Most importantly, Legacy teachers/staff have discipled my kids in a personal way.

As my 10th grader takes his last finals today, we are excited to begin the process of selecting his college. I am confident he will be able to attend the college of his choice given the rigorous academics at Legacy. His scores on the PSAT and PACT rank among the top 85% in the country (that includes private and public schools). I will look forward to posting his scores following his June tests as well as his acceptance to the College of his choice.

Frisco Legacy Christian Academy has been a wonderful experience for my children. The teacher are exceptional, my child has learned more at this school than the public school he was attending. The college counselor has helped prepare our child for college and also life after college with career planning.

Legacy Christian Academy is a wonderful school that takes honoring God in all that they do very seriously. From the moment you walk in the doors, you can feel that it is a different place... The academics are rigorous, the excitement for learning real and the love for the students exceeds it all.

MY kid has been attending LCA since 1st grade. I'd like to think that everything she has become, it is because of LCA... meaning she is a straight A student and a good kid (quiet and well mannered). It probably is so until this year... she is in her 9th grade and she had given her ALL as usual only to find out- she did not get ANY- not even 1 academic award this year which she had been getting several in the past. It seems the UPPER SCHOOL is now focusing in building a school to have "feel good" students because those are the kids that were recognized this yr. The kids who are "godly". Very confusing because that is subjective and almost judging. For 15K/yr, I am expecting a school that is truly college preparatory- because that is reality. Obviously,we value character however, disregarding a person's academic ability because you want to instead reward the kids who are "godly" --- in a world where life is very competitive, that can be tough. This school seems to be evolving into a youth MINISTRY as their focus; not academia. If this is what you are looking for then- LCA is for you. As for my kid-she now feels that all that hard work and being good is not worth it.

Normally, I would not reply to an anonymous letter; however, a post below is misleading about both Legacy & myself, & I feel it warrants a response. If you or any reader is interested in an expanded explanation beyond the 1200 character limit, please contact me at the school. LCA, like most every school, has new faculty annually. Mostly, this is a result of growth & the addition of new positions, not teachers leaving. The average teacher tenure at LCA is 7yrs over our 15-year existence. LCA teachers are loved & considered our most valuable asset. In 2012, LCA was recognized as a Best Workplace by the Christian Workplace Institute, an award based on information supplied solely & anonymously by all staff. It stands to reason that if teachers were unhappy, they would not have rated their workplace experience as superior. Admittedly, I make mistakes, & I have room to improve. I wish I could sit down with you in person, so that you could hear my heart & passion for kids. I am actively involved in the life of our school, including traveling on student trips just as any teacher would do. To correct your assertion, teachers are included in the leadership of all student trips.

This school is not what it used to be. Look at the teacher turn over in the upper levels. Elementary grade teachers are awesome and love the kids, save your $ for middle school and high school. Teachers goof off, there is no accountability, no support from administration. The headmaster is only concerned with himself. He is not involved with the students at all until there is a trip and he goes on the FREE trips abroad with his wife. Of course the students are paying for his FREE tickets. Why not let the teachers go with the students instead? I REST MY CASE! That's how they treat the teachers at Legacy. It is insulting to those hard working teachers. The headmaster gets all the benefits and the teachers get replaced yearly, they are disposable and that hurts the morale and quality of education at this school. My kids thrived after we left this school. Save your money!!!!!

Fantastic school! This is our third year at LCA and we have two children there at this time, another to enter PreK next year. LCA has blessed our family in so many ways, but more than anything, we have really enjoyed the families. For the most part, every family is "training their child up" (Proverbs) in a Biblical way and my husband and I are excited about what the future holds raising our kids up along-side other Christ-followers. It's really enriched our family life and we feel good about the families our kids are surrounded by. There are a few families whose motive for being at the school is questionable, but you will find that anywhere and fortunately, they stick out like a sore thumb (not in a good way). I've really enjoyed my few conversations with the Headmaster and Lower School Principal and feel that their "open door policy" for concerns or suggestions is definitely a sincere gesture. They care about all these kids succeeding. And I believe they care what the parents have to say. We have expressed nothing but praises, but appreciate the approachability of the Admin whatever the reason. I have whole-heartedly recommended LCA to other families and will continue to do so.

Our oldest child attended LCA beginning with Kindergarten & graduated from Legacy in 2012. He was easily accepted at both Texas A&M and UT. As a college freshman this year, he has found himself more than adequately prepared for the academic rigors of college. He is succeding at A&M and has thanked us countless times for allowing him to attend LCA and learn so much there. Legacy has grown since the school began (we have been there all 14 years) and that growth has done nothing but benefit the students. The Bible program teaches students to claim their beliefs and how to be able to defend those beliefs. The Academics at LCA are very stringent in order to prepare the students for any university that they choose. If they have trouble keeping up with the academics at LCA, the teachers and staff are more than willing to help them with their studies outside of regular class time. LCA's headmaster has a huge heart for Christ, as well as for all LCA students, and that clearly carries over to include each staff member, teacher and coach at LCA. You will not find a school in North Texas that can partner with you to help grow your child into the well rounded adult that God made him/her to be.

