I should probably provide no stars for this review, but since our daughter had over 6 wonderful, amazing years at FMA, I'll add the single star.
Simply put, do NOT take your child to FMA. The new ownership has completely ruined the environment, and most of the original staff have now either left or been fired.
We're now trying to get our daughter's school records to enroll at another school, and the new staff has told us that the records might be lost. Wonderful...

Before the new owners came in a few months ago, this was an amazing family oriented school with incredible teachers. The new owners kicked out the teachers, put up a bunch of job listings for $14 an hour, lied to the parents repeatedly, and increased tuition 30%. It's clear they care more about profits than kids.

Before this year, we would always recommend our school to everyone who is interested in a true FMA setting. However, FMA wasnt the same anymore since the change of ownership! We been with the school for more than 10 years. Our daughters were there since they were 2 years old and went thru preschool (Norman, Kessel, Padma, Haynes), kinder (Kessel), elementary (Mullins, Doherty) and stayed thru 6th grade (Buchanan) before we went back to public. It was great and always tailored to every kids academic need before any change of all the teachers by new ownership/ management. DO NOT GET fooled with the positive review. Those were from the old FMA, not the current FMA!!!

Prior to February 2022 this school was wonderful. Exceptional staff, leaders and curriculum. New owners & management have taken this place down. Parents leaving in droves. Teachers not returning. DO NOT GO HERE. Watch for fake reviews posted in April - they're bought reviews.

I am very sad to write this review as up until last night I loved this school. My child has attended this school for the past eight years and we loved it. I was the secretary of the Parent Organization for many years and also a reading mom so was heavily involved in the school as well. The current teachers were amazing and cared about our children. Mrs. Kessler even gave my son private reading lessons when he was struggling to read. Mrs. Mullins had my son for four years and she was awesome. Mrs. Woodcock is also amazing. They are letting Mrs. Mullins go who is the heart of the elementary school along with Mrs. Dougherty. Mrs. Buchanan is the middle school teacher and is phenomenal. Our son s currently in middle school and our plan was for him to graduate from there. Not any more!!!!! The school was sold recently and the owners are lying to the parents. They are not renewing Mrs. Mullins contract. Mrs. Dougherty was supposed to be in charge of the school and they told her that she was not a good leader so she has stepped down. They raised our tuition by 30% and told us it was going to teacher's salaries. That is lie because no one has gotten a raise. They say they are now using a virtual high school and have a lot of interest, but those of us who have children in middle school just heard about it in a meeting last night where we were lied to again. My son will not be returning in the Fall. DO NOT SEND YOUR CHILD HERE FOR ANY PROGRAM!!!!!!

Homework isnt really had unless you fail to complete your work in school . Other wise its just studying or projects that are done outside of school.

Every teacher here puts the utmost effort into every student academically and emotionally.

Yes all students are taught to be respectful of their peers and teachers. The use of the word friend In General allocates the respect they must give themselves and one another. This is the word they use to refer to other students.

I would say the fact that you can always find one or all four owners at the school shows strong leadership values that they are still immersed in every day handlings. Knowing every childs name helping with carpool lines helping teachers. Showing leadership through actions not just directing.
Posted: April 11, 2019
They will try their best but are not equipped for special needs cases.
Posted: April 11, 2019
In all cases there will be written documentation of the event parent confrences student confrences and procedures to make sure they is a stop to it.

Five stars ! We are very happy here

My child comes home learning new things every day. I am amazed at how their brains grow. Teachers are not afraid to redirect behavior while I am there and they realize that behavior modification is a lifelong skill that is developed during these crucial years.
Posted: October 27, 2018
Besides academics, my child is learning lifelong skills which include leadership, socialization, and how to be compassionate.

As a parent, it is important for me to see the Directors involved in the day-to-day activities and operations of this school. Each day I see at least 2 in passing. They know my child's name and our family is not just a dollar sign to them.
Posted: October 27, 2018
The school is diverse and staff members respect everyone's differences. They have language classes and encourage multi-lingual abilities in school and at home.

Our experience has been excellent. Experience was a deciding factor in choosing this school and you can see that this school has experience in many areas: academics, parent/teacher relationship, culture awareness, safety, and much more. I would highly recommend this school if you want your child to feel loved, cared for, and to learn lifelong skills that will carry on into adulthood.

Can't way enough about Frisco Montessori Academy. My son not only learned to read complete sentences, do math, and tell time (among many other things) before he turned 5, but he was also taught respect and how to act inside the home when it comes to chores and responsibilities. Wish we could keep our kids here forever!

