This school is the best option for anyone in the CFB district. You will earn an associate's degree for free, network with college professors that ultimately become your mentors, and enjoy the privilege of knowing everyone. The homework load is oftentimes UNREAL, but it is good due to it preparing you for college, and due to your hard work, your first year of college will be a BREEZE due to already having your basic classes out the way (ENGL, HIST, MATH, Science courses). At that point, you can decide if you want to either relax or try to get some courses for your major done and graduate early. Must keep in mind that this school is highly competitive, so going up on rank is extremely difficult. Overall, ECHS puts you ahead of your peers, and despite your friends making fun of you for starting college early, you'll be ahead of them while they start what you started four years ago. This school guarantees success, and it will make your college experience better as you will have the opportunity to graduate in 2 years due to already having an associate's degree. People simply look at you differently compared to other students in the district, so if you want to stand out, graduate college early, earn an associate's degree for free, and get an insight into college life, this an option to consider.

ECHS Leadership begins when all faculty are collectively aware of the impactful efficacy each has on student achievement. This collaborative spirit is not only nurtured by the school principal, but the counselor, department chairpersons, and the individual teachers themselves commit to understand and empower one another in their academic work with children. Building constructive collegial relations is a guiding principle that sustains the academic power of the high school program(s).

Faculty, because they know the academic story of their students, are better able to develop Individual Education Plans for each child. The grading policy is leveraged to support a collective growth mindset rather than a fixed mindset. Effort produces achievement. Considerate effort is made by the faculty to address the learning needs of their English Learners (EL). The expectation for all students to earn a high school and a college degree (associates) within four years requires constant effort and strategically planning to cultivate high levels of literacy.

The Early College High School is embedded on the Dallas County - Brookhaven campus which means high school students are constantly surrounding by adults. This positive adult exposure has lead to the development of multiple mentoring programs (peer-to-peer, Girls Empowered by Mentoring, Local Alliance for Male Mentorship), construction of strong student-to-teacher relationships, and solid community and parent partnerships that address unkind treatment students may exhibit to another student(s).

There are a variety of Safety Nets designed to support the students' natural learning struggles that develop from a rigorous course load (albeit high school and college classes). These extra personal learning study sessions include a four-year AVID program for all students, Saturday School, daily academic advisory class periods, mandatory ZAP (Zeroes Are Not Permitted) study sessions on Fridays, and a flexible formative grading policy that does not lessen or shrink the rigor. All of these safety nets are staffed by the tireless and committed teaching corps. There should be no wonder why this school was chosen as a National Blue Ribbon School of Excellence for the second time in six years (2020, 2014).

Each student has a personal and an academic story. By the end of four years all 14 teachers and the counselor know the stories. This intimate knowledge garnered by the faculty for each student drives creativity, innovation, and inspiration which ultimately transforms student dreams into realities.

Over the past five years, students and staff have collectively redefined the school's motto, vision. mission, core values and created a new Student Code of Ethics. Young people are challenged by the campus adults to engage in the dialogue to shape and enhance the school's culture. Students are encouraged and rewarded to become self-advocates in a fair and respectful manner(s). Coupled with a service-learning commitment, students strengthen their desire to make an positive impact on the local community all the while developing a caring attitude towards theirs and teachers.

This is an amazing school. It provides high school students with experience and have the opportunity to receive an associates degree. This early college high school program is a challenge, but is great for children's education. This school is just plain and simply wonderful, and gives high school students the opportunity to graduate with both their diploma and their associates degree ( 2 years of college). I was a student at ECHS and I graduated with my associates degree in science, it was the best choice I ever made.