We are starting our 10th year at Legacy. We love this school. My two children are challenged and encouraged to strive for their best. Every teacher we have encountered truly cares about the academic and spiritual growth of the children. We sacrifice to send our children to private school so that they can receive not only a top notch education, but also to support our Christian values and foundation that is important to our family. Legacy offers a well rounded balance between Bible, academics, fine arts and athletics. We are proud to be a part of the Legacy community.

LCA is a great school. We are not wealthy and make a tremendous effort and sacrifice to keep our son in that school and we strongly believe is the best decision we have made. No bullying problems at LCA. No popular kids at LCA, for us LCA is a big family and everybody treat others with respect and compassion. Academics are outstanding and kids enjoy going to school everyday. Also a big plus is that LCA is not a big school, because I strongly believe, that if the school is too big the kids will be just numbers.

We have been at Legacy for four years now and we couldn't be more convinced of the investment we are making not only in our children's academics, but in their character development as well. My wife and I have been so pleased with the quality of teachers our children have had and the very open-door policy of the admin. Our concerns over a private school environment years ago have not only vanished, but we have quite enjoyed the families at LCA, the values, the caliber of parenting, the teachers' interest in not only your child but your family as a whole. There is no "keeping up with the Jones'" pressure there either, which we were relieved to find. Little value is put on material things and the kids are taught early that "who has what" is not important. There is a lot addressed about one's heart, character and Biblical living. And the academics are very, very sound. All-in-all, I believe it is the most well-rounded educational experience around as far as academics, a sense of community, character training, leadership, extra-curricular activities all with a Biblical foundation. My wife and I are "all in" at LCA. We've seen it come home. It's the real deal.

We are currently driving our son from University Park to Legacy for their Transitional Kindergarten program (because we plan to move to that area in the next few months). A friend of mine urged us to go ahead and get our son in the TK program before enrolling him in Kinder there. We are SO thankful we did! He is currently playing "catch-up" and his teacher has been so great in assuring us he will be ready for Kindergarten. My husband and I are grateful everyday that we are not doing all this driving back and forth for nothing. We are convinced that if he were not doing the TK program at LCA, he would be repeating Kindergarten. Our son is journaling at home, writing in complete sentences, using appropriate punctuation and capitalization and describing words. We have found he is even writing a lot more at home just for fun. He is also reading beginning reader books. I myself cannot believe the strides he has made just this Fall semester. If this continues, we are at Legacy for the long haul for sure!

LCA is a wonderful school, a supportive community and a nurturing environment. My kids are encouraged and taught by devoted teachers who are exceptional. We have been a Legacy family for over 6 years and we can not say enough about the way our kids have grown academically, emotionally/socially and most important, spiritually. Without a doubt, we highly recommend LCA to others looking for a Christian college preparatory education balanced in academics, athletics and fine arts.

What a privilege to be a part of the Legacy Christian Academy family! This is our daughter's fourth year at LCA, and there is no other place we would want her to be. She is challenged academically, loved unconditionally, and has grown spiritually. Having been a teacher myself, I feel like I expect a lot from those I trust my daughter with... The faculty and staff at LCA continue to exceed my expectations. They are amazing and truly KNOW the children in the school (not just the ones in their classes). The headmaster and principals are always visible in the building and are not only approachable, but they encourage you to go to them with any questions or concerns. Without a moment's hesitation, I would (and have) recommend LCA to anyone looking for a Christ-centered, highly academic, nurturing, and supportive school in which to entrust your children. You will not be disappointed.

Both of our kids go to LCA. This year LCA grads went to several of the top 15 colleges including Princeton, Dartmouth, Unv. Of Chicago, Cornell, Brown ....... This speaks volumes about the school. period.

I would urge any person who is seeking private education for their children, in the North texas area, to be extremely vigilant. Ask tough questions about curriculum and ask for transparency regarding all decisions made by the school. I would urge that while you sign a contract financially with the school, you ask them to sign one as well (to uphold the standard of education promises they will make to you) Legacy is getting more concerned about being a business, than it is about the CLASSICAL education of it's FOUNDER, Jody Capehart. ( for whom has sadly been tossed aside) The great teachers it once employed are being replaced by "cost effectiveness" And if you want 20-25 students per class.. (as Legacy is creeping towards..) just be prepared. The beautiful campus has sadly become a shell.

I would suggest looking at other schools too. This used to be a wonderful school, my child went there for years but left last year. There have been too many changes and it turned into a business instead of a Christ centered school with a focus on Christian education.

Can stringent academics coexist with Christ-centered character development? I believe Legacy is committed to do them both with excellence, and in perfect harmony. We considered a school in Addison, but the faith component at Legacy was too important to forsake for only marginal gains in academics. We are not wealthy and we live 30 minutes away, but we are willing to make sacrifices to keep our kids there. Not all families there have been ideal, but the overall community is positive and welcoming.