To everyone reading this Frisco Montessori Academy is a an Excellent Superior Montessori school that my son attended from the age of 2 to 11 years old. He absolutely could not wait to go to go to school everyday. The academics he mastered at F.M.A. school were so impressive that a Catholic School records department representative who was receiving 6 F.M.A .transfer students into their Junior high level my son being one of them , told me herself after seeing all the standardized test scores from F.M.A were the best she had ever seen and that F.M.A .was a outstanding academic school. Again we would be tested by John Paul II Prep College High school. Today the schools look at the entire child's personal profile before considering them for acceptance. They were so impressed going all the way back to when he first attended F. M.A. that he was immediately accepted because we were shy of 3 days before the deadline for entry.
FMA has been the solid grounded foundation of my sons life. He would never be the outstanding Senior graduating from JPII if not for the wonderful base support that is in continually use that my son succeeds from everyday if not for F.M.A. We will always be indebted to to the brilliance of Frisco Montessori Academy for what they gave my son. They nurtured , supported, instructed, loved him as their own. I and my husband like sooooo many other family cannot thank F.M.A enough. Thank you Elda Capozzi , Pat Lisi, Kamen Moynihan, and Jody Rosen. Thank you Ms. Buchanan , Ms Byers, Ms. John, Ms. Lankford, Ms. Stanfill ,and Ms. Lage and Ms. McIntyre. unbelievable teachers with the intelligence and kindness to love my son, without all of you my son would never be the man he is today!!! You are far more than a Five star school , you are a 10+!!!!!!!

As a parent I was told their bullying policy is strongly in place and that their is absolutely no tolerance for that behavior of any kind at FMA.
Posted: December 10, 2016
Each child is precious and FMA has shown the patience and understanding needed for any child that may have a challenge they have to work with. I commend the love the teachers show for each individual child at FMA
Posted: December 10, 2016
The teachers at FMA are all certified, and educated with the knowledge for not only teaching the Montessori curriculum but preparing the perfect environment for each child's journey to experience for himself what the world is about, who he is as a person, and how to give back to society.
Posted: December 10, 2016
The children at F.M.A. are not only prepared to take care of themselves independently but are true leaders walking their path with confidence because of the guided love from F.M.A. teachers.
Posted: December 10, 2016
Everyone of the teachers at F.M.A. have the knowledge and supportive nurturing to guide the child in their instructional path of learning.
Posted: December 10, 2016
The teachers give the appropriate amount of home required for supporting the child's growth in their growing academics studies.

Not sure why all of the reviews are so old, but I figured I would provide another data point. Our family loves this school. We have two daughters enrolled, one is more mature and generally a good listener and the other likes to play and is strong-willed. They are both THRIVING at this school. Not going to brag about our kids, but what they are doing at FMA blows away what we see/hear about kids doing at other schools.
To the review below (granted it's from 2013, but I figured I throw it out there anyway), the Association Montessori International (AMI) standards state that the ideal size for a primary (ages 3-6) class is 24 - 35 children, so FMA was on the low end of the guidelines for student to teacher ratio. Part of the point of the education is for the child to be left alone to explore whatever it is they want to explore. I personally think that FMA gives the right balance of that freedom with enough structure to make sure kids are moving along with their lessons.
In short, we are big fans of the school and will be keeping our girls there for the foreseeable future.

My son has been attending FMA for about a year now and I can not say enough good things about this school. All 4 owners new his name within the first couple of weeks that he was there which was amazing considering all the children that attend their school. He is 3 now and by no means is he being neglected! In fact, he's been a bit of a handful and his teacher has taken the time figure out what works best for him. We love Ms. Cortez and are very happy that he is in her class.

I would like to clarify some of the comments that were said in the previous review. Yes, we are four owners who were Montessori teachers previously and wanted to make a difference in the lives of children. With this in mind, we opened Frisco Montessori Academy sixteen years ago. The children were then, and are still now, our primary focus. Most of our teachers have been at FMA for ten years or more. We are a family together with our teachers, parents and children. The PTO meeting mentioned was, in fact, a Parent Orientation in which our teachers presented works to our parents. We always encourage our parents to request a conference with their child's teacher to discuss any issues or concerns. We firmly believe in communication between our staff and our families. The Parent Orientation was not, in fact, the best platform for a parent to discuss his/her child's individual needs. We have tried to make FMA the best school and environment for our children. We have wonderful, caring teachers, fantastic parents, and happy children. We are proud of our school and our staff and will continue to make it the best it can be for our children. The primary classes are filled with 24 kids. Many kids are being neglected this year from what i saw. Mostly 3 and 4 years old are the ones being neglected. They sit there for 30 minutes or more doing nothing. kids are very scared of their teachers, especially if they are 3 or 4. Kids are not able to tell the parents that they just sit there and do nothing. People who are writing good reviews must be the four owners. Even the teacher herself admitted she cannot handle all 24 kids' questions so she ignores the most little ones. Negligence issue was brought up last thursday during PTO meeting. As parents we have been told not to discuss this topic again during PTO meeting by director Jody Rosen and keep it private!

LOVE this school!! My first child has been going to FMA since 2008 when he was 2. My daughter began attending FMA as soon as I could enroll her!! Both kids have flourished there and have enjoyed and loved all the teachers they have had!! Every teacher my kids have had, has taken a personal interest in them...really getting to know them. My son's teacher even makes it a point to attend some of his after school sporting events (which is on her own time)!! My daughter can be a handful, but her teacher calmly and patiently took the time to get to know my daughter and learn what made her tick. Both of my kids love to learn and enjoy going to school - I attribute this to fully FMA. Any question or concern I have had, has been immediately answered / addressed by the teacher or administration. I cannot say enough good things about this school and the faculty and administrators. I do not hesitate to recommend this school.
