DO NOT SEND YOUR KIDS TO THIS SCHOOL!!!! I'm a 15 year old with autism and I had a horrible first year here, the school admins do nothing about bullying, you'd have a better chance at telling them to stop than going to the ap, and the teachers don't care if your being bullied my first year here took such a mental toll on me that I'm losing hair, it's just a bad school I would not recommend.

My child is motivated, but the structure of having to manage 8 courses at 9th and 10th grade seems overwhelming. Administration does not really interact with anyone other than posting news online. School seems full of depressed-looking people. Counseling office has a few confusing messages. Enough said?

Some teachers give lots of homework; some few; some never. We have had a teacher giving homework that was never clear with instructions; when my child approached the teacher, the person was on the phone all the time.

Donna Edge is not really there greeting anyone or physically interacting with anyone except maybe student leaders or staff close to her. We have had much better, hands-on, more cheerful principals for elementary and middle before. This particular administration seems lacking in transparency and not really student/parent-friendly. My observation is that, because of the administration, other department including counseling, etc., are less approachable. Sad.

10% of the staff has been effective with my children. I have had multiple children attend Wakeland and they have had teachers who do not teach. They assign work and give tests. That is not teaching.

Bullying is out of control at this school and the staff does not care as long as they keep winning state championships with their sports programs.

The counselors are the worst when it comes to helping their students. They suggest everyone take AP courses. That is there only answer to every student.

Overall Wakeland High School is a very good school and the teachers are caring. What could be improved is how homework/classwork assignments are assigned. Assignments are posted on a few different online sites which can be confusing. Especially when some assignments are posted on one site and others are posted on other sites or not posted at all.

Wakeland is a strong academics oriented school. They push the kids into thinking outside of the box and they have such a wide variety of AP classes.

I do feel some of the teachers could benefit from more training. We have had a couple of teachers that we felt where not very helpful.

Wakeland is a academically strong school. After sending our child to private school, then enrolling him at Wakeland I could not be more pleased. Strong faculty, excellent sports program and great extra curricular activities make for a well rounded student. They excel at it all. My child now attends one of the top universities in the country. We could not be more pleased.
